Wolverine filming update/news.

Thanks for the updates narrows, sokotoa and Thomas..
Hair, hair, hair :p
The age old X-men boards debate. Gotta love it.:marv:
I still remember Variety reporting that Hugh had a cameo as Clark Kent's father in Superman Returns...
If i'm not mistaken Jonathan Kent wasn't even in the script. Which makes the Variety article even more ridculous.:o
I wonder if it was every *really* supposed to happen - my recollection is Bryan Singer was seen having dinner with Hugh and Deb in Sydney and the rumor took off.
They were having dinner with Singer (there's a pic of it somewhere in the SR boards) and there was an unconfirmed rumor that Jackman was seen visiting the set.
Shawn Ashmore as Jimmy Olson, too.
Ashmore was actually approached to played Jimmy Olsen but turned it down due to 'timing'. More than likely he didn't want to piss off Fox and suffer the same fate as James Marsden.:o

Funnily enough Shawn's twin brother Aaron is now playing Jimmy Olsen on the tv show Smallville.

Somebody over at IMDB that claims to live in Dunedin, has confirmed that Michael C. Hall is in town.

I'm buying it and taking this as the final piece of evidence that Hall is playing Stryker.

Now we just gotta find out who Robert Knepper, Christian Clark and Brendan Cowell are playing.

Also, I found out that Aaron Jeffery who had been rumored to be playing Dog Logan, just wrapped the Australian film Beautiful with Jackman's wife Deborra Lee-Furness. This could be a puzzle piece as to his rumored involvement with the film being real.

^^^Brendan Cowell and Aaron Jeffery auditioned but there's been nothing as of yet to indicate they've actually gotten parts.

Christian Clark is the only one who's confirmed it.

Singer wanted Shawn to be Jimmy Olsen, Jackman to be Pa Kent in a flashback scene and Famke to be the shuttle PR woman on board the aircraft.
As he knew full well that they'd be in any X3, it had obviously descended into a point-scoring game with Fox. Marsden accepted Singer's offer and he's pretty good in SR, but it didn't bode well for Cyclops' role in X3. Thanks James!

I kinda hope Clark plays James Hudson. I wanted him for Stryker, but if Michael C. Hall is playing him, then I'm 100% fine with that

Robert Knepper would be a cool Agent Zero or Deadpool (if the character makes it into the film).

Paramount just moved the new Star Trek movie from December to May 8, 2009, a week after Wolverine.

Strange move from Paramount since (i think) most Trek movies have had winter releases. It would have done better in that period in my opnion.

The Jackman and Famke rumors are sketchy.I don't remember it ever being confirmed by anyone involved in the movie Famke just happened to be in town promoting a movie i think when she was paid a visit to Singer.

I realy like this look, but the claws seems a little bit long....it may just be the angle though.

Other than that he looks great. He looks natural, buffed out, and the hair looks alot better.....less forced ya know. His hair actualy looks like it could look like that naturaly and not that Wolverine spends 3 hours on a crapy hairdo each morning like in the begining of X2 and X3.

'Star Trek' pushed back to 2009

Paramount shuffles major releases

By PAMELA MCCLINTOCK

Paramount is pushing back the release of J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" from Dec. 25 to May 8, 2009, saying the pic's gross potential is greater as a summer tentpole.

Move was part of a major reshuffling to the studio's release calendar, as well as to DreamWorks' release sked. A second key change: DreamWorks' 2008 Ben Stiller summer comedy "Tropic Thunder" is moving from July 11 to Aug. 15.

That's likely to mean that another film will take "Tropic's" old spot on July 11, particularly since there is such a dearth of broad comedies in the May-July stretch.

Like Par, many of the majors are likely to revisit their release skeds in the wake of the writers' strike as they try to balance out their 2008 and 2009 calendars.

"Star Trek" has no competition in its new slot -- at least not so far, although it opens one week after 20th Century Fox bows "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and one week before Sony is slated to bow sequel "Angels and Demons."

Paramount also dated two titles. Martin Scorsese's Leonardo DiCaprio-starrer "Shutter Island" will be released Oct. 2, 2009.

An untitled comedy produced by Marlon and Shawn Wayans will be released on Feb. 9, 2009. Their brother Damon Wayans is directing from a script the three co-wrote with two other family members. Par is keeping the logline under wraps.

Here are the other release changes to Par's sked:
  • Eddie Murphy family pic "Nowhereland" is moving from Sept. 26, 2008, to June 12, 2009.
  • Renee Zellweger horror-thriller "Case 39" is moving from Aug. 22, 2008, to April 10, 2009.
  • David Fincher's Brad Pitt starrer "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" is moving from Nov. 26, 2008, to Dec. 19, 2008.
In addition to the new date for "Tropic Thunder," DreamWorks and Par announced that Leonardo DiCaprio-Kate Winslet "Revolutionary Road" will be distributed by Par Vantage, and not the studio proper.

