Ok so apparently I just read that the Wolverine Origins movie is in the works and it will be based in Japan.

1. Im sure Fox will have their hands all over this movie
2. Will it be Rated R like the first one should have been?

Let the descussions begin!

What should and should not been done to save one of my favorite comic book/cartoon characters as a kid in the new movie.

Well Hugh Jackman has always talked about how much he loves the Wolverine Japan story arc, so this one might be faithful to the comics. :D I'm going to be optimistic for this movie and give it a fair shot, I thought Origins was okay, but not enough story, the pacing was bad, and what they did to Deadpool wasn't fair.

I highly doubt it will be Rated R. It doesn't necessarily need to be. It can be violent enough in a PG-13 movie. Plus all the X-Men movies have been. and Jackman has stated he wants his kids to be able to watch it, or something around those lines. PG-13=More money. But he does need to stab some people, give him atleast one scene where he goes into full rage on a bunch of people/guards/whatever. He also needs more of the attitude he had in X-1. I think it'd be cool if he could wear the outfit, but I doubt it's going to happen. I can't really see yellow and blue tights blending into a film too well. Maybe if he could wear his black suit, but I doubt they'd do that.

If this one doesn't do justice for Wolverine, then I think they'll most likely call it quits. Or they'll make one more to just make a trilogy. Just all depends.

All in all, I just hope it's an enjoyable film with great action and a great plot. Maybe they'll succeed with this one. :D

please......no more Jackman Wolverine!!

This would be his....what.....5th outing as Wolverine.......same old.....same old.......

I am tired of Jackman's and Fox's wimpy, watered-down, PG-13 Wolverine. ( Nothing against Jackman.....he should never have been cast in the role in the first place.....and Wolverine should not be PG-13 ).

I want a new Wolverine, a new X-men universe that is closer to the comics......

Im tired of Fox and X-men, just give it up already. Its dead!

as long as they feel that they can milk more money out of Wolverine.......they'll never give up!! :o

Well it sounds like it might shoot next summer if they are already righting about it.

I doubt that. Hugh's doing a play on Broadway this fall, and he's doing another film after that. There was some talk about another Broadway show late next year, but that might be on hold, but he's got a few other film projects going on and I'm guessing he may do one of those before a Wolverine sequel happens.

I'm fine with a sequel as long as it's longer and has a stronger story. I'm tired of Fox shortchanging this series.

I dont think Jackman was a bad Wolverine. Sure he was a little taller then I wanted but he fit the part. I feel if he had a bada$$ role as Wolverine full out R rated rage Wolverine he could be great. He had to work with what he got and I feel he did the best with what he had.

Id really like to hear more opinions on how they might go about doing the Tokyo movie, where the story will go, what characters would they introduce.

I know there a ton of bright people on these forums with a lot of information I cant seem to find so if you have any on the new Origins Movie or any Input to story, characters etc. Id love to see them!

keep the posts coming!

Can you say overkill? It will fail, hard. I got excited about the first one. I thought maybe Fox could still make a good X-men (related) movie. Now i know better. :down

After the last one was average and X3 was atrocious, I just cant get excited about this, not sure when they will release it anyway, but a huge improvement over the las 2 movies is needed to get me to see this.

I like Jackman as a person, but I'm sick of his Wolverine. I've read too many interviews where he's said "This movie shows the real Wolverine" and we get something like X3 or Origins. I don't need a R-rated movie, but I do want one that doesn't throw a boatload of mutants on the screen just to be cool and ignores reasoning and logic.

doesent HJ have mixed feelings about wolverine from X3?

i disagree. I cannot wait for origins 2.

Same here. I guess SOME whinny fanboys can't discern what makes a good action/adventure film if it involves a character they've read about for decades. Intelligent fanboys who can differentiate between the books and film universe enjoyed the movie quite a bit. Hugh Jackman is a great Wolverine and I can't wait to see more.

can anybody elaborate on wolverines japanese saga? i know nothing about it and i'm just interested what it will be about and what mutants might be in it

It's when Wolverine went to Japan & learned to be a samurai/ninja. I'd guess Silver Samurai, Lady Deathstrike (before she got her powers) & maybe Omega Red would appear. But Fox will probably cram others in.

Hopefully by the time this starts production, Marvel & Fox will have a deal like Marvel has with Universal (aka them having creative control). I have a feeling it'll happen when they see the successes of IM2, Thor, Cap & Avengers.

Jackman and producer Lauren Shuler Donner have been saying for years how much they love the Japan saga. I hope that shines through if the movie evntually gets made.

They'll need to get a director and writer who can handle action, drama, romance and all the pesky studio politics that go with a big budget movie at Fox.

First though, i'd like them to move ahead with First Class or Magneto before this.Something that doesn't involve Wolverine for once wouldn't hurt at all IMO.:o

It's something i'd like to see happen as well but you have to be realistic. The X-Men franchise is still a cash cow for Fox and i really doubt they'd agree to a set up like that.

It's a little of a weird set up now because recently it's been revealed that Marvel (not Fox) has rights to characters such as Cable and Scarlet Witch.

I have to say the people at Fox are going to start seeing how epic Marvel is going to become with their release of Thor, Cap and eventually the Avengers.

I want to start a mini thread inside this one. Do you all think with the Avengers movie coming they can make Civil War down the line or a World War Hulk? I feel it would be all based on how they do the Avengers. If they have the Hulk as some uncontrollable force that they aim at enemies instead showing his instablility and the concern of Tony Stark and SHIELD.

Then again they can introduce Captain Americas views on how he feels working for SHIELD and being a known Super Hero instead of staying hidden under the mask.

I dont know do you think they could hint at either maybe at the end of the movie or a little throughout? Im just very curious about the Avengers and how many ways they can take it.

Personally i think the Japanese Saga can't carry the whole film unless it has a great story and great villains. I mean how many villains were in the Japanese saga?

I will only watch this IF it has Omega Red in it and IF they cast someone actually good to play him. Otherwise, pass.

I hope Hugh is aware of all the criticism towards XMO and uses it to improve the new movie.

He was aware of the criticism for X3. He just doesn't get the character it seems and with Fox behind these movies, it just isn't good for us.

Ditto!

It would be nice if they handed it from Fox to Marvel studios. Maybe it would make for a better movie that way.

If X-Men was given back to Marvel Studios, it sure would be a better franchise... a reBOOTed franchise...
well, FOX did a good job on XMOW for me... it didnt reach the level of Bryan Singer's X-men but at least it was better than X3 and at least it has Gambit in it =]

i really think they need to stop with the prequels, they're dragging it out, i rather see a reboot or a x-men sequel, so many stories still out there
