Transformers WTF? Why is Kevin Smith pissing on Transformers?

I gave Clerks a look for 10(ish) minutes the other night but switched it off. ADD or something. :o

You mean the first movie? I wore that movie out when I was in college. Now its kind of boring and you can see how poor the acting was. How many ***** did she suck?

I thought that it was great....It proves that something like Transformers is worthy of comedic praise. They wouldn't have wasted a joke on something that wasn't worth commenting on. It's kinda how they used Randall's commentary on the LOTR films.

According to Kevin Smith he had someone bugging him about a Transformers refrrence on his message board but he didn't really give a crap about TFs either way. Before his time apparently, so he probably just threw it in there for the sake of it. There's a link that explains this but I'm far to pissed to fin it right now.

Yeah, the first one. I'll definitely give it a watch over the weekend but I can't be arsed right now.

I don't know how you got through college though (beer?). I barely got through school without killing someone. :o

E: Love the avatar, TNC9852002. I almost bought the remastered version earlier but food got in the way. Next week maybe.

Clerks 2.... he's all about the anti-Transformers.

He's about as uber geek as they come, I thought he for one would understand teh coolness of The Transformers. :down

It is a comedy.

You do get 1000 nerd points for being all butt hurt over it though.

HooRay you!

Hooray!! I was starting to get worried about my nerd point total!! :D

I was -500 after not fanboyishly defending Superman Returns and thinking Hugh Jackman's Wolverine pwn3d Cyclops.

I got offended for two seconds into the movie and then I remembered that even though TF is something both fresh and dope, it only ever existed as a way to sell toys. So you should try not to put too much of yourself into your love of car changing robots.

LOL... :D

I think Randall is just such a hardcore Star Wars fan that anything else is blasphemy.

I do wish he *****ed about the Micheal Bay crap, and not taking a crap on the classic 80's series.

I argreed with LOTR impersonation, I did that once myself.

As long as none of you have a tale about something like Pillowpants, your not that bad.

I think he was more making fun of crazed Transformer loving geeks.

A: He wrote & filmed Clerks II long before this movie was completed, so he couldn't make fun of the movie.

B: He's made fun of Jesus, Necrofilia, and LOTR nothing is sacred to Kevin, even things he likes himself. That's why he's so great.

Clerks was what it was a movie made on credit cards for 30,000 that made millions. Good on him. His writing it's still as clever as ever. And Pillowpants alone was proof of that.

Wow, way to miss the point. I guess I'll have to elaborate.

Randall is and always has been the "wrong" guy. Almost everything he says is wrong, geek related, by what Kevin smith likes. Think about it, he said Return of the Jedi was the best star wars film, even though Smith has said Empire is the best. Randall is an annoying (and hysterical) mouthpiece for Smith to have an arguementative loudmouth for his dialogue.

except for the Lord of the Rings stuff. smith was saying the same things about the movies in An Evening With Kevin Smith 2

Clerks 1 and 2 are extremely funny. It's possible that they can date very fast, because Kevin Smith rips on current trends at the time, but they are still very funny films.

You know what is geeky/nerdy/toolish that no one has made fun of yet? Minority groups into Scarface/Godfather/mafia-related movies and mafia shirts/posters/jewelry. Just because the group of people that support this obsession/life style may be tough and can beat the crap out of a Transformer fan, it's still extremely nerdy and this trend should end or at least be made fun of. I assume it's not made fun of because this trend is more with minorities, so we got the Political Correctness factor there...

Putting a poster of Al Pacino's Scarface in your room (if you are older than 17) is just as bad as having a poster of Optimus Prime in your room.

Um, guys- it was a comedy meaning everything that was anything was getting made fun of.

Hell, they even made fun of LOTR.

I'm a long (long!) time Smith fan. Saw Clerks II in the theaters (it was aight). I didn't take offense at the TF comment. In fact, it reminded I gotta spend a little less time in The Hype.

If I remember correctly, he was more making fun of Transformers FANS, and rightfully so seeing some of the comments in this thread . .

Lighten up.

Its just a movie, Im a huge transformers fan and I loved clerks II and i thought all of it was pretty damn hilarious, besides he made fun of the LOTR, Star Wars, and Kevin smith loved the new star wars movies, so dont take any of it seriously it was all in good fun.

no he didnt.he hates them.who does like the new star wars?? anyways yeah im sure he enjoyed it.

all of his movies stink, so he shouldnt be talking.... there... i said it! :cmad:

Wow, some people are stupid.

Not only was the movie written and released before Transformers had even began being filmed, it was a JOKE written for the movie. It was for Randal's character. He's known to be a *****e fanboy that is harsh with his views.

Everyone that is genuinely upset by this must be under the belief that any film that has rape in it must mean that the director supports rape, or if there's a gay scene, the director is a homosexual, because some people obviously can't understand that not everything in movies is true, and that a director can't play devil's advocate.
