X-Men ‘97 X-Men ‘97 News and Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS!!!!)

That being said, I would love using this show as a way to introduce kids to the X-Men. I'm not sure they're ready for this episode. Although I'd like to think I would have been resilient if I had seen it.

My niece watched it, she's nine... she was super sad about Gambit but otherwise thought it was awesome

And personally, if Cable doesn't fix this s***, I ain't watchin no season 2, you hear me Marvel?! :questioning:

I mean, is it possible De Mayo parted ways to focus on live action? Lol is that me just being hopeful?

Also, is the controversy really just that he has an OnlyFans?

If we already have a S03 confirmed, I don't think this particular event will be permanent. But I hope it takes a good while to fix it. They cannot run the risk of losing emotional impact, and/or undermine the stakes for future impactful events. So I hope it's a very good while before fixing it.

He's said to be hard to work with. And he had some pretty homophobic comments on his social media.

Me, as a gay man, think what he said it's terrible, but the other gay part of me think it's hilarious the possibility of him being fired for bullying bottoms.

So this episode is the 9-11 of the show..What happend in this episode should stick..just like 9-11. Wonder if the show is brave enough to do that

Is the live action X-Men movie supposed to be a continuation of this show?

Same. I never said anything about not wanting to be stuck in the 90s again. :o

This team has seriously earned their flowers. I'm happy to admit to being wrong and enjoying this alongside everyone else.

Now give me "six seasons and a movie".
I'll take those six seasons and a movie if Gambit stays in them.

Gambit had so little in the first 4 episodes and he has so much potential and story left. I’m less sad about Magneto because he had his moments. Gambit had one moment and it was to die. That never sits right with me.

I think his final scenes were handled so well, but we should have got a lot more of him beforehand. Even better if this has been a death in a later season so we had plenty of time to explore him and his background, his relationships with teammates and his relationship with Rogue.

Also, the red head under the tarp, are we supposed to assume Maddy died as well?

I don’t personally think so. Feels like too much to do all at one time.

According to Demayo, it was Maddie

So yeah, at lot of this will probably be undone, hopefully without undoing the tragedy of the attack overall

I have no problem with X-Men and comic book storylines “undoing” certain events—it’s part of their charm IMO. It’s not real life; that’s the beauty.

So however Episode 5 impacts the rest of the series and however long its effects are maintained/felt, count me in. I have 0 complaints with how the creatives have been approaching these characters and stories.

I took all the shots of them lying down as confirmed kills.

Madelyne
Shaw
Calisto
Moira
Banshee
Don’t forget
Dazzler who was next to Shaw I believe.

To be fair, its probably the most comic accurate thing they have done with that character.

Lol that's definitely you being hopeful.

I dont think Onlyfans was the reason. His firing only drew more attention to it then he would've had, had he stayed.

Agreed. Episode 5 wasn’t great only because of the last 10 minutes for me. I would prefer the impact of higher gravity events to be felt for longer, but I’m not going to complain if we see certain characters again down the line.

I'm excited for the MCU X-Men, but as far as I'm concerned, THIS is the main course. I don't think the show can be matched, it is so uncompromising, raw, and beautiful
Seriously, I was annoyed waiting so long for the MCU X-Men. But if Marvel keep feeding me with this show, I don't care about waiting for the MCU at all.

If only it came sooner.

Oh I swear to god if they ruin this show with Multiverse shenanigans to force a connection to the MCU. :argh:

Let this show be its own thing for godsake, Feige.

So I saw on Twitter about a development...

Apparently Captain America is supposed to be on an episode. Methinks Theo James might be Cap.
I'm not gonna lie, I know he's a beloved character by many, but I'm disappointed...
