Days of Future Past Worst moments in 'X-men: First Class'

The killing of Darwin. It served no purpose. I hated them killing him off.

The part where the military betrays the X-Men. Made very little sense. No reason for it. And even then, they really should know what Magneto could / would do.

It did result in a cool scene though.

If you thought it served no purpose, then you really need to watch the movie again. That scene and everything leading up to it was a huge turning point for the rest of the movie. Just take a moment to think about what it represented.

The Man in Black's exit. I didn't see it coming and was suprisingly upset by it!

Some of Shaw's power display, especially the bit where he blows up Colonel Hendry. This scene also showed to me that Vaughn is not very good with transitioning between scenes.

Another bad moment would be Emma's line deliver in the cell when she breaks that glass. And it also wasn't a very good line to begin with.

Angel's scenes where she's hovering also looked very bad, very obvious that she's held up by wires.

And Beast's first reveal in his blue hairy form in the hangar (not the transformation, the transformation was good). It looked very cheesy to me and overall I just don't think the Beast makeup in this worked.

I was fine with Darwin's "death" but the aftereffects could have been handled better.

I definitely laughed when Beast was in silhouette. It looked like fat Elvis.

I would add these:

- Angel's story arc was :down and totally illogical that a normal person would suddenly be ok with starting war.

- The lack of acrobatic fighting from Beast whatsoever.

- Emma not being able to escape on her own didn't make sense.

- Magneto's costume at the end was kind of a letdown IMO

- I didn't mind, but why was Xavier's accent so English? McAvoy said it was because Patrick Stewart did it that way, but I heard a mostly American accent in the first trilogy (with a bit of an English twang).

There's a few more that I'll probably come up with later. Some are just nitpicks. <shrugs>

The cool colorful opening scene was no where to be found.

What the hell is "wourse"?

Also, the post above me is kinda creepy.

It's a joke on the sister thread, "Favourite" moments in X-men: First Class

How is it a joke when favourite is correctly spelled? "Favourite" can also be spelled "favorite".

Worse is not spelled "wourse".

Except "Favourite" is a correct spelling in other countries.

I fixed it, because it was going to drive me crazy. :argh:

For anyone who hated the Magneto Costume at the end, then Im not quite sure why you didnt like it, It was near perfect.

Remember its the 60's not 2000!

Intentional or not, they hit the mark perfectly on the Jack Kirby look. Im looking through an old Kirby X-men issue now and cant believe how spot on it is with the baggy red look. The only thing missing from the movie was the gloves.

For fans of Kirby, seeing this on screen was very special!

-Some of the CIA compound stuff. Azreal ripping sh** up was cool. So was Shaw. But the nickname/codename scene and the death of Darwin/switch of Angel was bad

That's the only BAD moment I can think of

EDIT: And I guess the final cell scene

^^ I hope they don't attempt to re-create that version of Wanda's wimple if ever she is introduced...

I liked the codenames scene. It was the sort of thing kids and teenagers would do. At that point they didn't have any awareness of Shaw's evil plans, they were just joking around. In addition, it was a nice way to show camaraderie, which we haven't seen much of in these films.

Haha yea I was thinking the same thing. Some things work, but some things just wouldnt....

I dont mind they were coming up with codenames (although I really wanna know how they got to Magneto lol)
It's just that I think it couldve been better. Giving more backstory on the younger character which I felt this movie lacked

I don't think it could have gone into all that, much as X1 didn't go into the backstory of Jean, Scott, Storm.

This film was about Xavier, Magneto and Mystique. Everyone else was a supporting character. Now that the origins are out of the way on the key players, we may get more from the students next time, presuming the line-up stays the same. A new character coming in to the school would allow for the existing ones to open up on their background to the newcomer.

emma frost being easily subdued by xavier and magneto

the fact mystique didn't fight at all in the movie

the introduction of the lame irish mutant banshee

emma frosts diamond form changing her clothes as well as looking over alll cheap and like glass.
