So wait.... It's bundled with Nintendo Land AND NSMBU?
I did not hear NSMBU, it was stuttering on the live feed for me. But the sticker is just Nintendo Land I think. And a 2 year thing for the online premium pass.
Price point is around what I expected for the basic, but the premium model is an awesome deal. Plus Nintendo is packing HDMI cables with both, which is shocking, since Nintendo usually only gives the basics and M$/Sony don't bundle them with their consoles.Wii U Price, Release Date Announced

During its Wii U preview event in New York City today, Nintendo revealed the release date for Wii U. The system will be available on November 18th in North America in two configurations:
The Basic set will have 8GB of memory and includes the console, a GamePad, an HDMI cable, a sensor bar and an AC adapter. The basic set will be $299.99 in the United States.
The Deluxe set will have 32GB of internal memory and includes everything in the Basic configuration, plus a GamePad charging cradle, a stand for both GamePads and the console itself, plus a copy of Nintendo Land. The Deluxe set will be $349.99 in the United States.
In Europe, Wii U will be released on November 30th. A sensor bar will not be included in Europe.
Earlier today, Nintendo also announced that Wii U will arrive on December 8th in Japan.
Nintendo previously declined to announce Wii Us price and release date at E3, but rumors have pointed to both ever since. A rumor just last week suggested a November 11th release and three price points, while earlier rumors suggested a higher price of $435. Reports in August also suggested that Wii U is facing a manufacturing nightmare that could delay its international release.
I didn't expect TVii to be this integrated, but it makes sense considering that M$ is making 720 an entertainment console."Nintendo TVii" Announced

In the wake of Nintendo's original Wii becoming such a popular device used to stream video services like Netflix, Nintendo has announced a new entertainment initiative for the new Wii U: "Nintendo TVii."
Described as a way to "Find, Watch and Engage with TV, Movies and Sports," Nintendo TVii is a wildly cross-integrated entertainment solution that will turn your Wii U GamePad into a "second screen experience" while you watch your favorite content. Miis will be used to mark off personalized favorites for different family members in the same household, while the GamePad will let you control your DVR to record shows, set favorites, tweet your reactions to live moments on TV and more.
Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video and Tivo will each be integrated. "Bringing all of your services to one place," is how President Reggie Fils-Aime describes Nintendo TVii.
Nintendo TVii is included with every Wii U purchase, with no additional fees.
We'll have more details soon, so stay tuned.

You shouldn't be surprised, as Nintendo stated long ago that Wii U will have a small SSD, and that you could plug SD Cards and Externals with them. For the casual person, that is plenty of space. HDD's are ridiculously cheap now, so you could always buy one. Those are some tiny HDDs
They haven't announced price for the GamePad in the US yet, but I expect it to be around $80-90.and the price for the gamepad is predictably expensive, but everything else sounds great.
HDD's are ridiculously cheap now
They said from the beginning that space was going to be small and that people could use externals and SD cards. What's the point in including a bigger drive when it won't be filled by the average person? Then Nintendo shouldn't have had a problem including larger ones.

Hell, I have friends and family that own a Wii, and haven't even filled the 512mb capacity.
You can get a TB external for around $60-70 now, so why have them jack up the price for bigger storage?
I think it has a lot to do with loading times, heating efficiency, and read/write speed by going flash. 8gb will be more than enough for the casual person.Yeah, using flash mem is a head scratcher. HDD's are super cheap at the moment.
If the GamePad wasn't the actual controller for the system and they still used an upgraded Wiimote, I would agree, but the things that it can do justify the price, IMO.As far as the console price, I think it is too high. Should be $250 and $300 IMo.
For the people that do that, then they have the option of adding an external. Research has shown lately that people are using consoles for other purposes over gaming, so they won't be filling up all that space. This is not the wii though. This is supposed to be on the PS3/360 level as far as downloads go. 32gb will get eaten up quick with game installs, updates, full game downloads, etc.
Same here.Glad I have a bazillion external HDDs... No issues for me.
