This may seem like a silly question, but why is the Red Skull considered Cap's archnemesis? Baron Hienrich Zemo has done far more to hurt Cap than the Skull has. Who killed Bucky? Heinrich Zemo. Who trapped Cap in ice for several decades? Heinrich Zemo. What the heck has Red Skull done to Cap?

Heck Helmut Zemo has done more to hurt Cap than the Skull. Helmut has the one who distroyed Cap's most treasured possessions in the Seige of the Avengers Mansion storyline (the only remaining picture of his mother, his original shield, etc). What personal damage has the Skull done to Cap that outweighs what the two Barons of Zemo have done to him?

Cap was created to fight the Red Skull

So what? It doesn't change the fact that Zemo has done far peronsal damage to Cap then the Skull ever has. What has the Skull ever done to Cap, doesn't pulling his weight as an archnemesis. If cop was tasked with brining down a crime lord, but then his son was killed by a completely different crime boss, which guy would the cop hate more, the criminal who killed the guy's son or the criminal who he was assigned to arrest?

DING! And considering that Zemo is long dead anyway.

So what? I still think Cap would hate Zemo way more than he would hate the Skull. What personal damage has the Skull ever done to Cap?

Is your answer to everything so what? Its kind of hard to have a dude thats dead be your archnemesis.

Well even when Norman Osborn was still dead, many still considered him Spidey's archnemesis he because he did the most personal damage to Spidey.

An archnemesis should have the greatest effect on a super hero's life. I mean why is the Red Skull still his archnemesis, what kind of personal damage has he done to Cap? Is it just because he is biggest nazi who happens to be around nowadays? If so that seems like kinda shallow rivalary. It even seems like Helmut Zemo has done more personal damage to Cap then the Skull has. Daredevil was created by the actions of the Fixer, does that make the Fixer DD's archnemesis? What feats has the Red Skull accomplished that would make him Cap's archnemesis? If Baron Heinrich Zemo came back from the dead, would the Red Skull still be Cap's archnmesis? If yes, why is that?

Red Skull has done lots to mess with Steve Rogers life however the only thing people seem to remember is that Zemo killed Bucky

Skull was responsable for taking away the Captain America Mantle from Steve Rodgers and giving it Superpatriot.

Red Skull is Cap's enemy because he's been his enemy the longest, and that's how the writers make it.

Did he ever do anything as bad as killing Bucky?

Well, it was established that Cap DOES have more personal hatred for the Zemos than he does for the Skull. Read his early Avengers stories or better yet, read the miniseries "Earth's Mightiest Heroes" of a year and change back.

Red Skull takes his relationship with Captain America far more personally than Captain America does with him. Zemo had Captain America obsessed with revenge up until he accidentally did himself in.

So he's Cap's archnemesis by dint of writer's fiat, rather than any feats on his part? Okay.

Good god, this is idiotic. You realize Zemo wasnt even a Cap character until 1968 right? Red Skull has been fighting Cap since the 40's. It doesnt matter how many evil things Zemo has done to Cap, Red Skull is a consistent and long standing foe for Cap, and he will always be his arch nemesis.

cloned his body and runs around in that body
got him fired a few times
got him to take the SSS out of his blood stream
killed some friends

Now see shouldn't your archnemesis be your most hated foe, the one that had the greatest impact on your life? Again if the Red Skull isn't Cap's most hated and personal foe, why is he the archnemesis, except because writer's fiat?

The Skull is Cap's archfoe because he is the Anti-Cap. Cap is an American supersoldier who has persisted since WWII to fight evil, while Red Skull is a Nazi supersoldier who has persisted since WWII to perpetrate evil.

He's Cap's archfoe because he is Cap's polar opposite.

Cap's back in his regular body now, that seems more like inconvience than anything else.

Who would you hate more, the guy who got you fired or the guy killed who killed your son?

Taking the SS out of Cap's bloodtream, huh, so if Doc Ock removed Spidey's powers, he would be a bigger archenemey than Gobby?

These fiends that Red Skull killed, who were they? Were any of them as close to Cap as Bucky was?

because he's dead

This is Marvel, no one is dead. :oldrazz:

Seriously if Baron Heinrich Zemo came back from the dead, would the Red Skull still be Cap's archnemesis?

YES.

No the Red Skull is running around in a cloned body of Steve Rogers complete with SSS

Zemo killed Bucky, but that doesn't instantly make him is arch enemy. It just makes him the guy who killed Bucky. The fact that he's dead makes it hard to serve as Cap's arch foe anyway. The Red Skull, on the other hand, has been Cap's rival from way back when and continues to be so to this day.
