come on man, stop foolin yourself. no one has to be in relationship to understand when a person does'nt want to do something and is continually hounded by someone(a freind or a loved one) not only does it hurts, but you just get to the point where you finally cave in just for that person to stop hounding you. it's called peer pressure, but in your case, ***** whipping.

Even I'm aware of that it's in one's own interest to keep himself attractive to his partner as much as possible.

There is that side of it. There's also LISTENING to your partner and understanding when you're doing something that's very upsetting to them. I wasn't really listening to my wife over that issue and it turned out to be something that she felt VERY strongly about. Had I listened more closely to her, maybe I would have understood that before it came to a head. Particularly since it wasn't really THAT big of a deal to me that I have a goatee when it came right down to it. Considering that there is very little need for compromise between my wife and I as we are both very understanding of each other's needs and usually on the same wave length, it's not really that big of a deal to compromise on something that she feels incredibly strong about and that I ultimately really don't care about. In a relationship like a marriage, compromise is necessary sometimes. I'm lucky that I really don't have to make many compromises and that my wife let's me be who I am and do what I want without trying to change any of that. She truly loves me for who I am, and I feel the same about her. I'm very appreciative of the fact that not every guy in a long-term relationship or marriage is able to say that.
