Christian, Muslim, Atheist, or Agnostic......respect this man for who he is, and what he is trying to do. He has brought more people of different beliefs/faiths together in one year than I could hope for. Imagine what he'll do with the rest of his time on this Earth.

I just want to say thank you Pope Francis for showing the world how to truly lead a good life, not just as a man of faith, but as a human being.

I hope he introduces the reforms the Catholic Church is in such dire need of.

He already took the bonuses the Vatican gets when the new pope's elected and put it all towards charities. So you know he's not like our world leaders......he not all talk.

I definitely prefer this pope to others.

Francis is the People's Pope.

If ye smell what the Pope is cookin' :woot:

He is most defiantly doing good work. I hope he can inspire more Christians (and non Christians) alike.

He's the first Pope (or even world leader) I can remember having any kind of true respect or belief in.

Which says something because I'm not Catholic and have for years seen the Vatican as corrupt as any other place in the world.

Francis is the kind of guy I wanted Obama to be; the one who does as he says he will and shows he's not willing to keep the status quo or worsen it.

As someone raised Catholic, 12 years of Catholic School (so I am an atheist, natch) I am actually a little fearful for this Pope. He seems intent to shake things up, especially when it comes to the church finances. I just feel that if I wake up one day and find the Pope unexpectedly dead, I won't be surprised. He seems more than willing to ruffle some powerful Catholic feathers.

Not only is he Times person of the year, he's also the POTY for The Advocate (the gay newsmagazine).

I kind of like this man, to be honest. I don't expect the Catholic Church to start performing same-sex marriages or even ordinating women any time soon (and part of me feels like they shouldn't) but the last two Popes made a lot of hay by inciting discrimination against the gay community. By saying that his church shouldn't be consuming itself with that kind of activity, Pope Francis is actually taking his church to a path of sanity.

Francis is just ridiculously common sense, that's why I approve of him

Haha, I kid I kid. I respect this new Pope. I don't believe he would ever hide any priest that molested children. For the time being, it seems he is free of corruption. I hope he stays that way.

I too have a little bit of a feeling, that if you ruffle too many feathers, you are bound to come across people who will stab you in the back. I hope that humanity will prove us both wrong.

Good to hear, I like this pope. Glad somebody with power is finally trying to bring Christianity into the 21st century.

I like Francis so far. There are limits to how far the Catholic Church is going to be "shaken up", but he's certainly a vast improvement over the last one.

I think by far the biggest most impacting thing he's said so far was that "if gays and lesbians search for the Lord and have good will, who am I to judge"

You think Benedict and Francis side eye each other when they are passing each other in like the Vatican cafeteria?

Yea, certainly a far cry from the remarks we got from Benedict (or JPII for that matter).

He's a brilliant Pope and he hasn't even been in power for a full year. Even atheist friends of mine are commenting on how they think he's good. Doing right in the world for once, y'all

It's funny how all it takes is people to do right by one another, that the barriers of belief fall.

We are clouded by belief, not understanding that all we all desire is peace and understanding.

"Geez, way to take the last lime jello, dude!"

"Oh, sorry, I didn't hear that, 'cause popes emeritus are supposed to be silent! Buuurn!" :o

So far this Pope has been doing great things and I hope he does many more in the years to come. I'm not catholic but this guy has my support for trying to bring some sense back to the catholic people
