X-men 3 Commentary

Singer should do X4 to redeem the series.... to redeem Rogue, Cyclops, Angel, and over everything, Jean/Phoenix.........

any1 know if there is a difference between the 2 versions on the DVD, "Take A Stand" and something else. They both seem to play the same movie.

just wondering, yeah im a nube.

I don't think so, no. There may be different Easter Eggs depending on whether you choose to join the Brotherhood or take a stand with the X-Men (or whatever it is). Aside from that, no.

The exact excuse for it being cut was that Iceman was the dominating character in the scene.

Wow, that's a really lame excuse.

"Yea, we're giving some character development to other character. Nah, not a good idea. Let's make Wolverine even more out of character, and give him yet another moment that should have been Scott's"

:whatever:

I love this movie. I really do. But certain things about it are just :whatever:

During the commentaries on the movie with Zak, Simon and Brat:woot: ...there were a couple of things worth mentioning...first of all Zak did most of the talking...its not clear at what point this commentary track was recorded...it seemed like they had a lot of thoughts fresh in their heads about the movie as they discussed that it was some time after it was released...probably over the summer.

Zak and Simon revealed that they pushed for a lot of things to stay in the movie, this we already knew...Brat seemed to be friendly with them and open to some of the discussion during the commentary...but then other times you can hear in his voice that he disagrees with something the writers just said.

They talked briefly about Gambit's almost cameo and how they decided to pull it cuz it wouldn't do him justice, but they didn't mention the no-name dude standing on the hill next to Juggs during Mags speech...they pointed out continuity errors...they complimented all the actors, some pretty standard stuff.

Zak and Simon said they were upset that the original speech Wolverine gave (the one from the trailers) that they wrote was not chosen, as they agreed it was a better scene...Brattner did not agree.

They were upset that Rogue took the cure...Brattner, said something like "you can't not give both sides to storyline"...that there had to be conflict with the characters (like Rogue) who didn't have any action scenes. He said she's already been used in the previous movies, and they had to show realistically what they felt movie Rogue would do...so really its a plot hole with no pay off...they thought that her disapearance through the entire movie makes no sense if she comes all the way back at the end...and "didn't take the cure?"-Brattners words....also one thing they mentioned that I did not know...is the reason for some of her limited screen time was due to the fact that she was filming another movie...the same was said about Cyclops...this doesn't change the fact that they were both already written out of the story...so its a huge contradiction imo.

Relating to Phoenix and her look...even the writers agreed that how she's depicted in the comic books would not translate well into the reality based movies that Singer had created...so they wanted to keep it somewhat beleiveable.

A few times Brattner asks "were fans upset by that?" or "were fans talking about that online?"....Zak and Simon always responded like "boy did they ever".

They defended the fact that many scenes and references were taken directly from the comics...but thats what the makers of these movies always say:whatever:

Brattner and the writers agreed that the Danger Room had to be in there and that the studio execs weren't convinced...the reason they were allowed to go through with it was because the fastball special would be used later on at the end...and that this would come full circle....all over one stupid line...Basically, the producers wanted it, the writers wanted and the director all wanted to make sure that we finally got it this time...and thought that we would be happy with so-called "nods to the fans" with the addition of the Sentinel and the look of the sequence being an omage to Days of Future Past.

The explanation of the secret scene at the end wasn't that it was a secret at all...nor was it supposed to intentionally tease us with the idea of an X4...one thing not noticeable in the room...is that this non-brain functioning vegetable is P. Xavier...Xaviers long lost twin brother...so if there is an X4, and Charles returns...this is how they're going to explain it. Brattner and the writers planned the scene but didn't think it would've been filmed...the studio ended up being very happy with that moment. On a side note about teasing us with a sequel...they did say, they set certain characters up for (if ever) a sequel...i.e, Bolivar Trask.

I have to hand it to Lauren Schuler Donner, as she expressed her true dissapointment on the Producers Commentary track, with Rogue taking the cure.

I listened to both commentaries...I'm not sure if this was informative enough to describe the producer's commentary...but I did like when they pointed out things that were Mathew Vaughn's ideas. Overall I like listening to commentaries and these were worth it, because the giant mess that this movie almost was...needed some explaining.

There was little talk about an extended edition...but both commentaries said at times...maybe on the directors cut...however..."the theatrical cut" defends Brattner "is my directors cut"....so, Extended Edition, or Uncut Edition...with special features...is the only way I'm buying this lackluster DVD. The deleted scenes were great, the commentaries...good enough...but I want documentaries, interviews and making of specials. Heres to hoping:cool:

Nice breakdown. Thanks.

