Wobbly Bits...

TheReaper, I've only got some old doodles and story notes for this one I'm afraid.

the_ultimate_evil, the older pic was colored mainly with markers (petrol/alcohol based) and finishing touches were added with water colors (got the big A3 original framed & hanging on my wall).

The new one (and almost all the stuff I've done for about a year now) was drawn manually in black & white inks, scanned in and colored in photoshop

Here's the nearly finished pic for the other idea I had in mind for the March comp:

Needs more work in spots but its near enough done to get feedback.

The story is another old one Ive had in mind for ages, basically an attempt at doing a real world, real physics (as near as dammit) superhero.
Never done too much with it though as related themes have been covered pretty damn well in Miracleman and Watchmen, but I might go back to it one day

(btw, the Superman t-shirt is a joke gift from Abby, his girlfriend in the story).


Not really sure which of the two I should enter in the comp atm, so any suggestions and thoughts would be appreciated

I like doing both, but do lean to the art side. Unfortunately I'm not overly prolific in either. I know I should really try to get more done with these; even if nothing came of them publishing wise, or the result is a pile of cr#p, at least I'd have a full blown finished work to my name

ok, only a few hours till I have to post one of the above pics in the comp. I'm leaning towards the war pic myself (first ideas usually the best). Seems more self contained and requires less presumption to understand whats going on, so I'll probably go with that in the end

I haven't seen Hellboy yet (we don't get the film in the UK until September!!) but I've a friend who lives in New Jersey who has and they told me about a cool graphic in the opening titles of the film drawn in the style of Da Vinci's classic 'man' drawing.

Got me thinking that I'd like see that as a finished pic and since I've got some unexpected time on my hands I thought I'd take a crack at it and came up with this:

This is based on the original Da Vinci sketch and the info my friend could give me on the films graphic which is apparently reversed out and glowing (couldn't give me much more than that as it only appears briefly?).

And this one below is the original pencil sketch before getting the photoshop treatment:

The letterring, if you can read any of it, is in Italian (I don't speak it, the translation's were all done through 'Babelfish', so it'd probably sound like gibberish to anyone who can speak it

Edited: Forgot to do his tail, doh!! Since added to the pencils and re-did the colored version from them.

Thanks Kryptonian and I'm very happy you like the story ideas. I've been writing notes and so on to try and make at least one 22 page issue out of the 'Man Of War' story, so it's very nice to know before hand that people might like the idea

This is a request pic that I've inked & colored for Lone, who drew and provided the pencils:

I liked the background effect I used for the Hellboy pic so I used the same 'marble' filter in Eyecandy for this one too (never been one to waste a nice effect once I've found it )

Thanks for the comps on the Hellboy pic. Oddly enough I like it a lot more than the one I have entered in the comp, and it took far less time to do too!!

Anyway, and in a shameless bump of this thread, here's a work in progress I'm doing as a request for a friend (since I like the Hulk too it's no hardship to me either):

These are just the basic pencils, from here I'd normally just tighten everything up before inking and hitting photoshop, but I'm thinking of hand-painting this one for a change so I can have the big A3 original for myself
