WiiU

Only Wii U games I'm even slightly interested in are ZombiU and Rayman Legends...both Ubisoft.

3DS, on the other hand, has me at Fire Emblem Awakening, Paper Mario, Castlevania, and New Super Mario.

Nintendo just posted this on Facebook. Thought I'd share.

Nope, nothing about the launch titles grabs me. If there's anything to be had with this then I'll wait until I see it cheap enough and get the games I want preowned. I didn't buy the 3DS and my Wii has been sitting there gathering dust for ages. I own maybe 8 Wii games and I got the thing on launch. I got a 360 for the Ghostbusters game and I own more than double the ammount of games. I got a PS3 about 4 months ago and have 5 games. I swear Nintendo have lost me.

Just 8? There were more than 8 great Wii games. Sounds like just a little too picky. lol

These are my favorite of the bunch.

ZombiU
Rayman Legends
Project P-100
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Lego City: Undercover
New Super Mario Bros U
Pikmin 3
Assassin's Creed 3

Well, for ages the Wii was the only thing I owned, so I got a bunch of multi platform games on it, like Spider-man 3, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, TMNT, etc. But eventually I gave up and ended up with:

WiiSports
WiiPlay
Red Steel
LoZ:TP
Maro Kart
Smash Bros
Indiana Jones and the whatever it was
New Super Mario Bros Wii
Donkey Kong Country Returns

So thats 9...

ZombiU, Super Mario Bros U, and Pikmin 3 will be enough to tide me over at launch. I'm assuming the WiiU can play Wii games so I still have all of those to hold me over.

Pikmin 3 (the water and enviroment just looked phenomenal), Darksiders 2(My most anticpiated game of the year), Batman(I'll buy Batman for anything), and surprisingly Scribblenauts are whats getting me to buy this day 1. Plus the thought of being able to play the games on the gamepad's screen while someone else wants to watch tv is really cool. Like what if I'm watching Netflix but my girlfriend comes into the living room and wants to watch one of her shows boom, I send the Netflix down to my gamepad screen and she can watch whatever she wants. That whole prospect I think is really cool and something that is not getting shown off enough.

And that could be a huge problem. It was a huge problem for the PS3's launch as there were no games you had to get.

They also had that insane price tag.

Nintendo really should have planned a game that would show off the console's power. Instead we get New Super Mario Bros for the Wii with HD graphics.

I'm actually looking forward to the size of the gamepad honestly. There are very few systems with controllers that are big enough to be comfortable in my gigantic hands. Most of the Wii and DS related things I've played cause hand cramps if I play for any extended period of time. The WiiU gamepad looks like it might actually be big enough for me.

Wii U Third Party Stand Alone Controller by Mad Catz

The first of many I am thinking

I must be some freak of nature as every controller feels natural to me. Even the Dreamcast controller with it's oddly placed cord...

No I'm with you, there hasn't been a controller I wasn't able to feel comfortable with. The Dreamcast and the N64 controllers definitely stand out as "WTF is that?" when you look at them, but they were fine.

I have no issues thinking this pro controller will be perfectly fine. It's a 360 controller (possible the best designed controller ever) with the right joystick switched up. If it wasn't good to hold Nintendo would have redesigned it, plain and simple.

I didn't have a problem with the Gamecube controller or the 360 controller, but playing with the Wii Classic Controller and my 3DS is just damned awkward due to their size. Big people need big controllers.

Great info in this article. A few things that stood out:

  • Achievements will be present, but not mandatory. Some games will have them and some may not.
  • Friend Codes are back, but will be easier to use.
  • Playing Wii U games on the GamePad screen rather than on a TV screen is a "capability [that] is there for every game but it's a developer's choice if they want that to be part of the experience."
  • You can transfer game saves and purchased content from you Wii to Wii.

Much more at the jump.

Sounds good to me :woot:

I just wish they would drop friggin' friend codes. Good to see achievements the games that won't have them will probably be the shovelgames.. So...

Friend codes are annoying, though I never got into playing Wii online. I hope there is a decent online component with the WiiU, but I'll probably stick to my Xbox for competitive multiplayer.
