Homecoming Why does Marvel not want Garfield?

Cause Garfield is 40 and was in ASM and ASM2...which were poo. Clean start.

In all seriousness, if I was Kevin Feige my hamster wheel would be spinning in the direction of using Spider Man to make up for the inevitable loss of Iron Man in the Avengers franchise when RDJ gets too bored, too old and/or too expensive to reprise the role. Therefore, getting a new, younger actor as Spider Man is a tremendous value investment.

I think such plans are already in the back of the company's mind.

Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't some of the leaked emails reveal that Marvel had been planning scripts and such since the summer, in case a deal fell through in the near future?

I may be wrong, but I remember being stoked when reading something similar to that.

I agree that Marvel already has someone in mind, perhaps cast.

Mark Millar is pumping Taron Egerton's tires.

I never got why they cast somebody so old for the reboot. I think Marvel/Sony should cast an 18-22 year old this time.

I don't know if i want high school Spidey. I'd rather they just jump in with him already established and a bit of a veteran. No origin, no high school.

As much as I've hated the Webb series, I would've been fine with Garfield continuing. I've always felt that he only needed a good script to be a great Spidey. Same with Tobey, but..

The audience would make the connection between the ASM movies and MCU movies. Fans would wonder why there was no Stark building in ASM and no Oscorp building in the Avengers...right there is a big problem. Unless Marvel decides to pull a George Lucas and add an Oscorp building to the Avengers NYC skyline and a Stark building into the ASM NYC skyline.. re-releasing ASM on blu-ray with the added STARK building would be ridicules..they really need a new actor. It is a Shame. He is a great actor.

Because they want to start fresh and they want to cast new actors if I was given a job to make my own Spider-Man series I want to start fresh with new ideas if Marvel continued with The Amazing Spider-Man series then they would have less things they can use

Efron will be almost 30 when the new movie comes out. It's not him.

Logan will be 25 by the time this movie comes out. but he'll be 24 when they start filming.

Andrew looks good for his age, but not for an 18 year old. There were shots where he looked like a university grad student in ASM 2.

Logan Lerman is the best suggestion I have heard from reading through countless forums.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster Id be alright with as well, He is very lanky and has been acting for a long time 2 years older than Lerman but he looks super young for his age.

The High-school graduation scene was too awkward for me.. Andrew looked nothing like a graduate.

It's like how Maggige Grace played a teenager in Taken despite being in her late 20's. She can walk awkwardly all she wants but it was just weird to watch after seeing her in Lost years before.

Shame :(

I actually really like the first Amazing Spider-Man.... Though, the second one was one of the biggest disappointments of my entire life. A few things need to happen in order for it to be a hit:

1. Sony needs to learn its mistake: Sony fanboys, I don't care how much you like their games (they were more like ****** movies anyways), they messed up in all forms of media. Shutting down several studios ranging from electronics to tv/movies divisions is one of the worst things to happen to big company. Why did this happen? Because they keep making mistakes equivalent to the titanic.
2. Don't introduce bull**** comic book plots: I don't think anyone has to worry about one more day.... What I do have to worry about is the fact that they'll use the ones that people thought were any good (superior Spiderman, clone saga, mystic bull**** regarding his powers etc.... Actually, Spiderman has too much horrible comics).
3. Treat Spiderman as fairly as they did with other heroes marvel has: I've heard that they pushed a few movies back in favor of Spiderman.... Wut? I get that Spiderman is their most famous hero (despite having consistently horrible comics), but did the other heroes have to take a back seat because of him?

Hopefully, they do a Spiderman movie series right this time. As much as I want them to try to fix everything with the amazing Spiderman 3 (feel really bad for Marc Webb), I guess it wouldn't be too bad..... But if they do another reboot after this one, I'M QUITTING SPIDERMAN FOREVER!

If Logan Lerman were to play Spiderman (which I thought about before any of you guys did :P), I would pay money to watch it; even if it were to suck... But if they brought back Tibey Meguire back, for whatever reason, I would reject it automatically. Just. F*******. No.

I am curious why Marvel is so against using Garfield and of his version? Garfield is a pretty big name actor and this way you avoid having to do another reboot. Also, nothing in the either the 2 movies was so out of whack that it wouldn't fit into the Marvelverse.

I do not follow Marvel comics....So if any fans out there want to correct me. I would be interested to hear it

What makes you think that Marvel is "so against using Garfield"?

Recasting is simply a good business decision - it cements the idea that this is a new take on the character. Garfield is just the type of talent that Marvel like - I wouldn't be surprised if he had a future in the MCU

The Amazing Spider-Man films probably don't fit with what Marvel want to do - Norman Osborn is dead, Harry is an insane killer and the Sinister Six element (Marvel may want to develop those characters differently).

Also, they may a younger Parker.

They didn't want the baggage of the Webb series hanging over them. The same way they'll drop the cast of the new FF like a bad habit if when they get the FF back.

Not too bad I guess. At least it isn't the billionth "We want Tobey Meguire back!"

I assume it's because Andrew's got 2015-6 packed with roles.

who cares?... he's OUT, baby... and that works for me...
