Comedy Wile E. Coyote vs. ACME

It's gonna be pretty funny to me if this movie bombs, considering how big of a stink people made about it.

I just hope that people actually turn up to support the thing instead of using it as an opportunity to jump on Zaslav and Gunn and nothing more.

Well, we don't even know if it's getting a theatrical release. Also, if it does, I think it will do OK. Also, even if it bombs, it should still get released.

We've seen plenty of bombs over the years become recognized as classic seminal films. See Blade Runner, The Shining, and The Iron Giant.

It’s less that people expect him to and more that clearly in an ideal world as an extremely rich, successful and powerful person he would. I don’t blame Gunn, I’d probably be quiet too (and maybe he pushed behind the scenes - we don’t know), but it’s not like he’s living paycheck to paycheck. He could never work with WB again and still be a hugely successful director elsewhere. The power disparity is pretty irrelevant when both parties are wealthy and have nothing to lose other than a job they don’t need to survive.

Seems like Gunn does care and probably did have something to do with the movie getting saved and that him playing internal studio politics and being loyal worked out better than if he had tweeted insults at Zaslav about it. Who knew?

I never said him pushing behind the scenes to solve it wasn’t a better choice lol

It wouldn't surprise me if Gunn played a role in this outcome considering he's head of DC Studios.

Also, his silence over this isn't shocking or surprising. It's understandable. People who do that get fired. Look what happened with Victoria Alonso, even if they arguably have a valid or legitimate gripe or position.

Gunn has significantly more clout than Cena does. Exponentially more.
True, but I suggested him as an addition to Gunn, not in place of him. And because it's someone who would care less about losing his job than Gunn would if he spoke out.

My theory/hope was that Gunn was moving behind the scenes to pressure the suits into reversing course on this. We'll probably never know what happened for sure, but clearly SOMETHING pushed Zaslav hard to get him to reverse.

I just hope this gets a proper theatrical release now, and it becomes a proper hit. Keep Netflix's dirty hands off this!

Gunn didn't get his job because he was going to challenge Zaslav.

You know, Cena's been pretty silent on this as well, even post-SAG-AFTRA strike.

Eric Bauza, who likely voices a lot of the Looney Tunes in the film has not been silent at all.

Well, it should've been a federal investigation into WBD overall due to scrapping near-finished projects and other crap Zaslaz has done and pulled since his tenure.

Thank freaking god. This should have happened eons ago.
Castro has been advocating for this for a long time. He opposed the Warner Bros Discovery merger for breach of anti-trust laws. It's just other folks are finally catching up to him.

The movie isn't even truly "saved" yet. Zaslav is just letting the filmmakers shop it around. Who knows what sales terms or prices will be acceptable to WBD to not can the film for tax reasons.

The fact that Zaslav's solution to this PR nightmare is to sell a film starring century old iconic Warner IP and is testing extremely well to another distributer or streaming service is all anyone needs to know about the mess going on at that studio.

Also, he would probably get arrested if he shelved the movie while under investigation.

I'm not sure if he's actually under investigation, I think he congressman is saying there should be an investigation but yes, i totally agree with you, regardless it would be completely idiotic to move forward with that decision.

There's no way this doesn't get released now with all the press it's generated.
