Yes it is still early to comment. However when some people claimed it looked like Bourne footage, I got more of a Batman Begins vibe. The tone of the short footage so far does have a similar quality. More of a serious attempt (thank God).

Is there anyway that the new MOS movie could actually cross paths with the Nolan Batman trilogy? Or did Nolan ground those so far into reality that for a Batman/Superman or a JL movie would still have to be in a separate universe?

There is no more Nolan's Batman after TDKR.

Not to give the ending away, but it doesn't leave any room for the character to continue beyond that point. It wouldn't make sense.

It ends.

Whoops can a friendly mod fix the title to "With MOS looking to have a tone similar to BB... Does that open the door a crack?"

I was hoping that would be false :(

I'm not sure what you heard, but the ending to TDKR is great.

It respects the character.

I think it could be one of the most iconic endings in movie history

Unless Batman Begins and Bourne featured a man capable of taking off from the ground like a jet.............no. Of course at the end of the day. Nolan didn't want supers in his universe. The Wb can tell the next director to merge the worlds.

I did get a BB feel to it in a way that it will establish him well enough to ground the character in a modern universe. He will go through personal struggles and come into being Superman. I just hope that the payoff is better than BB as I didn't really like the 2nd half of BB.

Either way I just dont see them crossing over into one anothers worlds, just wouldnt work.

More in love with nolan plots and villains than his actual batman characterization(especially in TDK), I'd rather they never meet.

They will never meet, but should make for some great fan art!

Nopes. But this will keep in line with continuing this hyper realism approach to movies DC has and hopefully lead into the Will beall justice league film.

Thankfully no. Nolan's Batman story should stay as it intends as a unique set of films. If this Superman is ever to appear with Batman, they should just establish their own or start their own JL.n Despite being based on characters that do interact at times, movie-wise, it's be most respectful to leave the Batman to start and end/operate on its own terms.

I'd be good with a little Batman reference in the film, either to show if it's in the same world as BB or if they are in fact different.

Nolan really can't tell WB what to do, they own the rights to the character. Bale has said he's done with Batman, so to me it's pointless to go in that direction. It would only make sense if you could get Christian Bale onboard.

Doesn't mean they should.
Ya, I'm still not a fan of bringing these incarnations together. Although they probably will for 2015... Maybe with a different Batman (who would mov onto the new franchise, most likely), but probably with Cavill. Makes more sense to have one actor inhabit the part at a time...

Depends how TDKR ends, if they off batman then no, if they keep him alive its always possible, you just have to make batman older then the rest of the league. They managed to make tony stark blend in well with the avengers and i would consider iron man grounded in reality, so i don't see the problem.

they could be in the same world, but setting tdkr 8 years after tdk, makes it kinda look like it won't happen. batman would be too old, and presumably have been around before superman came to metropolis. plus a world where a microwave emitter that doesn't fatally dehydrate a human being can definitely have a superpowered alien in it.
but here's how i see it: MoS -> justice league -> new batman franchise(maybe) or just the justice league batman in jl only. that's really the only way i see a batman and superman team up occurring.

However TDKR ends, it will be the last Batman for Nolan and Bale. If WB wants it to be the 'same' Batman for later (in his mid-forties, no less), it'll be a different actor and creative team behind him that they'll just be connecting with Nolan's Batman...which would be worse than just starting up a new one.

i don't know what everybody is talking about it, but from what i seen of the SDCC footage, it didn't follow any likeness of BB. Now, the only similarity is how both movies is doing the origin, but it's a different tone. BB was realistic, but MoS had a more epic god-like quality about it.

that isn't to say that both universe is the same. Gotham is Gotham, Metropolis is Metropolis. What's kool is that Superman is an alien, a place where Batman hasn't dealt with in the Nolan-verse, so i don't see any problems where both Gotham and Metroplis co-exist

Iron Man didn't exactly make special room for an alien planet of Nordic Gods to exist and travel to Earth, etc. So it's not really about 'getting them to jive'. That's the least of issues. It's more the timing of the franchises...specifically one storyline coming to an end...and the fact that even if it weren't, Nolan wasn't making his movies to be part of a bigger superhero/DC world and he had no interest in it. So if WB still wanted to do it, it'd be an afterthought without the creative endorsement or involvement of anyone from the Nolan Films...which would make it pointless to do as a surrogate or what have you.

If they want to do a JL, they should pan it and shoot for it from the get-go like Marvel did with their movies/Avengers. Don't just shove it in mid-stream or try to hang on to something that says it's done.

plus...Marvel is lucky that none of those films were quite as horrible as Gl was. Even if they had JL plans in mind with that, GL's probably something they wished never happened and would like to avoid any such association with in the near future.

It's more complicated than that. Bruce can't go back to being Batman after the end of TDKR, its a huge game changer.
