Won't Wonder Woman be hated for killing?

I don't think Wonder blitzing through anyone is supposed to be okay. They've been fairly clear that the movie will explore the nature of war and her related search for peace.

That is what I'm hoping for. As a "god" from an advanced race who saw human barbarity from any era -- it would be a good to have her be totally discouraged and turned off by humans. As opposed to her taking sides because she is the friend of a soldier from a particular side in the conflict. If it goes in that direction I would probably find it enjoyable. My main problem is the world war 20th century setting which is fairly overdone. Sure there are a lot less WWI movies than the second war -- but the "teams" and look are fairly similar. I just had hoped as she was long lived that they might have used a fresher, less seen time period.

As someone who is not a major WW fan and who just hopes that any CBMs are fun and well made, I just don't like the choice.

If I were a major WW fan,, I suppose I'd let that slide and just hope for a quality movie. My best buddy is a huge fan and he is excited that they just make a good movie based on her character.

I don't think the opinion of a general CBM fan -- but not a huge WW fan makes my thoughts pointless.

In the latest trailer, Hippolyta says "The fiercest among us...and that is not you, Diana" to young Diana.

Diana's true nature is probably peace loving and compassionate. War is going to be something she was trained into, not her true feelings about how to resolve conflict.

WONDER WOMAN may well end up being a metaphor for using violence VS compassion to resolve conflict.

Well given these two recaps from the Wonder Con panel

"she doesn't stab anybody…she uses the sword only as a defensive thing, she only knocks the guns out of people's hands"

and

Another clip featured was set in a warfront (World War I is the time period) with Diana jumping into a building and taking out a nest of German soldiers. While she doesn't kill them, she does bang them up quite a bit.

Wonder Woman in the beginning at least won't be going for the kill on regular humans

Hey, some legitimately good news. *thumbs up* Gives me a little more hope for the movie.

Not exactly sure if all of this counts as spoilers but Having seen the movie

Diana does kill in the movie, but I noticed that most of the time she rarely slashes regular humans with the sword. Didn't see any hacked off limbs or decapitations in the movie. She seems to opt more to throwing people around either with her hands or with her lasso. She does go for the kill on the General with her sword. But spares a helpless Dr Poison despite the atrocities Dr Poison is responsible for.

In the village scene, where she is clearing out houses she definitely slashes a few of them. And that sniper is almost certainly dead.

I lost count of how many people she killed.
And when she was in god mode, did she kill even more men

Amazons kill in a battle period, that's what they are trained to do. Which is why Diana killing someone in a war is not a big deal.

I don't think those World War 1 soldiers had a chance.

If they didn't have guns they would have all been slaughtered even more quickly. And the Amazons would have suffered a lot less casualties.

The fact that she kills in the movie is not the problem, but rather the fact that it makes her an hypocrite.

Reason; The fact that
she believes it's all Ares fault, and that mankind was good if not for him. If she believes that everyone is innocent, that makes all her kills criminal, even more because she cares so much for people

Problem with that is that when innocent people are brutally killing and slaughtering other innocent people, sometimes the only way to stop those innocent people is to kill them.

Sure, but that is why i found the script weak.

Even so, and taking what you said of "when innocent people"....but, weren't all innocent in her eyes, due to Ares?
That's a conundrum

Like how Superman killed a non human who was going to slaughter the whole planet after he killed that family in the train station?

It's like the case of an escaped mental patient. Sure he isn't responsible for his actions but if he goes on a shooting spree sometimes the police have no choice but to shoot and kill him.

No, because SHE kills with love...

Yeah.

Think about it.
