Comics X-Books That Should Be Burned

The Twelve/Ages of Apocalypse... Interesting concept, but I didn't like the execution.

The entire Morrison run in X-Men, followed by Casey's Uncanny run, closely followed by Morrison's run again because crap like that must be burned at least twice :D

Archangel carries Husk into the air, removes her clothes and has sex with her within sight of the rest of the team and Husk's mother.

This is the grossest part of Austen's work, he turns Warren into a paedophilia and exhibitionist!:cmad:

I can think of lots of things:

All of Lobdell's work
All of Milligan's work
Most of Austen's work
The majority of Claremont's post '91 work
All of those flavor of the month writers from the 90's
All of Ultimate X-men after the first 20 issues or so
Wolverine Origins
Colossus Bloodlines mini
Gambit/Bishop: Sons of the Atom mini
Rogue 2004 ongoing

I liked and miss Lobdell. He and Nicieza DEFINED the X-men experience for me...the 90s

Defining the X-men during the 90's isn't exactly a prestigious award. :cwink:

I hated his work: he couldn't write the majority of the X-men worth a damn, his stories always had weak follow through and an overly melodramatic prose, and his retcons were the most ham-fisted ones in the entire franchise.

The Draco series.:down

How could I forget that one?Liked the idea-I like Nightcrawler and it was intriguing to learn more about his past and all-but the art...I couldn'
t even recognise the characters,it was horrid!!!

...and people wonder why I only read SELECT series(es).

I dunno...the 90s X-men seems to have when they enjoyed their most popular incarnation...it also catapulted Wolverine into the NAME BRAND ranks...he is like a distant cousin to Superman, Batman, Spiderman, and Wonder Woman...

also...Lobdell brought us Operation Zero Tolerance..a great read, helped with the Phalanx Covenant...which gave us Blink and the rest of Generation X..wrote an AWESOME Bishop...plus he cut his hair..which was the best decision EVER for Bishop..he did other stuff too

plus the 90s were the last time that I actually LIKED Wolverine

Definitely anything Morrison/late Claremont. Also any issues that promote the Paige/Warren relationship.

hot dayum..me and Havok agree!!...and this DOES include the twelve crap
and the prettification of marrow
I actually didnt mind the actual 12 storyline but the follow up Ages of Apocalypse was just stupid. The beautification of Marrow was the worst. What a way to ruin a character. Kelly made me like her and Davis came and ruined it all. His artwork was bad, and at the worst for his career. Thank goodness UXM at least had Kubert's beatuiful pencils to make it a bit better than X-men at that time

Anything by Austen needs to be compiled into a rocket ship and sent into the sun....Angel's healing blood, crappy costume designs, nymphomaniac chicks...ok thats not so bad, Lorna going crazy for no reason.....Nightcrawler the son of the devil

I was with you until the Lorna stuff bc Austen cant be blamed for that. Morrison is the one that brought Lorna back and had her crazy. She was flying around the island naked, talking like a lunatic. Austen just followed up on that and she was more sane in his issues than when Morrison wrote her. And she wasnt crazy for no reason. I think being buried alive after surviving a mass genocide where pretty much most people around her are dead can have an affect on almost anyone

And Austen wasnt responsible for the costume designs. Thats on the artist. I actually loved the costumes on that title. They were probably the best thing about that bad run

IA, I loved Lobdell. Ranks as one of my top 5 X-writers. I wish he'd return bc he was responsible for some amazing stuff and helped defined the 90s X-men

Eh, I'd be up for killing off Astonishing.

It's because of the team though. The only character I find even grudgingly acceptable is Cyclops.

I don't mind Astonishing. I loved Gifted, though admittedly the next two arcs were "meh." Still though, when Whendon writes bad he's still not as bad as stories like The Draco.

I should actually amend that to say "all of Milligan's work except the Cyke mini where he revealed Sinister's backstory". That was good, but everything else(yes, X-statix too) was garbage.

Heh, definitely not; but that's how much I dislike him :D

I like Whedon's X-Men run, but I think he's highly overrated.

Anyway, the Draco is the correct answer. Chuck Austen's first two story arcs were okay, but his run went downhill fast. I liked the Fish Boy and good guy Juggernaut, but man did his stuff start to stink when he got to the evil communion wafers.
