The Dark Knight whysoserious.com/redballoons/

I think he was just saying that either the circled words themselves or the static video/timecode was a red herring, and that he killed people somewhere (at the warehouse in the static video). In any case, all these pieces have been connected. I don't think "blue" in the second line of the poem has the same kind of meaning as "red" does with "herring" in the first line. I think its just there for rhyme.

Ya, I agree, at first I thought it might have been a mention to cops, but I guess it simply refers back to the old poem:

"Roses are red
Violets are blue"

i dont kno if this has been discussed yet but...

why is this game called red balloons? the balloons are blue.

I only mention it because not much in this game has seemed odd for no reason

I agree. I didn't think about it for a while because I thought it might just be a reference to the song, but then when I thought about it later, it seemed weird that the Joker could tell us that herrings are red, and then hand us a page with 'red' in the title, even though the balloons aren't. I mean what if that's supposed to be the red herring? It would sort of indicate that not only the game is a red herring but so is all that business with Pasquale's Bistro, which...I dunno. But it could mean something else. I dunno if this has been discussed yet in this thread because I haven't been following it very closely, though.

lol thanks, i was just starting to think no-one was gna reply so was going to (cheekily) bump my own comment, but you did it for me. :cwink:

since we're in a lull, check to see if the following numbers are correct:

1st clown = 4 puffs
2nd clown = 20 puffs
3rd clown = 8 puffs
4th clown = 32 puffs

seems to be a progression of sorts, just checking if i'm seein' it right.

maybe there's nothing significant. they're each multiples of 4. and 4+20+8=32
they're all powers of 2 except the 2nd clown.
letters in an alphabet? d, t, g, c, b?

edit: sorry, as to whether or not they're right, didn't check yet...

man..that took some fast clicking!!!
but wheres my prize? :(

oh, you haven't done this yet...

okay, so the whole point of red balloons is to light up each clown's eyes as blue, then a ticket comes out of the slot.

i was checking to see if the progression of each clown was 4, 20, 8, 32.

oh well i didn't get a ticket

Then you didn't do it right. You're supposed to get all four sets of clown eyes blue simultaneously. It's kind of a pain, but just work backwards. I thought it was impossible but I somehow pulled it off twice in a row. The other thing is that the ticket doesn't show up with great fanfare--I didn't even notice the ticket was there for a while.

JEEZUS CHRIST!

I find a file called "balloon.swf" in my Temporary Internet Folder, and I decide to copy it into my personal folder to see if it's the balloon game.

Instead, all I get is a black window with FRIGGIN' LOUD GUNSHOT SOUNDS. :wow: WHAT THE HELL, JOKER?!?!?

????? you sure?

Anyone with Windows can try it. :oldrazz: It's a 718 byte Flash file named "balloon.swf" in your Temporary Internet Folder from the URL http://www.whysoserious.com/redballoons/swfs/balloon.swf. If you enter that URL into your address bar, the file loads up fine. Try to copy it from your cache, and it won't work.

The black window doesn't surprise me. There's probably a loader or something that prevents the game from being downloaded at once into the cache, but the sounds certainly don't resemble balloons to me!

Or maybe they are balloons, just many of them popping at a time. :o Which then sound like gunshots.

Or maybe 42E is just on to me and they're playing mean tricks. :cmad:

This is what it sounds like for me. Turn your volume down, just in case. :oldrazz:

Creepy, but it definately sounds like balloons a poppin' to me!
I had my speakers on pretty damn high when I opened that file, and it scared the crap out of me. :o

And I'm not THAT bad at the game, what is with this rampant balloon popping? :funny:

so how do u get their eyes blue?

each balloon has to be inflated to a certain amount: which is what i've been trying to confirm :)

first = 4
second = 20
third = 8
fourth = 32.

when you pump up the first balloon three times (or four?), the eyes should turn blue. then you have to push buttons like crazy to keep them all at the level for them all to work. finally, a sound comes in and spits the ticket out.
