Not the end-all, be-all

But if it was a decision between Marvel and Fox, I'd choose Marvel

I think Marvel is definitely off to a good start, but getting Justin Theroux to pen Iron Man II was a bad move in my eyes.

they sold me when they gave Norton creative control on TIH, but lost me when they didn't give him a sequel before The Avengers movie.

Mickey Rourke in Iron Man 2 = Good.

Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury = Bad.

ok firstly im not an expert on wolverine's history, which in someways is probably a good thing but there are several aspects i think could follow on... I mean wolverine is a very complex character with many levels. I would say you could possibly straight Wolverine franchise as a trilogy detailing several Wolverine storylines...

So this is what it would do for a story... Guessing that by the end of this movie, wolverine's memory has been erased, and Sabretooth is left unknown what happend to him.

Act 1: Wolverine is fished out of an icey lake in Northern Alaska by some eskimos and is taken to there local village, Wolverine awakes with no memory of what has happend to him and decides to work in the village whilst he tries to regain his memory... However the village comes under threat by a drugs cartel who are transporting goods through the antartic to avoid detection. Leading this transfer is Silas Burr a former weapon x employee who used to work as a mutant tracker for stryker however when the facility was destroyed Silas became a enforcer for hire. When he discovers wolverines presence he believes that Stryker had sent him to bring him back. So Silas and his crew attack wolverine and destroy the village... after relising wolverine has no memory Silas retreats back to the ship heading to madipoor, after seeing the damage that has happend because of him wolverine leaves to track down Silas, knowing the ship was heading to madipoor he manages to catch up with the vessel and stows away on board. He learns that Silas is working for Kenuichio Harada - once business partner to William Stryker, now Business revivals, Harada tecnology designed the plastic technology which Stryker used to develope a device to hold Magneto. We find out that the drug Silas is transporting is actually a mutant power enhancer, which Harada is planning to use to create the ultimate soldier, - Since Stryker and Harada parted ways, knowing that Stryker was working on the ultimate soldier, Harada decided to create his own Weapon X... Wolverine confronts Silas who lets slip that Harada technology was used to wipe his memory, However Silas realises that wolverine still hasnt realised who he is so they ends up in a fight leading to wolverine managing to cause the boat to sink, Silas desperatly tries to save some of the mutant power enhancers but ends up injecting them into himself just before he sinks with the ship... Wolverine manages to escape via a lifeboat.

Act 2: It is days later, Wolverine ends up in Madipoor where Kenuichio Harada was planning to meet Silas at the drop off point. However learning that his ship did not make port because of Wolverine, Harada sends his best samuri ninja's to capture him...Harada knows who Wolverine is, and plans to warp his mind into becoming his own Weapon X, however Wolverine evades capture by the help of a detective Shiro Yoshida, who has been investigating Harada Industry, Shiro was at the port waiting for the ship to come in, Shiro is also a mutant to which he uses his powers to help him and wolverine escape. Whilst in hiding Shiro explains that his father used to work for Harada Industries but went missing, Shiro became a detective so that one day he can discover what happend to his father. He learns that Harada Industires had dealings with a group called Hydra where he managed to find information about the transport of this drug, Shiro is contacted by his sister who works as a office employee at Yashida Corporation, which is connected to the Harada Industry. she learns that Yashida has been funding a small training camp in Japan which was being converted into a Research Facility for Harada Industry. However Shiro's sister is discovered and is captured by Harada... knowing that wolverine is with her brother, he takes her to the training facility which leads to wolverine and shiro following.

Act 3: In Japan, they manage to break into the facility but we discover that Silas is still alive and is now super-powered now calling himself Cyber. They fight leading to wolverines capture, and Shiro imprisioned with his sister. Harada appears and tortures wolverine, however he plans to make wolverine his own ultimate weapon x, so He pits him and Cyber against each other with hunders of ninja soldiers fighting them both. The Mutant Performance Enhancher has made Cyber a controlable drone who seems to be using wolverine like a baseball bat to fight off ninja guards. Wolverine manages to change the tables causing the places to fall apart, Cyber gets trapped by the building which is falling apart, Wolverine manages to free Shiro and his sister who he tells to leave, but shiro after learning that Harada killed his father wont leave until he takes him down. Suddenly Harada appears from the reckage in Silver Samuri armour, Shiro goes to fight him but is knocked unconcious, then we have a fight between Silver Samuri and Wolverine which leads to wolverine knocking Harada unconcious, he leaves him to Shiro to take into the police. When asked where he is going to say hello to Hydra... leading on to a possible third movie were Wolverine would face Viper, Omega Red, before ending up back to canada to being approached by Department H and declining there offer.

Well as you can tell im not a hundred percent knowledgable about Wolverines past but i think this would make a good story.

I really think its time they focus on other characters besides Wolverine. But if they do make the Japan story I will be there.

I hope Wolverine is in future things but more as a supporting character. Four movies on Wolverine is enough. But I would rather see the Wolverine Japan story then Magneto and First Class.

X-4,Deadpool should be the priorities.

It really depends on how the movie plays out. And no, I'm not talking about box office and DVD sales.

I'm talking about how they set up any potential story arcs. I don't want to see Wolverine sequels just for the sake of seeing Wolverine sequels. Given how X-Men Origins: Wolverine is supposed to lead straight into the cage fight scene in X-Men, I don't exactly know how the Japan story would fit in between that time frame. However, it still is about 15 years, and surely if it's set up properly, it could work.

However, I really don't want to see another Wolverine sequel unless they make a X-Men: First Class series of films. Reason being, I want to see the X-Men actually exist without Wolverine.

I am not one of those that feels the main X-Men trilogy was Wolverine 1-3. I actually feel that the trilogy was just as much about Jean Grey's transformation into the Phoenix, Magneto's war, Xavier's dream, and Rogue's struggle with her powers as it is about Wolverine. I do think that they were good X-Men movies.

But the fact remains, the story doesn't pick up until they encounter Wolverine. And now with Wolverine's origin story being told, the X-Men series really does begin to feel like Wolverine, and the X-Men portion is just another part of his life.

I don't want the Magneto film. It serves absolutely no purpose. We already know about his motives.

But First Class would actually be appealing. With X-Men, we know that the team has had encounters before Wolverine comes along. Now we could get a chance to tell those tales. It would also be a great way to showcase some of the team members that may not have gotten the glory they deserves (mainly, Cyclops), and still be able to bring in new characters that fans want to see. Also, given the time frame of the movie, it could also serve the purpose of the Magneto film by showcasing the fallout between Xavier and Magneto. It's obvious, through the movies (mainly X-Men: The Last Stand) that Magneto and Xavier were still in co-existence during the early stages of the school (they are both there to recruit Xavier's first student, Jean Grey).

I just like that idea a LOT more than Magneto.

If the movie is a success, than of course it should have sequels... but it shouldn't be X-Men Origins: WOLVERINE... And I highly HIGHLY doubt that there will be a sequel called Wolverine 2. This here movie is Wolverines movie. The next one will be X-Men Origins: CYCLOPS! or some other characters background story we will be told. In those films I'm sure that Wolverine will have a story too on the sidelines, but he will still take a backseat in those films, just as much as I'm sure all other characters will take a backseat in this here upcoming movie.

you do know who plays Wolverine, right?

Hugh Jackman isn't just going to retire and make a living as a farmer.

Just because people wanna see more of other characters doesn't mean its in the studio's best interest.

Jackman will do another Wolverine, because the studio will see the profit in it.

*There will probably never be an X-Men movie that doesn't feature Jackman in some shape or form.

im certain ther will be a wolverine sequel, folk will go see this movie thats for sure, and i believe reviews will be mixed at best

didnt i hear somewhere that this movie finishes on a cliff hanger? which could lead on to the japan story.

i think X-MEN 4 is a no go, and will always be a no go, so anything new will be in form of a prequel, so i very much doubt a sequel to this movie will ever be just "WOLVERINE"

yea, I honestly have little to no hope that they will ever cough up the money to reunite the gang and deliver a $300 Million Apocalypse movie.

that makes me sad :csad:

no Cable, no Ben Foster with blue skin, no Anna Paquin relapsing and flying, no Xavier walking...

Yes!

Of course, a story with Japan and Mariko would be cool. But I'd die happy if Hugh donned the Patch and had a romp through Madripoor as well.

I doubt that there will be a X4. X3 gave each character a ending, and I think a X-men movie without Professor X, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Rogue, Mistique and Magneto just would't be the same. But it would be interesting to see a X-men: First Class with Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Beast, Emma Frost and Banshee.

How about a post apocalyptic future type of movie? They could cover the whole Sentinels/mutants future. Throw in some cable and bishop. Maybe a Sinister/Cyclops/Jean scenario. Mastermold killing off a lot of x-men. :)

Better not. Too complicated.

Curiously, one of Bryan Singer's ideas for X3, when he was still on board, was a movie version of "Days of a Future Past", with Wolverine as the time traveller instead of Kitty Pryde.

Jackman has expressed alot of interest in doing the Days of Future Past movie.

he was saying it'd be great to do an entire film that takes place in the danger room scenario from X3.

He also said it would take place at least a hundred years after the trilogy because all the X-Men have died and he loved the idea of Wolverine outliving them all.

this is why I like Jackman alot. He likes to embrace the tortured/antihero aspects of Wolverine.

singer should of stayed on for the franchise, he would of had alot more control as to wat ideas came out of the franchise :(

"superman returns"

oh god :whatever:

Superman Returns is a good movie, but i think Warner gave him too much control over the movie, and he ended up making a unofficial remake of Superman: The movie.

But the action scenes we're cool. :woot:

Its not an unofficial remake of the first film, its a PROFESSED follow up to Richard Donner's cut of Superman II.

hence the ridiculous reality of it all.

I dont know what that guy was thinking, but Jackman in several interviews talked about how Singer's direction would consist primarily of examples from the Donner Superman movies - to which Jackman would just laugh at :yay:

"Remember in Superman II when Clark...."

Oh God :whatever:

He's a fan, what are we going to do?

Remember when it was said the Jackman would be in the movie as Jonathan Kent? :hehe:

I think it would be borderline *********ory to give Wolverine another spin-off. He only needs one... Just like any other character in X-men who gets a spin-off.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

:hehe:

:woot:

I remember the first news i read about the movie was about this "confirmed" casting call:

Superman/Clark Kent - Brandon Routh.
Lois Lane - Kate Bosworth.
Jimmy Olsen - Shaw Ashmore.
Perry White - Hugh Laurie.
Martha Kent - Eve Marie Saint.
Jonathan Kent - Hugh Jackman.
Steve Lombard - Barry Pepper.
Cat Grant - Peta Wilson.
John Corben - Kevin Bacon.
Lex Luthor - Kevin Spacey.
General Zod - Jude Law.
Lara - Famke Jensen.
Jor-El - Gabriel Byrne.

Shame it wasn't true. :csad:

you speak as if any of the other mutants are the shadow of Hugh Jackman.

this isn't just a "Wolverine spinoff".

Its this year's Hugh Jackman vehicle :cwink:
