The Dark Knight William Fichtner - Wasted?

Top 10 Things I learned while browsing this thread:

2. Mr. Superhero has way too much time on his hands.
3.-10. Both The Guard and Mr. Superhero have way too much time on their hands.

*giggle* you did a funny :]

also, Fichtner is very much a 'that guy' actor, and as 'Bank Manager' performs the role perfectly well, enough said.

He's a decent actor, but I don't think his role was wasted. He got some screentime with The Joker, so that's something.

he wasnt wasted at all, "cameo" is the term in this case

remember, his casting is a nod to the '95 film Heat

far as im concerned, if he had turned down the role, he wouldn't have shared any screen time with Heath in all his glory.

Exactly.

Question, I watched the prolgue but something Fichtner said didn't register. He said something before the line "They would have done the same to you" but I couldn't make it out. Can anyone remember what he was saying there?

"You have any idea who you're stealin' from?!?!"

"You and your friends are DEAD!!!"

sorry that wasnt a response to urs ronny, lemme look real quick

oh he says --->

"Think you’re smart, huh? You guys are hired goons. They’ll just do the same to you. The criminals in this town used to believe in things. Honor. Respect. Look at you! What do you believe in, huh? WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE IN!?"

(he coughs during that "you guys are hired goons" tho so its a little hard to make out)

Thanks, I thought I heard the word "hired" or "hinds" but on the YouTube vid the quality isn't that great.

Thanks for clearing up that line jad. I could never make out that line either.

no prob, i always gotta do my research anytime i cnt make out a line in a movie, or a song lyric or whatever

i know this isnt probably isnt that true but does it seem that the joker prologue may be pretty violent for a batman movie, like i dont know, seeing the joker shooting people with that glock with no remorse made me think about virginia tech. kinda stirred up some bad images, for me at least i ono

Most people won't make that connection - completely different situation.

Wonder if it really was a Glock (should be capitalised since Glock is a company)

yea, i dont know why i make that connection with most violent stuff now tho, i guess with how brutal and shocking it was

The sad and ironic thing is that if personal guns were legal there the whole incident could've been sidestepped - namely, the teacher would've at least popped him a couple before anything happened

I say we have stephan spielberg gets TDK and edits out all the guns and replaces them with walky talkys. Guns makes me sad

seriously; if people get bad memories when seeing a shoot out then they shouldn't be watching something like that. Granted I don't think many people are expecting that when watching a Batman movie

true, and i just meant in those kinds of scenes now where theres no remorse or emotion in shooting people like that, for whatever reason i think of VT, but with a movie like shoot em up, i loved it and thought it was great, but other movies where a character has no real reason to be shooting people i start getting weird about it

Well I wasn't there at VT so I can't say the state the killer was in. Overall stuff like that just doesn't bother me. I think since with some of the horror stories I have heard VT just didn't sound as bad.

Well, after a tragedy like that perhaps it is natural for some people to be aprehensive about lots of guns and killings. I'm afraid it's the all-too-common break in the fact/fiction line. After a horrific event people direct their negative memories at fictional media in a subconcious attempt to feel better. Films were once more widely targeted but now the focus has shifted to violent videogames. Sometimes we really can't help but feel that violence in the arts hits too close to home sometimes.
Although not everyone sees it this way. In relation to the Virginia Tech Massacre I have seen people describe the killer as a martyr. On DeviantArt no less. He killed a bunch of innocent kids and some poor old man who survived the Holocaust and they feel there is some nobility in his actions. Do you ever feel that the world needs a doctor? Because it seems like a real sick place sometimes.

well we have a whole generation of wannabe anarchists and fake sociopaths who have been united by the internet. It has gotten so bad in our society that people go to great lengths to be the type who want to shock the social norm.

yea and some who just want to do something that will make them infamous