I only listened to a portion of the Ratner, Kinberg & Penn commentary.

I'll get around to watching them one of these days. But I usually don't watch commentaries. It's like, if I'm gonna spend 2 hours watching the movie, I'm gonna watch the movie.

Yeah, that was flat-out ******ed. He also said that it was "too long". God-forbid we have ONE scene that doesn't focus on Wolverine and is more than 30 seconds long. That version was much, much, much better than the version that made the final cut.

It's amazing that Singer and Ratner are friends even though their styles are completely opposite of one another.

Yeah, I wish Singer woyuld've talked some sense into him. I am just gonna laugh in his face when Spidey beats their asses out.

listening to the X2 Commentary with Brian Singer. I like that Brian keeps everything and it all makes sense. he doesn't contradict himself. he knows what he's talking about. He's definitely one of my favorite directors.

Listening to the Ratner commentary was very painful and pissed me off so I stopped. I much prefer Lori, and Avri.

I can't stand Avi's voice. He sounds like he's ******ed.

I would like Singer to return just as long as he doesnt screw up Storm (No she isnt already screwd up in these movies so dont use that as response to my comment) which is why im hesitant of him

I want Singer to return. Badly. Especially if the next movies involve Angel turning to Archangel. I don't want that fat **** anywhere near that storyline.

I don't think they would go that far. However, I do think that Fox would try and make Wolvie the one to bring Angel back, instead of Iceman. :whatever:

... LOL ... hmmm Wolvgel. hahaha lol.

Warren: Logan...ur making me blush...

Logan: orly? I've heard that before.

Warren: Mmm I bet. Now that Jean is dead, u think we can give us a try?

Logan: Excuse me? Are you coming onto me? I thought Iceman...

Warren: Ice-who?

Logan: this isn't you warren...

Warren: I know you want me...

Logan: no I don't.

Ratner's high-pitched squeal that makes him sound like a prepubescent girl bothers me far more than Avi's heavily accented English. :oldrazz:

Avi reminds me of english graphic design teacher LOL...and he looks identical to him.

I'm sorry, but I just can't STAND Brett's voice. It's just so damn high-pitch, like he's overcompensating for growing up as a little school girl or something.

liek teh x-men boarding the jet alternate. THERE WAS TOO MUCH FOCUS ON BOBBY?!?!?! are you serious. there needs to be focus on every character to have balance. *cough*colossus*cough*

.

I think Fox had him put the other version in, because it made Wolverine look bad. Bobby stood up to Wolverine, and made him look like a punk. This version should have been in the movie. It sound and seem better.

You are underestimating FOX they went to far with the damn Pheonix Saga

Nothing can stop them

It is almost a sure thing that it would be Wolverine that goes evil

Arch Claw Im telling you

Part 1 - Rebel did his own thing
Part 2 - Chosed sides
Part 3 - Got Soft
Part 4 - Goes Evil

& not to mention look at the stupid excuse with why they did not go with the original speech Wolverine gave the X-Men before boarding the X-Jet

You can bet your ass that if they do any X-Men goes evil story line it WILL be Wolverine

Stupidest alternate ending, comment in my opinion was Beast going to work for the UN.
HOW F*ing random was that, he leaves govt to rejoin it?!
The scene with his as a teacher was much much much better and more fitting with his character and the need for a new teacher at the Xavier Institute....
BRATNER SUCK MY BALLZ

gawd. Im getting sick of Wolverine being the hero of this and of that. Give some of the other X-Men the credit of being a f***ing Hero. Its high time fox moves on and gives marvel back the rights. Marvel should have known better by now... and something needs to be done soon.

oh and it was Penn or Kinberg in the commentary on the whole "pathetic meatsack" line who said..."My mother used to call me that"..."She (Rebecca) pulls it off"...."I got a lot of slack for that line"....I wonder why? What an idiot...I thought it was dumb...how do you screw up a great line like..."I don't answer to my slave name"...by following it up with "my family tried to kill me you pathetic meatsack"...what?!

Does anyone notice that everytime Avi is about to mention something important, Ratner cuts him off? And it's not just that, he gets cut off a lot,ol. I know that Avi was about to say something about Phoeixs' powers and Ratner cut him off..I was pissed.
