For some reason Hype is ALWAYS slow for me...it's the only website that takes me forever to travel around in and post.

The site had a corrupt database. Some blame it on underpowered servers. Others point to the forces of evil. In any event it's been repaired and it took hours because there's 30GB of data with zillions of columns and rows that had to be scanned. Plans are being made to migrate the site to a more powerful server platform. In the meantime, some database intensive features have been disabled in case the forces of evil weren't responsible for the database corruption.

Good to hear that this place is being fixed.

I still get times where the site is completely slow. I'll get the screen that says the internet cannot display the page. Yet...I can surf other sides just fine???

If you used thread subscriptions or email notification for private messages you'll have to re-do that. We had to clear all that out of the database.

I did virtually all my reading and posting from my subscription list. It may be very time consuming to find it all and rebuild the list. It may have been necessary but it is also very unfortunate. What are the database intensive features you referred to?
