X-Men ‘97 X-Men ‘97 News and Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS!!!!)

It just really hurt cause it made me think of
the real world hate crimes like the Tulsa massacre, the shooting of black people in Jacksonville last year, and the shooting at the lgbt nightclub in Colorado the year before. Just people trying to live their lives targeted by hate.

I liked all the mutant appearances

The episode is sadder than Infinity War and Endgame combined!

And the crazy thing is, Beau DeMayo was saying on Twitter that was his intention. Wild how X-Men is always so timely.

Episode 5 is a masterpiece.

Among other things....at this point, I don't care to see Morph on the team when there are so many great X-Men that could be regulars instead.
That's what I've said as well.

Nightcrawler, Iceman, Colossus, Psylocke, Angel, Shadowcat, Emma. I hope they have plans to later integrate those in the regular team.

Lenore Zann has taken some ridiculous flack for sounding old in the revival but that was her finest performance in the series. The original and 97. She made me cry. I'd love to be able to ask her if the read made her legitimately emotional because she really broke down during the final line. Heartbreaking.

Yes, quite sad actually.

On another note the soap opera of Cyke, Jean, Wolverine, and Maddie is just perfect. Emma with that knowing smile made me laugh.

The action is good in the ep too.

And the thing is, this is EXACTLY what you should do when you have a revival show. You use the nostalgia to lure people in and get eyes to your product, but then you write like this to keep the story fresh and to keep it going.

This show is without a doubt the best X-Men adaptation ever to me.

NO LIES SPOKEN HERE!

Man I got that ending spoiled for me and I still felt it when I watched lol. That just shows how good the show is. Like I didn't know I needed this show to exist but man I am glad it does. So so good.

Also I didn't think they would incorperate the elements some of the later X-Men stuff from 00s to present but it surprisingly gelled well within the show. Side note, I would have bet money that was Travis Willingham voicing Sebastian Shaw but apparently it wasn't :meh:

So… in the books
Cassandra Nova sends the wild sentinels to destroy Genosha, and we know she’s featured in Deadpool.
Anyone think these two might actually connect?

And here's the thing, even before those final 10 mins, the episode was a 10/10 with all of the rich character drama leading up to it. There is SO much to unpack with this episode!

Scott's interview with the reporter...WHOO BOY!

Couple of random thoughts.

Interesting that Moira was on the council and how they made a point to call out that she's not a mutant. Curious to see if that gets explored given her recent status in the Krakoa era comics or if it's just simply an easter egg.

Anyone else notice the Watcher halfway through the episode?

Also, predicition (that I saw someone else make on another board and shamelessly stealing :oldrazz:) . I bet that Leech saves Magneto, by depowering him after that last blast and that's why the Sentinal no longer detected an Omega Level threat

Oof so gutted.
I know it’s a typical Marvel thing to bring back dead characters, but Gambit has to come back.

Also I had to give myself a minute to come to terms with what I just saw. The ending music. Crying here.
