Since it looks like a Wonder Woman film (if it is made) is going in a different direction then previously thought, I would like to ask who would you like to see as the villain of a WW movie.

Darkseid........ yes im serius.. and yes i know he's not really one of Wonder Woman's enemies unless you count her time in the JLA..
but Darkseid is my faw pick for villian in every DC movie

I say Ares, even though i don't know how to do it without coming off all anti-war and stuff.

I say Ares. When Diana goes to America as the Themysciran ambassadore, Ares, unknown to Diana, tags along and sets up shop in the U.S., posing as (or possessing) a military industrialist. Or maybe a U.S. general. Or maybe both. Anyway, he starts manipulating events to get a pretty ****ing massive war started. As in, WWIII. When Diana's somewhat unique brand of activism starts to irk not only Ares but also the United States Government. Ares uses the feds to eliminate Diana, as he's still too weak to take her out himself. As the clock conts down to armageddon and Ares' power grows, Diana has to battle against the United States army and eventually Ares himself to save the world from it's own corruption. Yes, it's an anti war allagory. So what? Wonder Woman is sometimes used as an allagory for major political issues. Hell, they could make it even more of an allagory if they mention the fact that, in the DCU at least, gods are an extension of humanity, instead of the other way around. So, while Ares is behind all of this, in the end it's our own damn fault since we created him through our glorification of war in the first place.

Not a bad idea, only thing I'd avoid is WW v.s. Army for 2 reasons.
1)it's Hulk's shtick.
2)It's a hate crime to not support babykille...urmmm the troops.

Not saying I don't enjoy allegories personally, but I doubt hollywood would have the chutzpah to make it so.

1)it's Hulk's shtick.

Wonder Woman's done it in the past too.

2)It's a hate crime to not support babykille...urmmm the troops.

1) That's bull. Man VS. Government bits are still fairly well received.

2) Please don't imply that people in the military intentionally murder children as general practice. That's just stupid.

I decided to vote for Gitanta, there would be plenty of eye candy in that movie.

not the point, when you say super-hero v.s. army, joe q public thinks HULK!
I don't want WW getting changed in a phone booth for similar reasons.

Man VS TROOPS is different than Gov't.

Tell you what, when the US stops targetting civilians with "smart" bombs, effectively killing 600,000+ in a 4 year period of a city whose majority population is under 18, I'll stop implying the other inconvenient truth.

they certainly won't let a little colateral damage get in the way.

tough choice between Ares and Circe, but i eventually went for the God of War.

Ares has the most potential, thematically: Ambassador for Peace vs. God of War.

Circe's fun too (if she's in it, she should sing, just like she did in that JLU episode:woot: ).

I've been hearing that in the new spec script that Warner Bros just bought the villain is Paula Von Gunther, but she's not the chief villain, the primary villain is [BLACKOUT]a new character some renegade Amazon named Galina.[/BLACKOUT] I don't know if it is true or not.

I have heard from a fan of Wonder Woman that got his hands on the the new script that it is just awful. Me said it sounded like something me would really like because the WWII, nazis and Steve Trevor are some of his favourite elements of the old comics, but the script is a terrible empty action-fest and Diana is a tantrum-throwing brat and more of a sidekick for Steve Trevor with very little power.

I did have a very bad feeling about this new script! :csad:

That just seems rather nit-picky to me.

Man VS TROOPS is different than Gov't.

When one fights the government, one usually ends up fighting either federal agents or soldiers directly.

Tell you what, when you stop blaming every U.S. soldier on the planet for things only some of them have done and were ordered by the higher ups, not the average troops, then I'll start thinking that you're not an ******* for saying stuff like that.

Although I voted Cheetah, Ares definitly has the most potential in terms of grand-scale epic villainy. Circe does too, along with plenty of catfight potential, and Cheetah is just so iconic (somehow).

I think that Cheetah would make the most realistic and logical oponnet against WW in battles but she would only make good one on one fights and doesn't seem like the hinchmen type.

Ha ha ha, Congratulations - You ARE An Idiot!

600,000 - the UN estimates 150,000, most deaths have come at the fault of terrorist attacks, not American bombing.

Cheetah, but she'd have to be amped up some to really pose a challenge.

Of the selections on the poll, I only see three of the named characters making any sense for an origin film.

Voted Circe.

I think you could write Ares as a main villain without too much political subtext. Circe would be my first choice but I think that Ares would be a better box office draw as for a Wonder Woman debut villain. Circe as a follow up sequel villain.

I don't see why you wouldn't want to have political subtext. Wonder Woman is an ambassadore. Politics are a massive part of her life.

True true. Despite having a pretty liberal viewpoint I wouldnt want the movie to alienate too many viewers a la Episode 3. Dont think it should be completely abolished from the screenplay though.

Episode three was a priece of ****e anyway. Besides, who says it's political subtext has to have a completely liberal leaning? Being anti-war doesn't automatically make you a liberal.

Manhunter, you've got my PM to answer this little comment and that's all I'm going to say about it, whether it's here on the boards or in a PM.

As for the topic, I think Circe would probably make the best villian, having someone from her culture come and attack. The public, in general, would have a hard time trusting WW at first and having Circe as the villian would go to WW having to prove herself in their eyes.
