Would an Outsiders movie be more likely than a JLA movie?

There's always a discussion of whether or not Nolan's version of Batman can fit into a world or would allow for a world that also includes the Justice League as we know it.

While I don't think this is really the case if the studios were decide against having Batman in a Justice League movie or to have a Justice League movie at all since they can't utilize the Batman character; would it be more feasible to go the route of having an Outsiders movie instead?

That is, Batman in his time as fugitive following the events of The Dark Knight and the supposed third Bat-film decides that he does need agents who can work on the more murky edges of vigilantism and brings together a group of non or very low powered heroes to do this for him; guys like the Question and Green Arrow and Katana and the like. Would this make more sense to do?

Ultimately mainstream audiences might initially feel like they're being gipped out of seeing DCs biggest guns together on the big screen but any good movie can win people over.

I really like that idea, but its not more likely. JLA will happen sometime in the next 10 years, I hope they could do an Outsiders film too.

it would be very interesting to see. I do hope jla film can happen but with all the problems dc has with their characters getting films on their characters i agree jla isnt likely to happen for 7-10 yrs.

Agreed. Yeah since it looks like theyre gonna do Batman 3, Superman Reboot, and GL before JLA, JLA seems impossible to do before 2015

yea and then they still need to do flash and/or ww to. So figureing if we get gl in 2010, batman 3 in 2011, say flash in 2012, and ww 2013 it would end up being 2015-2020 before we will ever get a jla film. It sucks things have been going so slow with dc/wb. Though if gl can be a smash and all that maybe flash/ww can finally get more forward movement.

Yeah but I'm thinking that WW and Flash might come after JLA. JLA, I'm thinkin will be their springboards

It would be interesting, but would have a reduced group of members. Katana, by example, would't be able to participate, because she's a magic character. Or they could change her completelly.

And Justice League will happen until 2015. At minimun.

Would a movie featuring Batman as the leader of a group of relatively unknown superheroes be more likely than a movie full of known superheroes?

Hmm...

1. What's with the phobia abut magic? The DCU is full of it, including Wonder Woman.

2. There are creative ways to downplay Katana's sword magic without showing it with visual effects.

JL should only happen once they've established all the primary players. Time should not be a factor. It needs a long term plan, not be rushed for impatient fans.

i agree 100% with what you said Major about taken the there time on doing a JLA movie.
I think DC/WB should get at least 6 of the major members their own movie (Bats, Supes, GL, Flash, WW, Aquaman) MM I think should be brought in when JLA gets made maybe just hint at him or glimpses of him through out the other movies.

The other thing I think DC/WB should do is also wait to see how marvel handles the Avengers to see if a superhero team movie does well. Yes I know X-Men and X2 did well and were good movies, but lately when you put to much visual effects and to many heros/villians in a movie hasn't been so good. (Spidey 3, FF1, FF2, X3,)

Now about the Outsiders, I think this type of movie could actually work in the "Nolan verse" Batman, I would love to see the Question in live action (I loved his character on JLU)
anyways I think both would be great movies if DC/WB took there time with them and don't just rush them out thinking they have to make them before people loose interest in superhero films.

Just because super-hero films have a fad at the moment doesn't mean the public won't be interested in the genre once it stops, which is inevitable any way.

As long as WB makes good super-hero films the public will aways be interested.

The real danger is WB itself losing interest, not the public.

yea i see its possible that jla would be a springboard for ww/flash that was sorta what they were planning to do with jl if that was to have come out this year. Though i think if gl happens and does well it might finally kick start flash/ww developments.

JLA is the big seven and any deviation could send fans in an uproar. I think Outsiders would be easier to make because most if not all of the characters are second tier with tons of potential type characters like Blade was. Don't think its more likely though

That was the plan. One with serious flaws in it.

I'm glad they decided to do the solo projects first.

They do need to co-ordinate better with the animation and live action tv divisions for the lesser franchises, though.

Agreed.

yea i know hopefully that has been happening now with the sumitt talks dc and wb had.

On down the road, I'd most definitely be game for such a possibility.

Ive been thinkin bout this a lot! This seems really cool for a movie

I'm wondering if they could even do the Question if Rorschach in Watchmen is a success.

Yeah, same. Rorschach's just lke him in appearance.

Well obviously since he's based off the Question but that's like saying you can't have the Green Hornet because people might confuse him for the Shadow.

I would love to see a Batman and The Outsiders movie, even a animated series.

animated series would be pretty sweet. But I would put Black Lightning in the lead role instead of Batman

Won't happen unless either a Bat or Super character is a main character. WB has made that pretty clear with the prior efforts on tv in both animation and live action.

Ironically Outsiders would have better shot at getting made not being tied to the DCU.

The only reason Outsiders would be more likely is that the stakes aren't nearly as high.

true, its something that the general audience would gravitate to and something the studio would be very interested in bankrolling. and its perfect in a way that its dark and related to Batman. although to keep The Outsiders within reasonable budget and to have the creative elbow room from Nolanverse they may want to have Nightwing lead the team, and maybe get the other bat-related characters in there, like Batgirl (Cassandra) and perhaps Huntress.
