Superman Returns why WB is so confident this time?

Yeah, my stomach and the food I ate....it finds it offensive as well. I mean....seriously.....how could anyone actually work on that? Wouldn't they vomit in the process?

Um, yeah- ok.... lol. Weyseed knows how to take things to extremes. Two posts above is sarcastic - just in case you couldn't tell.

Yeah right. I read your posts at BT and here. You're seriously pissed at those silly pictures. Sorry, Tril. You know it's all in fun though....

ll my favorites was the one with the badly drawn wig and the one I have as my Avatar. I hope someone else enjoyed them too.

No, nope pissed- the original ones were seriously not clever and not funny. And yes, the post was meant to sound sarcastic. Because, there seems to be no one coming here other than to post pictures.

But, the moment that you did add clever and funny 'pictures'- I laughed.... the ones you did well and that were clever:

- Jason throwing piano at woman
- waterfall gag
- Your aviator gag

So, it's not that I was against them. Just didn't find most of them clever or funny at all.

I don't think the gay tag had as much effect on adults as it would adolescents and kids. The movie itself didn't help either.

the gay thing had nothing to do with it imo. The movie just wasn't for everybody. What can you do when that's the case, yunno? if the film was a big fun spiderman type movie, maybe things would have been different.

The wig one, I couldn't stop laughing while I was drawing it. You're seriously saying you didn't even chuckle at lex with a silly wig? Oh come on. You don't fool me. :O

Hey, different sense of humor. All I saw in those was a kid grabbing a newspaper and drawing on it. Gets old after a certain age. While the animations were well thought out, not rush job and were clever and funny.

I'm a Star Wars fan and liked Lord of the Rings, but that didn't prevent me from laughing out loud during Clerks II. I love films, but that doesn't prevent me at laughing at 'mock parodies' of them in MAD or 'five-minute' spoofs by Zev. So, I'm someone who can laugh at 'mockery' jokes of what I like.

I thought when he was brushing his teeth and was shocked to find Lois on the boat, that was pretty funny.

But it was lex with a curley wig. That's hiliarious.

Oh and the Rois Rane thing? I kinda laughed a little inside when that happened.

that was campy.

anyway, in regards to the Superman-is-gay controversy. i have yet to find someone who took that seriously. most of the people that i've talked to that didn't want to see the film have said:
Superman isn't terribly interesting because he has the power to do anything.
the movie looked like they've seen it before.
they'll just wait until it comes out on rental.

blaming the box office on Pirates or the gay controversy just seems like scapegoating.

Um, in my books that's similar to- "look mom, I drew buck teeth on this guy!". As said before, different sense of humor- moved past the days of asking for a crayon to draw on people and then call it funny. I only laugh at well thought out jokes- such as your animations.

if this was 5 years ago then SR would be a blockbuster. Who cares if it made 100 million or 500?

Unbeweevable. It was meant to look like that to make it look more careless and therefore more funny than a well manipped and styled wig.

Lets' look at this for example.

Notice I didn't use the Text entry button at all during this because I wanted the words to appear sloppily done. That's part of the gag, you see. It adds to the overall silliness of the piece. Kitty of course is not a real kitty in the film, but I wanted people to view the kitty drawing as a humerous representation of the character rather than an accurate reproduction here in this work of art. Lastly the Mohawk. Notice the way it zigs and zags across his bald head, not even touching the top portion towards the back. This was done to show no care was taken in giving Lex his blue hair adding to the LOL factor overall in relation to one's sense of the artist's frivolous attitude towards the work itself. I wanted the feeling of fun to be mutual. It seems it was not. Oh well.

Hey, face it- I don't find your manips funny. I find your animations funny, but not your manips. Move on. You don't need to explain to me why it's funny. In my opinion, it's not funny. And a 'comedian' of any sorts is never supposed to say why or why not something is funny- they shouldn't have to. It's my opinion, I'm sticking to it- don't know what your explanation is for. And let's move on....

Never! No one respects fine art anymore! Don't be a hater tril or... I'll go to bluetights... The Wig you have to admit gave you a little tickle in your funny bone. then we'll move on to bigger and better stuffs.

Hey, to me- it's not funny. Accept that. Everyone has their own sense of humor. You think it's funny, I didn't- is it that big of a deal?

oh c'mon, if you can't appreciate a silly/dumb joke ever now and then i worry about you.

Hey, I like some dumb jokes that I think are actually funny. Such as a couple of jokes in SM4 (most notably the Charlie Sheen scene and Leslie Nelson character scenes). As stated before, different sense of humor. Why is that so different to understand and accept?

Not everyone will like something. If you have to understand that, I do. I'm a writer/ aspiring film maker and I get my good share of great feedback and good share of negative feedback. That's the way life is, you entertain a few- you don't entertain a few. That's life.

yes, i know that's how life is. i'm an English major with a concentration in Creative Writing.

man, you actually like parts of the Scary Movie franchise!? i stopped finding that funny after i was 15. i mean, there's good dumb, and then there's just plain moronic with nothing humorous about it...

differences. as noted, i suppose.

And, really....Superman got a son. That's like the least gay thing that could have happened.

This is true. Singer took care of Supermans Image well imo. Things like that helped much, but even back in the old movies he was always chasing lois.

Only thing i can see that gives that vibe is the underwear thing, but imo supermans a god, he can rock it, especially singers.

Only two scenes is the Charlie Sheen scene- which yes, is a really really stupid joke- but is as stupid as "haha, Lex has curly hair"....

And the Leslie Nielson jokes- which is more or less a mockery of President Bush.

Both are going for a 'dumb joke'. To me, "look Lex has curly hair- haha" is the same as a kid drawing on a newspaper and going "look, I gave that guy buck teeth- haha". It's the same exact thing, with intent or without intent- didn't find it funny.

i'm so tired of Bush bashing. i get you, you don't like him. shut up. he's almost out of office.

Superman's supposed to be a guardian angel, not a god.

anyway, Singer helped show that Superman wasn't gay...by making his personal life like a Maury Povich episode.

Well i couldnt care what superman is supposed to be from your view.. what singer did in a few areas made me accept that costume a hell of a lot more is what im stating.

that made no sense.

Superman's storyline has elements of Judo-Christian mythology. Superman's supposed to represent a guardian angel here on Earth. the same way his origin has elements of both Jesus and Moses.
