Imagine if The Dark Knight was not a movie, but an episode of a Batman TV series, or pehaps a whole season.

Obviously it would not be able to afrord the A-List actors the actual movie was filled with.

Cast TDK as you think it would have been if they could not afford the cast they actually had:

Bruce Wayne/Batman: Steve Burton

The Joker: Sean Astin

Harvey Dent / Two-Face: Joel Gretsch

James Gordon: Tom Skerritt

Rachel Dawes: Julie Ann Emery

Alfred Pennyworth: Colin Spaull

Lucius Fox: Nathaniel DeVeaux

Sean Astin is a little short and chubby to play the Joker, don't you think?

I don't know about short, but he could lose a bit of weight.

I chose him because when I first watched the Patriot, (Which is the first and only Heath Ledger movie I remember watching before TDK.) I thought that Gabriel Martin was in fact played by Sean Astin.

They were THAT similar. (To me at least.)

IMDB says he's only 5'6", so he's too short to play the Joker. The Joker's actor should be at least Steve Burton's height (5'11") if not taller.

Isn't the Joker supposed to be ridiculously tall, like 6'5" or 6'6" or some nonsense like that? The tallest of the Joker actors was the late Cesar Romero on the 60s show, and he was 6'2".

Hey Bat Fans..I'm not a Newbie when I type this but an Old Ninja ("LK") who is back....

Now on with the topic...A Dark Knight/Smallville idea is great....But since I have the funds(j/k) to cast a "CW" Batman Season..here goes...

My version of this young Bruce Wayne in college... would place this show/name "Gotham City" in a sexy, drama, action field of students going on about college life in Season 1 mainly about Bruce finding about the murder of his father which went to a "Cold Case" with no suspect to only find out it was someone Bruce knew close to his unknown family member and a young robber/comedian "Joker" in attempted to rob the Wayne Family in a resulted murder of Bruce's Father and leaving Bruce's mother in a forever coma.

Season 2(quick plot) The Joker find's out that Bruce's mother might come out of her coma and maybe let the GPD know about the murder of her husband leading Joker to pull the plug on Bruce's mother to ensure his freedom.
Bruce becomes depressed but secretly Trainning Various Arts of combat to ensure Gotham's safety. With Bruce being a Ninja Biker..He soon wears his trademark "Dark Knight" biker suit!!!!(not the suit from the "DK" movie but similar)

Batman"Student": Sean Faris (Never Back Down")-very serious!

Joker"Student": Cam Gigandet (Pandorum)-he has the smile and punk Joker look!

Harvey Dent / Two-Face"College President": Lee Thompson Young(TF Jett Jackson/FlashForward)

James Gordon: Linus Roache (Law and Order"09"/Batman Begins)

Rachel Dawes: Erica Durance (portrays Lois Lane in Smallville) why not?

Alfred Pennyworth: (William Petersen)(CSI" Dr. Gil Grissom")-if possible!

Lucius Fox"Pres. of Wayne E.": Harry Lennix (The Matrix Trilogy/Stomp The Yard)

Now this show would waste no time on bringing Bruce's trademark Suit unlike Smallvillie.
Bruce would have a "bat" bike for two seasons then maybe a Batmobile later.
And this would be a damm good show no doubt!
The idea's of this show could go endless.

let me know what you guys think!

^I've long wanted a Smallville-esque take on Bruce Wayne. I like your general idea except for the part about Martha Wayne being in a coma. I know it's not that different from being dead but I don't want the traditional story deviated from.

Isn't the Joker supposed to be ridiculously tall, like 6'5" or 6'6" or some nonsense like that? The tallest of the Joker actors was the late Cesar Romero on the 60s show, and he was 6'2".

That's why I say that the Joker actor only has to be as tall as Batman's actor, realistically.

How would a Smallville Bruce Wayne take be good at all?....Who would he take on?

Had no idea Joker was suppose to be tall?....Always thought he was short.

In the right hands it could be brilliant.

Especially since that's how most artists draw them anyway, cartoon or comic book. Still, I find the idea of a 6'5" Joker absurd. That makes him taller than the 6'3" Superman. I mean come on now, Joker taller than Superman? That's just -worthy.

Maybe after the Nolan series is over they could do a Smallville-esque take on Bruce Wayne.....But it should not have Bruce mom in a coma she should be dead...And it should last 5 seasons....5th season being Batman:Year One were he is fighting crime in his first year as Batman....Bring Joker in that seasons not before....Joker should appear when Batman appears....But the previous seasons he could take on minor villians in his rouge gallery that general audience have no idea who they are...Like Twiddle dumb twins, humpty dumpty, the cavalier, that dude who think he is Zeus, calender man, ect.

Big fan of Burton's film, eh? :cwink:

p.s. I think that is the longest sentence I have ever seen! lol

I rather have Joe Chill be the one behind Bruce parents death and not Joker.

How would a Smallville Bruce Wayne take be good at all?....Who would he take on?

He would take on younger versions of his future adversaries or new villains could even be invented. Obviously the whole series would be very alternate universe.

Had no idea Joker was suppose to be tall?....Always thought he was short.

Lol, how could you think that?

Well since its gonna be in an alternative universe, can we have 100% Miller style Bruce Wayne....Remember its alternative universe.

And I thought Joker was suppose to be short cause of all the actors who played him was not tall....Had no idea he was 6 foot 6...Goddamn thats close to 7 feet....Had no idea Joker was that tall.

Fan of Burton? Not really.

As for the long sentence, look at the time I type'd that. Sorry!

RachelDawes thanks for the support!!! My ideas are always something else. Thanks.

Just in case any of you don't know...Smallville originally *was* a proposed tv series called 'Bruce Wayne'. I can't recall who came up with the idea but he gets a cut from SV to this day, but no onscreen credit.
They got the idea to do a young Superman show from a proposed 'Bruce Wayne' episode called 'Smallville' where BW meets the young CK at some young reporters convention or something. Been a while since I read about this so memory is sketchy on details of what the ep was supposed to be.

Anyway, only tv actor I can think of to play a good Batman is Christopher Meloni from Oz and that other crime show, L&O is it? Big intimidating guy, great actor.

I think it could Rachel.....Its in an alternative universe so Bruce could fight his rogue gallery.

Yes your right Fresh!!!!! A bully punk Joker,Rich fat cobblepot, sexy liar P.Ivey...etc.

Yeah some of these ideas could work & some not?

No Joker can be a serial killer like he is in the comics...Cobblepot can be a spoiled rich kid, who is in the criminal under world working for a mobster and P.Ivy can be P. Ivy...Most of the characters can stay the same....Bruce Wayne can still criem fight....Remember before he was Batman he did crime fight as a masked vigilante.

Yes which makes believe the show could be more of a grown up show with young characters! Imagen a Corp called The Green Lantrens aka "SVU" working on a case leading them and Bruce on the same case being di*ks to eachother trying to solve a case before one another!

Wow a young 21-24 yr old Bruce.W. Being one of the best detectives working alone, haveing cops ask him for help...epic!
