Who else thinks Rusev is destined to fail as a gimmick? He's just the Bulgarian Umaga; the evil foreigner who is a savage and unAmerican. And the only saving grace is the manager, in this case the 'Russian' Lana (nice legs) Xenophobia from Bulgaria.... which is an ally of the US. This aint the 80's anymore, McMahon. This is the WORLD Wrestling Fed...Entertainment. The World means so much now than before.

I mean, with other dudes like Del Rio, at least he's classy and intelligent. Rusev speaks in broken Bulgarian like a cave man in his own theme song (which is the Bulgarian national anthem...not Russian. Sounds Badass though).

I know this is wrestling, which is a tongue in cheek business, but it's also 2014. And by the way, no Bulgarians and Russians are not the same. Poor move.

I think the 'evil foreigner' is a troupe that I can kinda value. It's in the blood of wrestling.

But it can't be that safety net for dudes like Rusev. Don't be lazy.

They should've made him a dude who is trying, really, really hard to be American where it becomes comical. Sure it's a joke gimmick but it's something refreshing.

Gimmick is 30 years outdated and I still don't care for the talent at all. Lana on the other hand..

Congratulations to Ricochet for becoming the youngest BOSJ tournament winner ever.

Rusev is a proper big man in a business that has sunk to using faux big guys like Elgin and Ishii, he's a top athlete, agile and actually a monster. The current gimmick may burn out after a couple of years but if he works top end programs in that time then he'll make a lot of money, so best of luck to him.

Depends what your definition of "failure" is. Granted, I don't see Rusev winning the world title anytime soon, but most wrestlers don't.

I can see him being a solid midcard guy under the current gimmick, provided he continues to become more brutal, and stays away from humor bits. Maybe he will also be a good "gateway" wrestler, kind of what Mark Henry was a few years ago.

John Cena and Adam Rose were reportedly injured during the WWE house show in Madison last night. The source notes that Rose suffered a cut over his right eye during his match with Heath Slater, which was wide enough that it brought out trainers to clean up the blood and fix him up before the match finished.

Cena's injury sounds more potentially serious. Per the source, Cena "suffered a pretty severe blow to the head" during his match with Bray Wyatt. The ref threw up the signal, causing two trainers to come out and check on him for several minutes. Cena worked the rest of the No Holds Barred match, which involved several foreign objects and was physical, and then left straight to the back after te show without the usual celebration with the live crowd.

Yup, Cole has been Vince's mouthpiece for the longest time now.

Regarding WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan being injured, it's said that Vince McMahon has been making all of the decisions regarding the angles they're doing with Bryan and the title.

The latest word from within WWE is Bryan's status is still very much up in the air.

Vince wants announcers he can yell at that won't yell at him back.

vince needs to step down, he's lost touch with what the fans want
it's pretty telling that hhh is in charge of nxt in comparison with the main program

Thanks to WrestlingINC.com reader Francisco for sending in this report for last night's WWE live event in Las Cruces, NM:

Apparently a sold out show in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Just north of 7,000 in attendance. The night started with Kingston vs Damien Sandow. Sandow played the crowd and got heat. Good back and forth match with Kofi winning it via pin.

Next up was Bo Dallas vs Zack Ryder. Ryder came out to a good pop while Bo didn't have much of a reaction until he got on the mic. Bo Dallas had the upper hand most of the match and won via pin after hitting Ryder with the BoDawg.

Next was a triple threat for the Divas title featuring champion Paige vs. Alicia Fox vs. Natalya. Natalya got the biggest pop of the night. All three girls got good offense in. There was a solid spot where Natalya power-bombed Paige off the turnbuckle who also suplexed Alicia. In the end Paige won via submission.

Titus O'neil vs Sin Cara was next. Titus had the upper hand most of the match and Sin Cara ended up winning via pinfall after a Swanton bomb. Sin Cara got a good pop considering a lot of Hispanics live in Las Cruces.

Next is tag team action; Rybaxel vs Goldust and his partner... Cody Rhodes! Rhodes bro's came out to a good pop. Goldust played the crowd well to get some laughs by making fun of Ryback. Rybaxel had control of most of the match, towards the end Cody made the hot tag to Goldust, took control of it and pinned Curtis Axel. RHODES BROS WIN! Very entertaining match. Cody tweeted after the show something about his hip popping out so keep an eye out for that this week.

Intermission.

Mixed tag (fans voted) Fandango and Layla vs Ziggler and Summer Rae. It seemed to me that Summer didn't really know how to play the babyface role yet, even though she got a solid pop. The girls started out the match and tagged the guys in and they finished it off. Ziggler got the pin after a zig-zag.

Afterwards it was Jack Swagger with Zeb Colter, who got major heat after playing the crowd saying there were illegal immigrants at the event instead of real Americans. Good back and forth match with each guy getting a good amount of offense in. Both showing off their power. Cesaro hit the swing then the uppercut and got the pin.

Main Event was next, Randy Orton and Seth Rollins vs. The Shield. Rollins came out with Randy to Evolution's theme and got by far the most heat. "You sold out" chants started and went on for about two minutes then The Shield came out to a big pop. Right after they entered the ring the "you sold out" chants started again and went on for about 5 minutes while Rollins would roll out of the ring avoiding Ambrose. Very entertaining match, as expected. One spot stood out when Rollins was doing the vertical suplex but three amigos style, and we started chanting 'Eddie' since Eddie Guerrero was from El Paso (30 minutes from here), and he even did the Eddie chest shake. Randy pointed to the sky and whispered to Rollins and he ended up doing the Frog Splash. It was cool to see that even if they're heels that they pay tribute to Eddie. Match ended in DQ after Randy hit Reigns with a chair. He hit him and then Ambrose, and then The Shield countered and took them out with the chairs and celebrated with the fans.

Biggest Pops: Natalya, Shield, Ziggler, Ryder, and Sin Cara. (Turns out Hunico who plays him is from El Paso as well so it make sense.)

Most Heat: Rollins (by far), Zeb, Sandow, and Rybaxel.

It looks like WWE did the smart thing by turning Rollins heel. All in all, great show.

Sounds like Vince wants the title away from Bryan quickly.

Tyler Breeze's old theme was playing for a new show on the USA network. :lmao: ....Just priceless

I've heard wrestling themes pop up in random commercials over the years. Heard the Hardy Boyz theme during a Spike TV ad and others I can't recall right now.

Come to think of it, I've heard Hardcore Holly's old theme in commercials as well.

Actually in the Botchamania vid Cole was backtalking him about bringing up the WWE app so much. You can tell Cole thought they were going overboard with it.

It makes me wonder if Cole would improve if Vince was gone. To be quite honest, Cole was pretty good when he was doing Smackdown years back during the Attitude Era.

Cole was actually really good in the early 2000's. He didn't crap on segments back then and seemed to actually care.

I've heard both the Hardyz and Hardcore & Crash's themes played over *ahem* commercials promoting programmes of the more adult variety, lol. :o :oldrazz:

I just found the video where that was from, and it sounds like vince may have gave him an ear full after that because of the amount of "yes sirs" Cole was saying afterward, and "I'll do that from now on" at the end of it.

It's always crazy to think that Cole has been with the company for so long.
