WiiU

Ok, every Gamestop in Denver and Aurora are out of Wii U reservations. I got lucky to get the last 8GB Wii U at a Gamestop in walking distance from my house. I found a Toys R Us that still had Deluxe Wii U reservations and picked up pre-order there.

So so far I have each Wii U reserved. Just in case something goes wrong at one store, I fallback on the other. Plus I'm on Gamestop's waiting list to upgrade my basic Wii U pre-order to the Deluxe pre-order if more become available.

This is looking to be just as crazy as when the Wii came out.
Nice that that will offer an upgrade to the Deluxe if it's available.
Well I'll get New Super Mario Bros Wii U for sure, and Rayman Legends....but no Pikmin 3 at launch? Sad. ZombiU is interesting to me. Maybe it will be an actual survival horror, and not just action like some once great survival horror series use to be.
Pikmin 3 is coming out in March. Nintendo Land's Pikmin attraction is being used to get people interested in the game, IMO.

I'm so pumped for Pikmin 3...but I'm kind of glad it's not a launch title. I already have CoD, Halo 3 (both paid off..but still..), the WiiU itself PLUS NSMBU and ZombiU to pick up. My wallet is already hurting. It needs a breather, haha.

Same here, and it gives them more time to polish an already beautiful game.

Since Pikmin 3 is missing the launch, there is officially no Nintendo title I will buy with my Nintendo (pack-in Nintendo Land does NOT count). It does, however, make room for Sonic & Chums Racing 2 (alongside must-buy Rayman Legends). So Sonic Karts & Rayman now instead of Pikmin & Rayman...

You're not even considering NSMBU?

Yeah, that is a must have. They call it the actual successor to SMW on SNES.

I ain't gonna lie.. The first Sonic Racing game was all sorts of fun.

Yeah, they had me with that. I needed less SMB3 and more SMW with my NSMB titles. They're giving me that apparently... Pumped now.

I also wouldn't mind another Yoshi's Island title...

I loved the original New Mario (DS). But the console New Mario games (Wii and Wii U) are not the same as the (IMO) much better handheld New Marios. I tried New Mario U at that event I went to and it is really more of the same New Mario Wii schtick, which I didn't like.

And even though I do love the portable DS New Mario, after Mario 3D Land, I'd much rather have another one of those over more New Mario, DS, 3DS, Wii or U...the 3DS sequel was again more of the same...and with the number reaching installment 4 there's really nothing "new" about NSMB...

I just feel like I need to point out that this is like an opinion straight out of Bizarro World.

I take it you like the console NSMB more than the handheld versions?

I wasn't really talking about my opinion, but the popular opinion at large. Which is NSMB Wii and by all appearances NSMB U are good, and the handheld ones are the weaker efforts.

Actually, I enjoyed the DS game far more than the Wii game. I didn't even finish the Wii game.

So apparently the reason Bayonetta 2 is a Wii U exclusive is because Nintendo is paying for its development and as such will be the sole publisher of it. So obviously Nintendo's competitors aren't getting a port/version of a game Nintendo is backing.

Is that true, tho? Is publishing the game the same as paying for its development? If not, then does that mean Nintendo can be the sole publisher, but it still somehow spills onto other consoles?

If they want to be nice technically they can port it, but after owning the title, that would be like porting Mario or Metroid at this point.

Yeah, people are gonna try to jack those things whenever they can. They aren't cheap.

I see. Is it more to do with the Single player experience over the Multiplayer one?

I just think the Wii version is a lot more fun, where the DS version (which I love) is a better to play alone.

The first game wasn't published by Nintendo (Sega did), which is the reason it was on PS3/XB360. This sequel was dead in the water until Nintendo put their money in it. Usually, if a company is publishing a game, they are also paying the studio for development. It's more or less the same as seeing MGS: Twin Snakes (published by Nintendo) on another console. It's not going to happen. If it's true that they're the sole publisher, it means that Sega is not involved anymore and means that it will remain on Wii U, and it looks like Platinum might be strictly Nintendo for a while.

Those pictures really show just how small the console is going to be. That's awesome.

Actually the Wii U is bigger (rather longer) than the Wii. When asked if that was the actual size of the system we were all told it was just the size for the demo/display models. But it looks like...yeah, the actual WU is that long.
