The thought never came to me. I believe I read somewhere that some comics did depict him as cracking up at times. Not sure how true that is.

for all we know, Nightwing may not even be in this movie. perhaps a mention and that's that but we could see him pop up in either Justice League or a solo Batman movie which would then lead to a spinoff solo Nightwing movie hopefully.
