That clock campaign actually saved soft drinks as we know them. Dr. Pepper saved Coke and Pepsi's ass when war time sugar rations threatened to put them out of business. Dr. Pepper convinced the government that there were studies showing that those three times were when people's blood sugar dropped and they had a lull in energy. They rationalized that soft drinks were vital to the American work force, and secured higher rations of sugar for soda makers...saving the Soda industry. They ran a very successful advertisement canpaign based on that manuver.
