Superman Returns why WB is so confident this time?

He was a long damn way from being perfect for the role but the movie was a long damn way from being perfect period so maybe my view on this guy is tainted. I'm hoping for a scratch built one off for the next movie.

I like both actors. And I hope in the next movie routh gets a chance to step out of reeve's shadow more. It was a frustrating performance for me. He's got the GQ model looks as we saw on the farm, and OC teen drama acting isn't going to kill me. It's been decades since reeve's superman, so a new interpretation wouldn't hurt would it?

Singer's idea to do a returns story may have rubed people the wrong way. This reminds me of hulk to much drama and less action. Not that a new director will correct it, but given a new direction as a new set of writers or just have singer and his boys read a comic of superman. Maybe we will see what we were hoping for since the annoucement of the man of steel being back on the big screen.

I think WB is bluffing. They have to act confident like a parent that can't admit they made a mistake.

Singer screwed up and I had the utmost faith in him. WB is treading softly and trying to figure out what to do next with this not-quite-a-flop-not-quite-a-hit although it's THE flagship DC character.

I never imagined I'd agree witha that a year ago. I was positive we were getting a killer Superman movie with an assertive, strong actor in the leading role that would make Welling girlie. But the fact is...Welling is a better actor, in better shape, and has a LOT more screen presence than Routh who proved he can't really act and evidently can't frown or punch.

Wellings Clark is a wholesome good guy, but damn he ain't no PUNK!

It should have been Welling from day one, I have nothing against Routh but he just did not cut it at all as Superman/Clark/Kal-El/Peeping Tom who hides in bushes or whatever role Singer had him play

ya,I agree, they do need to pick up a comic(s).Since horn's announcement though,I feel better.at least he admitted S.R.needed more action.I'm sure the sequel will have plenty of action, since it seems they now relise thats what the public wants...