It did? I didn't know that.

IMDB confirms the hairstyling award. In total, X1 won 11 movie awards, while X2 and X3 got four awards each.

The Jackman and Famke rumors are sketchy.I don't remember it ever being confirmed by anyone involved in the movie Famke just happened to be in town promoting a movie i think when she was paid a visit to Singer.

You go ahead and believe she just happened to be on the other side of the world and Singer just happened to bump into her. :cwink:

I've very good reason to believe Singer wanted Shawn, Famke and Jackman. Partly because he had worked with them already, partly because things had got nasty between him and Fox.

Regarding the news of Paramount's release date shuffle, I'm not sure I like the idea of Star Trek opening a week after Wolverine. Star Trek is a much wider draw that will get loads of media coverage.

Thanks.

May '09 is already shaping up to be as competitive as '07s when Spider-Man, Shrek and Pirates of the Carribean sequels were released back to back.

Not saying that it wasn't the case but there's not enough cold hard facts to back it up. :yay:

Does anyone have a clue who the guy behind Naomi Watts is? The one Hugh is hugging looks familar. Maybe he's an unannounced cast member?

Perhaps he's teenage Logan? BTW, Liev isn't looking too buff.

The guy behind Naomi in the blue shirt is Hugh's personal trainer/friend Michael Ryan. He was also on the jetboat ride. Too bad we can't see the face of the guy Hugh is hugging since I may be able to tell who it is.

I was thinking teenage Logan too but for all we know it could be one of the production staff.:woot:

EXCLUSIVE: Wolverine Will Encounter “The Blob”

Posted on February 15, 2008

by Neil Miller

In an interview released the other day with USA Today, Hugh Jackman let on that the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie that is currently in production will feature “a good bit of cameos of new and familiar mutants.”

As well, back in August Beyond Hollywood referrenced an interview on Wizard Magazine’s website (that can no longer be located on Wizard’s site) where sources mentioned “scenes featuring Wolverine in Vietnam, a pre-X-Men love interest for the furry mutant and character names familiar to comic fans such as the teleporter John Wraith, who served with Wolverine on special ops missions as part of Team X, along with Fred J. Dukes (aka the Blob).”

Today, I received an email from a very reliable source inside the production that confirmed that not only will The Blob appear in the movie, but that test footage has already been shot with an actor in a rubber suit. As our source explains, the suit makes him look like he is 800 lbs., but the producers of the film wanted to make him even bigger, something like 1200 lbs. The key thing to note here is not only that The Blob will appear in the movie, but that it will be an actor in a suit rather than CGI. Of course the fact that this is test footage being shot means it isn’t final, but this confirms that some Blob-ness will be in the movie in some form or another.

The 1200 lbs. thing also had be curious, so I consulted the Marvel Universe website for more. According to Marvel Universe’s listing, Fred J. Dukes (a.k.a The Blob) stands 5′10″ and originally weighted 510 lbs. This makes me wonder about the size. Marvel describes The Blob’s powers as follows:

“The Blob could create a mono-directional gravity field extending five feet from his center of balance, rendering himself virtually immovable as long as he was in contact with the ground. His body formerly had superhuman strength and durability; the fat tissues could absorb the impact of bullets, cannonballs, and even missiles. Unable to feel pain, the Blob’s skin could not be punctured, lacerated, frostbitten, or ravaged by disease due to its great elasticity and highly accelerated cell replacement rate. His eyes, ears, nose and mouth were not as resistant to injury, nor was he as resistant to fire or heat. The Blob’s size and strength have been temporarily increased to various levels over the years.”

From where I am sitting this is a very interesting character, but I am a little weary about him being 1200 lbs. Does that even make sense? I need some X-Men/Marvel fanatics to weigh in on this topic.

From Joblo.com:
Feb. 15, 2008
Now that filming is finally underway, expect more from the set including more casting and confirmation on which mutants will make an appearance (The Blob was in an earlier draft but I heard he's been given the heave-ho). Gavin Hood (RENDITION) is directing WOLVERINE based on a script by David Benioff. X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE is set for release on May 1, 2009.

So who are we supposed to believe?

The young guy in the pic is Steven Strait (10,000 B.C.) and the girl holding the bag is his girlfriend Lynn Collins aka The Silver Fox.

wow news is breaking out everywhere, id much rather have deadpool or maverick rather than the blob

I'm okay with the changes to the Blob. I just can't see what he has to do with a Wolverine story.
