Why Wrestling Thread? Why?! Why?!

I can think of a handful of angles to make it work, but it is gonna be up to Rollins and Triple H to get it over.

Ugh, what a horrible show. Despite focusing somewhat on younger talent, WWE has hit the post-WrestleMania doldrums again. I'm certainly not upset that Batista is gone for awhile, but I wish he would have taken Orton and Cena with him.

Speaking of Cena, that segment with Stephanie was excruciating. It went on and on with Cena doing his usually Pollyanna "I like 'em even if they don't like me" schtik. They only funny thing about that segment was when Cena said he was once "forced to give up the WWE champion." Uh..what? Were you dating him, John?

LOL, I now see people saying the only reason they turned Rollins and not Ambrose was because of that mistake from the WWE magazine.

Huh? What mistake?

Last week some news sites were reporting on a scan (which I guess is from the recent WWE mag or kids mag) in which Ambrose did a Q&A. Someone asked him who makes him laugh the most and he said "My FORMER partners, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns."

Edit: The scan:

Favorite tweet of the night? "Two-Toned = Two-Faced."

Lol. Yep, these guys are gonna have to really come up with a good reason story wise why a guy who damn near killed himself jumping off the titan tron to save his friends would then turn on them after a second, statement making victory the next night. I can't help thinking either maybe this should have happened after extreme rules or that they should have lost last night. Somebody on line said maybe he's going "undercover" to destroy the authority from the inside or something. Doubt it, but still in denial mode. I knew they were breaking up sooner or later, but I wasn't ready for it yet, and with Bryan's injury they were the most interesting thing on Raw these days.

I do not get the logic of breaking up The Shield just at the very moment they were cemented as an enduringly dominant force capable of headlining a PPV and being the top babyfaces in the company. You could have got another year out of them in that position, and instead they threw all that marketing and merchandising potential away because of ingrained attitudes that only solo stars are worth pushing and teams in of themselves can't be presented as marquee figures on the roster.

Reigns as a solo act, is going to happen no matter what by WM31. To get there they had to break the guys up with enough time for the transition to seem somewhat smooth. In the meantime they'll still get merchandising and dominant faces out of what's left of Shield, but things were coming to an end pretty soon.

I'm not happy with it ending now, because compared to most stables Shield could very easily be milked for another year or two. Great look, notice in many high profile matches, bona-fide badasses, and yeah with Bryan out WWE could use three unified and super over faces. But for now I can manage. And really, I am glad Ambrose is still face. Reigns works being the tough, quieter badass until Shield truly dissolves.

The one thing I take from this is that Triple H believes in Rollins, and he has also proven he believes in the other two as well. We haven't seen a push like The Shield''s since the Brock Lesnar push of the early 2000's (Which Hunter has stated.) . Cena wasn't thrust into the spotlight like The Shield. These three men are WWE's future top guys and Payback and RAW proves that.

Yeah, all 3 of their futures look very bright. They've already proven they belong in the same ring as made guys like HHH, Batista, and Orton and not look out of place.

I don't like Shield ending and I think it should have been Ambrose to turn..but I am curious how it'll play out

I love how the biggest Adam Cole fangirl isn't his actual female fans but Steve Corino. :hehe:

I wonder how Rollins will look in a suit and old or new wrestling gear with an Evolution shirt,This will probably give him a great push but it's just bad timing

By the way I wanted to address Frico's idea that Triple H has always seen something in Rollins. That's fine, but kayfabe-wise you can't say he made Seth NXT champion because Seth won a tournament and WWE can't directly reference booking on TV.

Man, I had dozed off to sleep around 10:45, woke up and saw Rollins standing next to Triple H and Orton. I couldn't believe it.

I hope the explanation for the turn is really good, but I cannot imagine one. Evolution has lost three PPVs straight while Shield's been on a roll.

This is definitely the angle for the summer. I kinda wish they could ditch Kane and do Bryan/Reigns/Ambrose vs Triple H/Orton/Rollins.

I won't call it a bust yet until I see how it plays out. But they could've gone another 6 months at least. I don't know another year.

Agreed. It alleviates my concern that Ambrose and Rollins were going to get stuck in limbo while Reigns would get pushed to the top. Evolution are all former world champions. Rollins getting added tells he might be world champion one day. Which will make me mark out when it happens.

I will mark when all three become WWE world champion, but Ambose's win will taste sweeter than the others.

:hubba Reading this makes me want to make a shirt called "Jon Moxley Guy Since 2007." :woot:

Ambrose becoming the top heel WWE Champion is going to be a magnificent day for the company. It's going to give them a great boost whether or not they'll need it at the time (and chances are they way things are going they probably will.).
