Sequels X-Men Live-Action TV Show in Development at Fox

No, I am convinced that X-Men are Marvel characters and that later (or sooner) they will be back where they belong. Same goes for FF.

And I will get my own movie! And I will be allowed to use the word "mutant" in the MCU boards on the site! :jd: That is .. when X-Men goes back to Marvel.

If you are hoping for the X-Men rights to revert to Marvel, then the recently announced deal is the worst possible outcome. With the expansion into TV, FOX has strengthened their hold on the franchise. And there has been thawing of the FOX/Marvel relationship on the merchandise side as well. M&M/Mars recently announced that X-Men: Apocalypse tie-in merchandise will be available for next summer's release.

I wouldn't be shocked if there are easter eggs in future films linking the separate Marvel and X-Men film universes. But the X-Men ain't reverting. The FF on the other hand......

Tbh if fox traded F4 for the tv shows legion and hellfire i dunno if fox really got the better deal here

What worth does the Fantastic Four have to Fox now over television rights to X-Men? None. Zero. Zip. And as Zarex mentioned above, there must be some merchandising agreements attached as well.

It's pointless for Fox to hang onto the FF rights instead of using them as a bargaining chip to get something worthwhile. It looks like they've done that here...

It's a good deal for both sides, and may involve additional programs as well like the rumored X-Factor spin-off. FOX's bargaining power was shot as soon as Fant4stic hit theaters, and getting something for nothing is nothing to sneeze at.

there is rumor i heard on twitter that Fox traded FF to share tv rights for
X-Men but all ideas have to go through marvel.

If true fox execs need to be fired for incompetence.seriously marvel got everything but what did they get? 2 tv shows which could only last 1 season
and they don't even control the TV rights or 2 shows made from deal?

I may not have fancy degree but even i know in business you don't make deals where the competion gets everything and you get very little.

Well fox already own the characters they are usin for the tv shows and marvel now own galactus, doctor doom and 4 more heroes to their collection for phase 4 or whatever so cant say i am sure fox got the betted deal.

We will just have to see if anything else went with the deal like merchandise since the m&m thing doesnt mean much as simiar thing happened with dofp

Once again, the FF rights have no worth to Fox now over X-Men television shows. Hellfire and Legion are the two we know of RIGHT NOW.

There's no indication those are the only ones we're getting at this point...

I think it would be perfect if this deal took place. Fox gets the rights to use the X-Men for tv shows (those two might just be the beginning) now that the medium and the genre are a really popular match and Disney gets the rights to FF characters that weren't utilized in years, in a place they'll probably have a much better use for them in their extended universe.

That being said I think the X-Men should stay away from the MCU at least for a few years time. They won't be able to massively produce X movies with all those properties they own and I'm not really interested in forced crossovers like other users already stated. I believe they are in a very good place in terms of both quality and quantity right now.

if fox didn't get at very minuem complete control and rights to do live action tv shows on character they own film rights to they gave away store for very
little in return.Marvel having any control over X-Men related live action tv shows but getting complete film rights to FF,Silver surfer, doom, and Galactus
is very very bad deal for Fox.and whoever at fox made the deal should be fired if all fox is getting is 2 tv shows approved since all benefit seems to go
to Marvel.

I don't even know if hellfire and legion will be good.i am very meh on legion because are any X-Men fans really excited that much on show focusing on him especilly when very unlikely Xavier or any X-Men will ever show up on show.

That's true because the last thing that any comic book movie wants to do is oversaturate its own market.

Tv is a totally different ball game, if no one watches it or gets bored then it gets canceled, its not the sorta thing that can be rebooted in a few years like movies, a cartoon perhaps but not live action.

Now obviously if fox got merchandisin aswell as tv as part of the deal that may be pretty good with their options, cartoons, games ect

Once again, Legion and Hellfire are the only two shows in development that we know about. We have no idea what could come down the pipeline in the future, lord some of you people are so short-sighted.'

You'd seriously rather they hold on to some useless movie rights and try to reboot them again in 10-15 years instead of getting some fresh television content?! The even bigger win here is that Fox and Marvel are willing to WORK TOGETHER. That opens up the door for many things in the future.

If fox were to get total live action rights to X-Men then yeah more could come in future.it appears fox wants to extended the X-Men universe with tv shows not do seperate universe like DC.

but your forgetting if rumor is true marvel gets everything from FF that fox has but marvel apparently gets cut of X-Men tv shows with marvel producers credited as executive producer.although they may be producers in name only since shows will be produced by fox.

I think some need to remember the fox network treatment of genre shows.

a deal would be better if animation and film and tv merchandise was included.

Steve Weintraub from Collider had said his sources have all said that Fox have owned the TV rights all along, so there was no deal necessary

I have seen that too on twitter and other scoopers say marvel hasn't regained FF rights.still claim fox owned tv rights all along doesn't seem accurate or
some kind of deal where money was exchanged happened and fox owning tv rights all along is the PR cover.

F*** the MCU. I'm tired of MCU this, MCU that. I don't want this tangled in MCU s***. I don't want forced crossovers for the sake of post-credits scenes.

As this conversation continues, I can't help but agreeing to this. Emphatically.

Keep the X-men seperate. Let there be something different than the sameness of the MCU.

Honestly, the fact that many are down on Legion shows what terrible taste people can have.

I'm more excited for Hellfire, but I'm excited for Legion too. I don't know much of anything about the character but that's the great thing about branching out into television. You get the chance to explore smaller, lesser known characters that may not ever make it into the movie universe.

There's a lot of opportunity here folks!

Yeah, not everything has to be action/adventure all the time. There is a reason that Daredevil is the first Marvel production to actually get a positive response out of me.

Legion just seems like it is going to be something really different.

Hellfire is one with more poential.legion i am not sure what to make about legion.

There is poential they could bring back emma frost for Hellfire especilly since on DOFP audio commantary Bryan Singer hinted emma frost could return in future despite her apparent off-screen death.and there is opening to use other hellfire club members on show that weren't In First Class.

Hellfire we need more info. That brief blurb isn't quite enough to go on. It can go in so many different directions.

I'm excited for both, but so far, Legion seems to be the more concrete show at the moment.

He's lying.

"[For] X-Men, we're in negotiations with Marvel. We're hopeful we'll be able to announce something soon. We're not closed on a deal yet, but it's something we're definitely pursuing," Fox Television Group chairman and CEO Dana Walden told THR on Thursday at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour stop.

Yep. Fox never had the tv rights.

United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit said:
The Agreement reserved all television rights to Marvel, subject to a proviso, critical to Fox's pending contract claim, that Marvel would not "produce, distribute or exploit or authorize the production, distribution or exploitation of any live-action motion picture" without Fox's consent (the "Freeze").

The sheer fact that Legion will be on FX has me more excited because there are certain liberties afforded on that channel than on regular network Fox.

I'd love to see some weirdness with Muir Island and other "crazies."

I'd like to see a little bit of humor injected into Hellfire Club. With the 60's setting and wit coming from Frost & her Cuckoos, I'm sure this show will be a lot of fun.
