Superman Returns Wich Cast is Better?

I have nothing against Routh and Spacey (I thought Routh was great) but nothing beats the original.

Christopher Reeve and Gene Hackman had better on-screen chemistry.

I can't hold Brandon at a fault. He is a growing actor. If even a little green. Brandon has some maturing to do to come completely up to speed. And the thing is that I can see great potential in Brandon. Brandon seems to be very capable of bringing out a performance worthy of the Last Son of Krypton. It's my opinion that he just didn't have the right people to bring that hidden talent out of him. That goes for Bryan too. Bryan cherishes the understatement far too much for the Superman franchise.

Kevin Spacey, on the other hand, is quite perfect for the role of Luthor. But Bryan, being a little too obsessed with the understatement, steered Kevin's performance into a direction that almost bordered into underacting.

So I think with the right acting coach and director who just gets it, both Brandon and Kevin have the potential to give a performance together that could rival the performances of Reeve and Hackman. Although Hackman's performance borrowed a little too heavily on the campy 60's era Luthor instead of the modern ruthless murderer we all know now.

I'm still all for the new cast. Gene Hackman's Lex was good but much too campy for my taste.

I liked Routh as much as Reeve for Superman but I put Spacey over Hackman's Lex. That is why I voted for SR stars on this one.

So what? Other people compared other actors from both films. Besides, it says which cast was better so I told my opinion. Get off my case.

I voted for Reeve and Hackman, because, as was mentioned previously, they had better chemistry between them. HOWEVER...I actually kind of find myself preferring Spacey's portrayal of Luthor simply because there's a bit more darkness and bitterness thrown into the mix, plus his choice in henchmen was shown to be a bit less compromising because of that.

I liked Routh but I hated Spacey. And Routh was essentially an imitation of CR, (who was perfect) so I voted for the original.

Of the original cast, I only like Reeve. I don't care for Kidder, and I'm indifferent to Hackman.

I love Christopher Reeve, but Hackman was way corny and campy as Lex.

Brandon Routh's performance as Supes blew me away, and Spacey was great and much more evil than Hackman.

So, I choose the cast of SR. Routh and Spacey for me, yay!!
