Wolf at the door … Hugh Jackman could bring Aaron Jeffrey on board Wolverine.

PRIVATE SYDNEY
In Hollywood, major movie deals are done over lunch at The Ivy between bottles of Dom Perignon. In Aussiewood they are done on Bondi Beach over a bottle of Reef Oil and screeching kids.
Hugh Jackman has been quietly casting roles for the $100 million plus sci-fi blockbuster Wolverine, a spin-off from the X Men franchise to be filmed in Sydney and New Zealand, between trips to the beach with his children Oscar and Ava. Jackman and Seed Productions, the company he runs with his wife, Deborra-lee Furness, are associate producers of the film with 20th Century Fox.
In recent weeks Jackman has been spotted approaching would-be stars and offering them the chance to audition for roles in the flick, which is said to be a prequel that delves deep into the early years of Jackman's hirsute Wolverine character who, by all accounts, is the sexiest mutant on the big screen.
One such opportunity has gone to the former McCleod's Daughters "hunk" Aaron Jeffrey, who has already gone through one screen test to play Jackman's brother in the film. Jackman and Jeffrey - similarly tall, dark and handsome - have had regular catch-ups on Bondi, where Jeffrey is regularly spotted with his girlfriend, another actor with considerable success in Hollywood, Peta Wilson.
The official word from Seed Productions is that not all the casting has been finalised and the company declined to shed any light on Jeffrey's situation specifically. However, if he lands the role, it could propel his career into the Hollywood major league.
Meanwhile Jackman has been busy getting even more buff for the role, employing his great mate Michael Ryan as his personal trainer.
Earlier in the year PS reported that Jackman was best man at Ryan's wedding on the Gold Coast and the pair were spotted recently at a training session in Kings Cross gym.
Filming is expected to last between three and four months. The Wolverine director Gavin Hood and his crew have been spotted in New Zealand doing some location scouting with cinematographer Donald McAlpine (Moulin Rouge!, Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe) already on board.

Hes going to play "Jackmans brother"? Do they mean John Howlett? If so then thats a little weird...

My sis is a major McCleod's Daughters fanatic and likewise of the X-Men films.I think it's safe to say that she'll be ecstatic if this pans out.:woot:

gotta say the brother thing's a bit weird... I love origin but I'm not sure how it would pan out if adapted to the big screen...

Origin was an amazing series but was John Howlett ever actually shown on a panel?

It seems more likely now come to think of it that he'd play Dog Logan who was more than hinted to be our Logans half brother....

...I hope they dont go down the route of Dog Logan being Sabretooth

Narrows, you just posted the same article again

Ok, be gentle with me - I'm in an airport where my flight is delayed for four hours and hubby and I are fighting over the laptop LOL so I can't do my normal checking of things and I didn't see the previous posting!

I wonder if Hugh is starting to think he really is Wolverine. LOL Is this the first time one actor has played the same Superhero 4 times? Oh wait Reeves did Superman 4 times. I forgot about Quest for Peace...that probably shouldn't count. LOL

Well, I certainly hope you tivo'd Viva Laughlin while you were away!

(I haven't watched it yet either, I was at a Springsteen concert last night...most incredible freakin' night of my life :woot:  )

Get home safe! :yay:

Sweet. Dog's going to be in the movie. :woot:

Is Dog... or are we assuming too much... I mean in the script reviews... it seemed like a good deal from Wolvie's origin had changed... the brother, etc. could all be potrayed very differently...

God I keep seeing Elektra flashbacks.... get out of my head!

Origin was complete crap and would do nothing but muddy a Wolverine movie.

Maybe...

Yeah but ignoring Origin is like ignoring Weapon X. No matter how much you hate the story, it has become pretty much integral to the character. There's a reason it got it's on ongoing series. I'd say Origin and everything from it are here to stay. Hell, he was even called James by Stryker in X2.

Well my flight was CANCELLED at 8:00 last night after we were delayed four hours and then actually got on the plane and then 15 mins. later they made us get off since we were going to be delayed again and then 1/2 hr. later they cancelled us! Thank goodness we got a hotel room - but they put us on a 6 a.m. flight this morning when meant I had to get up at 3:30 and I am EXHAUSTED! And yes I did see VIVA LAUGHLIN while I was on vacation since we were back in the room at 10:00 (even though I recorded it) - I watched alone since hubby was fast asleep!

Back to topic - here's a picture of Hugh and Aaron Jeffrey on Bondi Beach a few months ago - wonder if WOLVERINE came up LOL.

No, Stryker called him only Wolverine in X2.
Just like Magneto. They both refused to call him Logan, and the name James was never mentioned...

I'm positive that I heard James in there. Not sure if it was by Strker or not but at least once he was refered to as James. But hey, it's been a while since I watched the movie (or any X-movie for that matter). What I remember was some use of the name James in one of the three movies but X2 and Stryker made the most sense so I just said that.

Alright. You guys are the experts. Maybe I'm mistaken.

Maybe it was the use of "Jason", Stryker's son, not "James"...

See, now I just have to watch this movie again later. :woot:

Now whenever I read about Hugh speaking or lunching with someone I wonder if it's for a part in the movie!

WOLVERINE and The Rock is one muscle mix not to be messed with.

While Hugh Jackman is gearing up for his fourth foray on the big screen as X-Men's bulky Wolverine, he's been getting training tips from none other than former US wrestler-turned-movie star Dwayne "The Rock'' Johnson.

In Sydney to spruik his latest film The Game Plan, fitness fanatic Johnson flew into Australia early on Sunday to relax in the company of some of his Australian Hollywood friends, reports film writer Erin McWhirter.

Johnson, 35, who last visited Australia three years ago, soaked up the local sun with an intimate lunch with the couple at Rose Bay restaurant Catalina.

"I had lunch with Hugh Jackman and his wife, which was great. I knew them from the States and when Hugh was flying back from LA he rang saying we should catch up, so we did.''

will The Rock be in this movie? oooh.. that would be interesting..
