Wonder Woman 1984 General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

"It's not a sequel...you're going to learn what WW has been doing in the intervening years.." Patty, that is a sequel!

It became a direct sequel the moment they brought back Steve Trevor. You have to watch the first movie In order to understand the importance of Steve Trevor to Diana. Also, who cares if people call it a sequel?

I saw endgame yesterday,
Did any of you reminded of history lesson's (in snyder's trailer version) when avengers fought thanos at that evening scene?

I kept imagining that whats JL should be like. All dc heroes vs darkseid with trinity at front.

Yes I thought of the history lesson. But also what could've been. How it was all badly handled and screwed up. Disappointing that JL and DC fans ended up with that. The history lesson in JL should've been something epic for DC fans but it was like footnote that didn't come to anything great. But that's all done now.

What I think they're going for with the DCEU moving forward is a soft reboot, without saying it ala Bumblebee and the Transformers franchise. It would explain how Steve Rogers is back. It seems like they want us to ignore movies like BvS, JL, Mos..and the first WW movie.

They want us to ignore Justice League by completely referencing it in Aquaman?

And remember that the cameo at the end of Shazam was written to be Cavill but he turned it down due to conflicts.

So did they decide to reboot it after a billion dollar film and one actor cant do a 3 second cameo? Seems like a stretch.

People in every DCEU thread push this "reboot" deal even in the face of all evidence to the contrary.

Yeah and most of SS cast is coming back for the new SS movie and there's even a Joker cameo in BoP, lmao.

But other than every aspect of the universe...totally a reboot ;)

It would be silly to ignore the first WW movie.

The only problem DCEU have is if they recast lead actors and how they will explain that, which they seem to be avoiding having to answer in the near future.

I do feel sorry for the actors who should have been part of an epic franchise, but ended up with something less. Granted I don't think it's nearly as bad as the critics say, but still. Gal has a good chance of becoming the definitive Wonder Woman, but she probably won't be part of a super franchise and will probably do 4-5 movies in the role and that's it. Henry should have been the definitive Superman imo.

To go on a mini personal rant (not aimed at you), I'm sick of almost every DC movie being unfavourably compared to Marvel, while the good ones like Wonder Woman and SHAZAM! are good because "it's like a Marvel movie". :whatever:

This basically plays into the whole time travel aspect with this being in 84

Yes. All my history lectures from school just flooded back to me. Indeed.

Wonder Woman 1984 is over a year away. It seems like forever, given when this started filming. What did they think they needed all the extra time and post production for that it couldn't come out this year?

While we all want to the see the movie as soon as possible, why is it that certain people still don't understand that June 2020 is a far better release date than November 2019?

What's wrong with Nov? I hope the action scenes are avengers level cuz she's so powerful I can picture a scene of her running on the battlefield throwing tanks & army trucks. Cheetah hopping from one tank to another clawing the top to toss out soldiers,. Diana & her fighting while dodging missiles, bullets bouncing off her armor. Ugh 1984 hurry.

TBH, I can't blame her for being insulted by being asked to play that role. She's barely a decade older than Gal Gadot. Sure Hippolyta is immortal, but this seems to be more about the kind of parts women are offered when they are over 40. The mother or other side characters. 20s to early 30s seem to be the only age range they want in women leads even if the lead actor is at least 50.

If there's a third WW film, I think she'd make a good Circe though.

Honestly, being a year away and already having the rough cuts being screened to good feedback means WB can build hype for an entire year.

I think it's the best to stay out of Disney's A Side 2019 releases and have a chance to rule 2020 against Disney's B Side 2020.
