Wolverine Set for May 1, 2009

IMDB are often wrong, i doubt the rest of the press reporting this are.

It's weird to say this, but please no Gambit :( :(

God, they spent three movies without him and now want to introduce the character in a f**king Wolverine movie????? I can wait some years to see him on the silver screen.

...even though there will apparently be filming done in New Orleans, that doesn't necessarily mean that any of the action will "take place" in New Orleans.. so notions of Gambit are premature speculation at this point.. espcially considering that if they're going by any credible timeline, to introduce the character there would mean he'd have to be much older by "current" X-movie continuity-- so, unless they introduced him as a new, mutant teenager (with an appropriately young actor), I doubt they'd do it at all...

let's hope so.

They're often wrong with info on upcoming movies . Not with confirmed reports and with movies that have already come out. You should know this hunter ;)

Warner Bros. has moved the release date for "Speed Racer" forward two weeks to May 9, 2008, and will release the pic day-and-date in most international markets.

NarniaFans Spy Daniel has sent us word that Prince Caspian indeed has a release date set. This is huge news that hasn't made the major entertainment press.

Walt Disney Pictures has set the release date. Prince Caspian will be releasing on May 16, 2008.

Paramount Pictures has set Thursday, May 22, 2008 as the release for the fourth "Indiana Jones" movie, which the studio is now officially referring to as the Fourth Installment of the Indiana Jones Adventures.

Oh and i forgot to add this
http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2007/09/12/sex-and-the-city-movie-sets-a-release-date/
We’ve just been informed that New Line has laid claim to a release date for its soon to be filmed “Sex and the City” movie. Got your datebook out? Alright, May 30, 2008 is the date

I am overtly excited this sucker will beging shooting soon and am even more happier they aren't trying to push this out as quick as they can. Maybe Fox is learning from their mistakes with this franchise.

Wolverine is an up coming movie and they are wrong about the date, the stuffposted was confirmed on all the major sites, they have gotten Wolverine wrong.

I like the fact they're calling the movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I'm presuming they're gonna do the same with Magneto. I wonder will they do more origin movies with other characters - I think one on Nightcrawler could work well too and I'd like to see one on Storm also.

What will Gambit's role in the movie be exactly? If its minor i wont mind, but if it is a lengthy one, i honestly dont see the point!

Sweet!! I am so happy i am kinda bummed because i was hoping for a Christmas 08 but i don't mind waiting and Liev Schreiber for Stryker is perfect!!! I am so excited!!

There was another site a while ago who reported that the latest draft included one of his favorite mutants. I assumed it was Gambit then, and now we get this.
I thought they were talking about Deadpool or Omega Red actually.

Like i said earlier in the thread....AICN claims that the scenes they're filming in New Orleans are for something else. Not for Gambit.

I will say, that if Gambit is in it, I think it will be amazing.

Are you guys who are bummed about the idea Gambit fans? What do the Gambit fans think?

Some of my favorite images of Gambit are him and Wolverine teaming up together in the Wolverine book.

I think it'd be a perfect introduction of Gambit to the franchise, as someone that Wolverine knows, they already have history.

I, personally, am absolutely excited if this happens.

Gambit is my favorite X-Men character, but I rather see him in a X-Men film. Maybe they can have a scene where Remy (age 10) steals Logan's wallet. Logan spots him, grabs him, and tells him stealing is wrong, especially for a kid. Remy puts a playing card in Logan's wallet and it explodes. Remy gets away. Logan mumbles, "I'll see you around, kid." Y'know, just a cameo part.

I'm glad they're not rushing this film. A Wolverine movie has a lot of potential to be a great film. Great news!

GREAT news! I am so happy that Fox is not going to push or rush this out, May 1, 2009 is perfect. It gives lot's of time to work on the film, get the story right, the action right, this is just great, and Liev Schreiber as a young Striker is awesome casting, I would have liked Brian Cox back but as this is the telling of how and who Wolverine is, it would not have worked because of his age.

Liev is a really good friend of Hugh - they both starred in KATE & LEOPOLD and Hugh was the host of the Tony Awards and was on stage with Billy Crystal when Billy announced Liev's name as winner for Best Supporting Actor in a Play for Glengarry Glen Ross in 2005. You could tell Hugh was so excited when Liev won - I can't wait to see them working together again. I bet Hugh had a big role in his possible casting.

He was also at the premiere of The Fountain.

This is great news! I was a little surprised about the 2009 date, but that's good. No rushing!

I was watching a behind-the-scenes special on Hugh's new show Viva Laughlin, and he looked dead-tired, so I'm glad this means he won't be on some crazy deadline going from straight from Australia/Viva Laughlin into Wolverine.

I also like this whole Origins idea, it looks like they really want to keep the X-Men franchise alive with more projects to come, rather than the lackluster ending we got with X3. It's a good direction they're taking it in.

Maybe they've changed the script, and New Orleans has replaced Las Vegas? I wouldn't mind that at all.

The date is perfect...Good to know that it won't be rushed in any way. I would've liked Cox to return, but Schreiber as a young Stryker would be great casting.

Ahem
Got all the release dates from IMDB :

May 1st WOlverine ( Fox)
May 2nd Iron Man ( Paramount)
May 9th Speed Racer ( WB)
May 16th Prince Caspian ( Disney)
May 22th Indiana Jones ( Paramount)

Seems studios never learn

Except WOLVERINE is a 2009 release now. Far removed from those 2008 releases.

stupid title though... i hope its changed

I think it's likely a marketing move similar to how X2 had the subtitle of X-MEN UNITED even though officially on the film it was referred to as merely X2. FOX likely just wants to get the term "X-Men" in there and this is their way to do it.

Here's two pictures of Hugh and Liev from KATE & LEOPOLD:
