Why such a disconnect wil audiences and critics with Aquaman

Aquaman got an average 64% rating on RT and is rotten with top critics. Audiences however, are loving the movie. It will easily pass 300m domestic and 1 billion worldwide with a chance at 1.1 billion and outgross many better reviewed superhero films. Why such a disconnect with this film?
