The editors of such books should be fired. And you wonder why comic books are looked down upon! :wow: LOL

Green Lantern #13 has a nice example. On page 24, the cyborg superman announces, "This is only the first stage of evolution for me and my manhunters, Jordan!" :whatever:

It should read, "my manhunters and I, Jordan!"

Perhaps mandatory attendance at a grammar rodeo is required to compensate these poor wordsmiths.

How is "me & my manhunters" correct? It should me, "my manhunters & I."

How is "me & my manhunters" correct? Provide a link that explains how this is correct. Its not.

It's correct. I don't know any grammar links.

Wrong, DumbDumb...
It should be "me".
To test it, just take off "my manhunters".

It would be, "This is the first stage of evolution for me.
Not "This is the first stage of evolution for I."

In an overzealous attempt to be correct, most people actually end up so scared of "Me an' Timmy went down to the cement pond." (which should be "Timmy and I went down to the cement pond.") that they always think "I" is correct.
Not always the case.

Ok, explain to me how it is correct. I say its not. You always refer to others first, then yourself.

"My friends and I are going to the store."

Not " Me and my friends are going to the store.

It is.

This is the first stage of evolution for ME.
This is also the first stage of evolution for my Manhunters.

But why say in two sentences what you can say in one?
So, put 'em together....

This is the first stage of evolution for ME and my MANHUNTERS.

See?

How do you know it's the writers who have bad grammar? What if the CHARACTER WHO IS SPEAKING has the bad grammar? Ever read anything that involves the Thing, or Wolverine, or any character with a similar accent?

"My friends and I are going to the store."

Not " Me and my friends are going to the store.

That's because in th^t sentence, you are the subject.

Again, the easy way to tell is to take off "My friends".

It would be "Me am going to the store." and of course, that is wrong.

But do that with the Green Lantern sentence, and "This is the first stage of evolution for I." is also wrong.

I do see. it just looks & sounds incorrect. Perhaps my attendance at said grammar rodeo is required. Maybe I should be fired too!

Actually, it is good that you cleared that up. This was really spoiling my comic book reading. Now I am enjoy! Thanks.

Here you go, DumbDumb.

Which is correct: 'my friend and me' or 'my friend and I'?

That depends on where you and your friend are in the sentence. In colloquial speech 'me' is often used where standard grammar requires 'I', especially when someone else is mentioned too. Sometimes people use 'I' instead of 'me', because they know 'me' is sometimes wrong, but have not understood the principle. (Others resort to 'myself', which can sound rather pompous.)

I am the subject of the sentence, but the object of the sentence is me.
If in doubt, take your friend out of the sentence.

Me and my friend went to a party last night. [Wrong]
I and my friend went to a party last night.
My friend and me went to a party last night. [Wrong]
My friend and I went to a party last night.

The mayor has invited me and my husband.
The mayor has invited I and my husband. [Wrong]

The mayor has invited my husband and me.
The mayor has invited my husband and I. [Wrong]

Incidentally, saying 'my friend and I' instead of 'I and my friend' is not better grammar, it's just being polite.

just curious - is your first/last name Duccan or something? the SHIELD agent is named Dum Dum Dugan so if you were trying to name yourself after the character you spelled it wrong.

Of course, it could simply be how Hank Henshaw speaks. Very few people speak with perfect grammar.
