Will Smith 'casting as Richard Williams' sparks colourism debate

Hollywood has an idea of what they think is considered beautiful. Their stars will reflect that. They will also go for big stars that will 1/ get investment to get the film made. 2/ get bums on seats to watch it. It's all about money not race.

Also there is a huge matter of perception. I remember Idris Elba saying that there is more opportunity for black actors in america. But there is also more opportunity for asian actors in the uk. This is because film and tv reflect the countries they are made. America has a bigger black population than the uk percentage wise, and the uk has a much bigger asian population. Nigeria has one of the biggest film industries in the world. Most of their actors are black and dark black at that.
