Will she play the role like Margot did, with spunk and a sense of humor??

Personally I didn't like Kate as Lois Lane. She didn't seem to fit the part in my opinion. I understand they were goin for that younger look, which is in all fine, but for some reason I didnt really care for her. Margrot Kidder was wonderfull as Lois Lane, sassy, spunky and all that.
Its hard to say how she will play the role,as the movie is a long ways off.
I'm just wondering what they were thinking casting the guy who played Jimmy Olsen. Maybe it was just the lines he was giving, and they way he delivered. He seemed to geekish for the part too much trying to be a comedian..

I agree with you 100 percent. Kidder's performance was phenomenal and Bosworth was bland. And you are sooo right about Jimmy Olson!!!

I liked Kate's performance. It wasn't the same version of Lois that Kidder portrayed, but then again, neither was Teri Hatcher's or Delaney's yet they were great in their respective performances.

Kate's Lois is a much more emotional character, yet she has a strong heart. She's a mother now and obviously, she's more reserved and toned down. This being said however, I think Singer will make her incorporate a bit of spunk into the character because of many of the fans demands.

I hope not. Kidder is Kidder, Bosworth is Bosworth. I was a kid when I saw Superman the first time and the only thing I knew that didn't work (even if I didn't read comics at the time) was Margot Kidder's portrayal of Lois Lane.
I think it is one of the worst interpretation of the character.
Well I don't "hold a grudge" against her, trying to build a character from the comics at that time was a lot more difficult than today.
But I preferred K.Bosworth's portrayal. She is not my favorite but I think she's great ... great with what the story gave her. I mean with a new love, a Superman disappearance and a CHILD (for God's sake), I think it is incredibly difficult to play the Lois Lane as we know her.
Well, She plays the part as if she were a woman of the sixties, you know, strong, deciding woman. A woman who has a job. ala Audrey Hepburn.
I think it fits perfectly the role. I find her great even if , IMO, the story doesn't help her at all.

well she's bland in life so don't expect too much on screen- seeing her on jonathan ross was hilarious because he didn't know how to do jokes when she was being so serious

I sure hope she is more like Margot in the sequel!

If she wasn't that much like Margo in the original, she certainly won't in the sequel.

I hope she's nothing like Margo's Lois. If anything Kate plays a Lois much closer to Noel Neil's.

I don't know if bland is the word but she does come off as too serious and not all that engaging in interviews. She is not a mischievious type or a prankster or a naughty but nice type. She is not spunky.

But if you see a Margot or Teri or Erica interview these actresses in real life have that spunky side to them. They laugh easily in interviews, do not take themselves too seriously. Naturally a part of them is indeed like Lois. They are earthy individuals, all 3, in the best sense of the word

Not so with Bosworth from what I've seen in interviews. And she was not able through her acting to engage that bring forth that Lois earthiness. I would hope for a recast in any sequel.

Well, maybe she should find a way to make Lois her own rather than doing it the Singer way and taking from Donner....

Which is what she did in SR and what she will likely continue to do in the other movies.

Margot Kidder was the worst choice ever for Lois Lane, and I hope her awful performance is never repeated. I don't like Bosworth either.

Her performance was her own. It was like no recent Lois Lane before it and definately wasnt anything like Kidders.

She played it like a classic Audrey Hepurn-type, which is essentially making the character her own.

I simply cannot believe you compared Kate Bosworth in Superman Returns, Kate Bosworth in general, to Audrey Hepurn. I understand that you like the movie, but what the hell.

All I will say about Bosworth is that she was atleast better than Margot Kidder, who's Lois should go down as one of the most annoying on screen characters ever. It doesn't help that Margot is and was ugly as sin. Atleast if she was attractive we could have had something to look at. If you can't find someone with acting ability, atleast find someone attractive.

It would be nice if Bosworth played the role like Lois Lane. Why do we want her to make it her own? They have 60 years of history and 2 great movies to draw from and it she played it as bland as could be.

Bosworth should study Lois from S:TAS, not Kidder.

Yes.

I'm not so sure KB could pull of the Kidder mode, even if her life depended on it. The persona doesn't seem to fit KB in any way. The STAS version is closer to what she might realistically be able to achieve.

I feel that KB was not given enough material to work with. I don't blame her as much as I blame the script. I hope in the sequel Lois is warmer to Superman and Clark. The plane sequence was amazing when Lois first saw Superman again, I felt you can see that they connected there.
