Wonder Woman Costume Suggestions

Yeah, that's the only reason why certain movies aren't made, there isn't a whole complicated process, please.

If people made films only catered to mainstream ideas then we'd never get great movies at all. We'd never have a spread of foreign films that helped spread new ideas about cinema.

One problem with adapting Wonder Woman's costume is that it's hard to know the target audience. So far I don't see anything family friendly with Nolan's Batman and Snyder's Superman. Green Lantern was a complete mess but it should have been suited for kids. But Wonder Woman is problem because she's also a sex symbol. Once they know who they're catering this film too they can decide how to dress her up.

Thems fightin' words around here.:oldrazz:

"Family friendly" does NOT mean "its for kids" that is a misconception. Family friendly means that its for the entire family (kids, parents, grandparents, etc). Snyder's Superman is family friendly.

I'm really disturbed by the insistence on "sexing" WW up. Perhaps the biggest flaw with women in comics is that the "costumes" and "armor" they wear only protects their breasts and vaginas... so they are pretty much super easy to kill.

Frankly, I'd rather Wonder Woman look like a warrior, not some 13-year-old's wet dream.

We already have a great female armor suit in Thor, both effective and good looking, why don't use it as an exapmle? Make a few tweaks here and there, use a battleskirt from Thor 2 (I tried but it doesn't look that good) make it look a bit more roman-ish and it will be ok.

Now this, people, is a warrior. She's protected from head-to-toe, she looks incredible, and it's practical. I like this concept the best.

I think an adaption of the Lynn Collins costume in John Carter would be fine and acceptable for WW.

Sure... if you don't mind that she has a glaring achilles heal in the form of her wide-open stomach... the most vulnerable spot for any warrior.

Found this on Tumblr. In my opinion, this would be a perfect look for a live-action interpretation of the character (minus the owl of course).

This one isn't bad, either...

I quite like this vision.

See? Personally, I think that's sexy. It's also practical, protective, and definitely battle gear for a warrior. Perfect.

It'd be really cool if someone made that up to look like a WW suit.

Couldn't stop laughing. Wonder Woman the butch lesbian. Yeah thats going to work. Hilarious.

To be fair, the people who drew those can't really draw. And yeah, I agree the WW suit looks pretty bad. But also remember that these are set up to be practical for battle. Long hair flowing in the wind is kind of a liability if you're in a major battle. It's a weak spot that can be exploited by your enemy. So you either pull your hair up in a bun or cut it short.

Makes sense.

I actually found a "historically accurate" WW suit here. It's modeled after the kind of battle armor a Scythia warrior might have worn.

Some tweeks I'd make: lose the mask. Wonder Woman never had a second identity. People knew who she was.

Also, despite the BDSM subtext, I don't actually mind the golden lasso.

Not sure how I feel about the red t-shirt, either. I think more an armor one-piece, like the suit in the Thor poster, would be better.

For the record, I'm not posting this to show the woman behind the costume, but the costume itself.

I don't want Wonder Woman to look like a wet dream. I want her to look like a frickin' warrior, and warriors don't go into battle wearing one-piece swimsuits (or physics-defying ribbons, for that matter... Starfire) that would protect nothing at all from damage. I want Wonder Woman to look intimidating. When her enemies look at her, I don't want them to be preoccupied with keeping their blood from rushing south. I want them to be terrified of what they see.

Make Wonder Woman look like a warrior and not a Playboy model, please...

Thank you.

"Family friendly" does NOT mean "its for kids" that is a misconception. Family friendly means that its for the entire family (kids, parents, grandparents, etc). Snyder's Superman is family friendly.

Indiana Jones and Star Wars are family friendly. Man of Steel is not.

How is Man of Steel not family friendly?

The controversial high number of casualties isn't something I'd let kids see even with their parents. Even Star Wars doesn't show the inhabitants of Alderaan die when the Death Star blew it up. Even Jurassic Park had less than five on screen deaths.

Star Wars also had onscreen dismemberment, Darth Vader breaking a guys neck complete with sound effects, Han being tortured complete with agonizing screams, heads getting cut off, Luke being tortured by Force Lightning, etc. We didn't see all of the deaths in MOS, and the ones we did see were split second shots.

I would *very* much argue with that. Not only would most kids be bored stiff by the pacing, no movie in which Superman is forced to break the villain's neck after destroying an entire city can really be called "family friendly."

I really don't, that looks pretty different from any WW suit I've ever seen. Is that Sif or something?

Agreed. If they went into production tomorrow with that costume, Emily Blunt, Lucy Lawless, and Daniel Craig starring, and Kathryn Bigolow directing I would nerdgasm so hard.

Dude you basically described the ideal movie. I think we may need a bigger star for Hippolyta, just because I think her supporting cast needs bigger names just like was done for BB and MOS, Lawless would be flawless though, she shoulda been WW 15 years ago

Just like the X-men suits looked like nothing anyone had ever seen, and with the exception of the 60's TV show, the live=action Batsuits have always been battle armor (and, for the record, I've always hated the 60's underwear jumpsuit).

Comic costumes don't always translate well to live-action film.

Again... I want Wonder Woman to look like a warrior, who is protected over her whole body, not just her breasts and vagina, from lethal blows, not a frickin' Playboy model who only has to be stabbed once in the stomach to die.

What is so hard about this to get?

What am I saying? I don't want the comic costume in a live-action film. IMO, it will fail... miserably...

Outside of a PORNO, of course...

Oh... and one other thing... there's a reason underwear is called UNDERWEAR. It's because you wear it UNDER other clothes. I think all superheros should stick to that...

What I guess I don't understand is why Wonder Woman absolutely has to be "sexy" in a live-action film? Why does there need to be an appeal to *********ing pre-teen males?

True. I just think she actually looks like she could be Emily's mother and she looks fantastic with blonde or brunette hair. Kate Blanchett or Chralize Theron would also be good choice also and Angelina Jolie.

Blanchett would look very much like Blunt's mother too.

Agreed, thats a pretty solid choice, and WW's supporting cast nneeds star power IMO

I would agree with you if the new series would be taking place in the dark ages but if it is indeed taking place in modern times then chunky medieval armor would be out of place and unnecessary. Wonder Woman's protection from physical harm has nothing to do with her armor sans the bracelets and all to due with her inherit demigod powers. She will not have to worry about constant sword battles and the fear of her stomach being unprotected. Like Heracles, his armor garb was more in ceremonial nature than in actual protection from physical harm.

WW's costume should hint at her Amazonian heritage and then be designed for looks.

G'day,

Firstly woman like the female characters to be sexy, especially for the fantasy characters we are discussing. You don't see girls wear pant suit Wonder Woman outfits do you? Remember this is a comic book movie, the link to the real world is tenuous at best.

Lets look at a couple of relevant screen productions:

Xena_warrior_princess_by_xena_96-d56o27k.jpg

I see cleavage, and the producers saw a successful 6 season TV show. Note there was no lack of female fans for her too .

Oh how I loved Lucy as Xena, :hrt::wow::woot:
