Wobbly Bits...

It looks a lot better, I think. The logo fits nicely.

And I really like the new avatar, including Rose. Shes like my fave piece of yours for some reason. I also think its your best piece, by far.

WObbly, in the Doc Strange sketch, what are the purpose of the cross hair like lines on her hands? I'm wondering if it might be a helpful tool for me to use in future pieces...

I thiiink that might be where he intended the lense flare to be. But then again i could be wrong and wobble-wobble might have some secret WOBBLE-TECHNIQUE that only him and his teacher Pai Mei use to punch their fists through solid wood and draw women with really sexy legs.

I went to Pei Mei's crib.

Twas a Cruel Tourlage...!

HA! GET IT!?

Tutorlage...TOurlage!

HAHAHAHAHA!

LOL, The crosshairs was just me fiddling about doing an half-arsed background rather than rendering one properly. I knew I was going to do some sort of 'special effect' around the hands, I doodled some bits mainly with a 'krackle' effect in mind and yes, as Nosebleed said, I added those xhairs with the much maligned Lens-flares in mind as a posibility too ;):)

As far as the figurework or layout was concerned, they served absolutely no function at all if thats any help:)

I love the artwork, especially the pose of that 'thunder-Hulk' thing you did in the 2nd comic strip you posted.

Thanks. That character isn't meant to be anything like the Hulk really (other than being vein-poppingly huge), but I won't give anything away on just what it is in case I ever get off my backside long enough to actually do the story :)

No Problem. I'm sure if the story was finished, it'd be great. So you keep on Wobblin'!

Saph- being all polite and stuff just to not come across as a total n00b, and also is very impressed by wobbly's art as well!

Here's the more or less finished pencils for what I might enter in this months Comp:

FF_PENCILS.jpg

When I ink this I might have to do the faces seperately to make them look like the actors them copy them over, as on the paper (A3) they are still quite small to work with (about one inch tops in height) so getting a good likeness, even with the reference I have for them, is that much harder at that size.

Also undecided as to do the usual method (inks, scan then color is PS) or try some digital 'painting' again (having got one out of the way it ought to be a bit easier next time). Will also tweak the costumes a bit as well, though as they are now they do kinda match the description we have of them (a cross between the Ultimate & traditional versions)

And for the BG, since there's still plenty of time, rather than a generic backdrop I was thinking of drawing and assembling a collage of 'Friends & Foes'.

i have two criticisms of that FF drawing Wobbs, and they're both to do with The Thing.

- the hands. is he meant to have only three fingers and a thumb? i don't see why he'd lose a finger.

- his face. he looks almost TOO human. i know, this is what we're expecting for the film. i just think if the face was a little broader, a little more familiar to what we're used to seeing, it'd "crank it up a notch" to quote ol' Bender :D

otherwise, FAB drawing, can't wait to see the coloured version!

and all your work up til now.... fantastic! great to see a fellow Brit doing such high-quality work!

i wish i could do this stuff :(

The thing does have only 4 digits on all his hands and feet, always has, afaik.

As for the face, I want this to hopefully look like what we will see in the movie. Im only guessing, but as they say Chiklis' face will be quite recogniseable through the mask/prosphetics then thats where I figured I'd start, by basing the pencils more on a reference photo of him than on how I'd normally draw Bens face.
Also, this is only pencils. Once I get on with the inking/coloring I can hopefully make any adjustments needed to make him look a little less human, but still have Chiklis seen in there then.

aaaah.... i'm with you. good plan :) always good to raise this stuf though, in case its things you hadnt thought of :D

so how's everything else mate, haven't spoken in quite some time. anything else in the pipeline art-wise? i remember all the requests :D

I'm doing fine thanks, how are you? (feel free to PM me if you like):)

Anyway, I figured I'd ink this one anyway whichever way I go to color it:

FF-INKS1.jpg

Not too happy with the how the faces look at this size (look better on the big original) But should able to sort that with the coloring.
(also, you'll note I didnt ink the Force field around Sue's hand, that'll be done in PS)

Very, very good work, wobbly. You'll have a good shot at winning, IMO.

Great art reminds me of the guy thats doing Xfactor, Great Stuff:)

Nice work, I really like the inked version, Sue loooks short but I guess Jessica Alba is a kinda short too.

if you dnt mind askin, what kind of utinsel did you use to ink your artwork, cause im doing mine and i want to make it look good like your turned out :)

Usually whatever pens I can find that are still working:) .

For this one it was a mix of 'Pilot' permanent ink fine-liners, from 0.2 for the very fine stuff, 0.8 for much of the rest (like the cracks in Bens hide and so on) up to a broader black marker with a chisel tip for the solid fills and thicker outlines. Also used a standard ink 'Paper mate' medium felt tip as well as it has a bit of a flexible tip making it a little easier to vary the line width, but I wouldn't recommend using one normally as one drop of water and that'll bleed all over the place.:)

Here's a test run at the coloring for the Thing only atm:

ThingOnlyTest2.jpg

Decided to go for a 'paint' job on this and this test run is a bit of mix of painting over the inks and using the inks as well (too many cracks to try and paint with a mouse when you don't have to).
I think it looks ok but I'll see how the other characters look once I've painted them over before seeing if I keep this as is
