Sequels X-Men Live-Action TV Show in Development at Fox

Just can't see this working, unless it was one of the offshoot teams (X-Factor, X-Force, ExCalibur).

It wouldn't make a lot of sense for them to have the tv show running in a different reality than the movies. IF they were going to do this it would likely be akin to Agents of Shield, meaning in the same universe.

That would mean either the movie actors on TV (unlikely), which would take away from the movies when they come out, or it would be an offshoot as explained above, with infrequent cameos. I could see that.

For example, if it was X-Force with Cable, Domino, and maybe a few New Mutants (Boomer, Cannonball), and maybe one other (say... Shatterstar or Warpath), that would work. It would likely need to be in the present, which is tough, but a better option than in the past. Maybe Patrick Stewart could cameo, especially in the first episode in order to establish characters like Tabitha and Sam. Famke, Halle, James and even Kelsey could cameo as well, just to get things established. Bring in Selene as a villain. Maybe Fitzroy and Bentam? Shoot, they could even have Emma Frost (recast) as the Headmistress of an Academy in Massachusetts that becomes an opposing force (she could have faked her death).

See, in this way, this could work. But if they tried to make it Xavier's Institute with Charles et al, I can't see it being done well enough, and again, would take away from the movies when they came out.

The only other way to do this right would be by rebooting the franchise, which wouldn't make a lot of sense right now.

Sorry, I just don't see this happening.

More info on the possible X-Factor Investigations TV series:
Recently, word broke that Fox was “deep in development” on a live-action X-Men TV series. Shortly after it was revealed that this series is likely to be based off of X-Factor Investigations era and would star Jamie Madrox aka The Multiple Man. Shortly after that was revealed, more details came out that the series may also feature Evan Peters’ Quicksilver. Other names that we’ve heard include Siryn, Rictor and Layla Miller. However, if you were hoping to see Eric Dane reprise the role you may be a little disappointed because we’ve heard they’re looking at a younger cast for the series.

I say a big no to Layla Miller. She just doesn't appeal to me. I say yes to Rictor.

...and Shatterstar.

And hopefully also use some of the 90s era team. I'm thinking Forge should be part of it. And it's not X-Factor without Strong Guy. We need a big bodybuilder guy with a sense of humor involved in this series.

Siryn is banshees daughter right? no idea how that would work unless they ignore the relation

Do the shows need to be related to the films though? As cool as that would be...I wouldn't mind if they're separate continuity.

Banshee wasn't even an important character in First Class, so in my opinion, if they ever do Siryn, they don't need to address that they are related. Just two characters with the same powers/surname.

Thats soooo lazy, lol. I dont understand why some fans preffer a lazy approach to this franchise, instead of a more well thought and connected world and characters

Because making Siryn, Banshee's daughter would just open a can of worms.

And also just because its similar to the comics, it doesn't automatically make things right.

How do you explain Siryn's existence in X2 or this show when Banshee was killed before 1973? Are they gonna bring back Banshee from the death? Did you even consider those? Ignoring those IS taking the lazy approach.

I don't want them to take the lazy approach but Banshee is dead, we probably won't get to know him more and he was not an important character in First Class.

I don't think they would want to do that. To compete with Marvel's shared universe, they need to keep things consistent and combine casts between films and tv shows.

marvel universe is not Foxiverse they are not connected, nor should they be since they won't share characters in the movies, I say show us the early years and that way things that were not in the movies can be explored, they never showed us the original five in school, first class don't count

I hope this is a non-continuity show. I'd love to see the classic team, going on missions each week, and seeing that world develop.

Every studio wants that connective tissue these days though.

Yeah as much as I want a standalone Tv show featuring the actual X-Men team.

The studio and producers would want the TV show to be connected to the film series, first to expand their universe, 2nd to milk the success of the films and 3rd, to also promote the upcoming films within the show.

But do the X-Men need their universe expanded with X-Factor? What benefit does that bring? Considering the X-Men is one single franchise (albeit with different teams within it) most of the interesting characters will be saved for use in the movies and so the TV show will just be the boring mutants not worthy of the movies.

I'd love alternate versions of the characters on a different platform.

You just answered your own universe. It expands the universe. And it gives cool/interesting mutants who either wouldn't appear at all in the movies, or who wouldn't get a lot to do (even a lot of BIG time X-Men characters haven't gotten much to in the movie, or been introduced at all) a chance to shine. And I don't like the idea of having multiple versions of the same characters running around at the same time in different continuities. It doesn't really appeal to me.

All the interesting mutants will be off limits. Fox are going to want to utilise the ones with potential for the movies - for example, you wouldn't be seeing Mr. Sinister in an in-continuity series. A series about the D-List (and lower) mutants doesn't appeal to me

Personally, I would love lesser known mutants getting a chance to shine. It would be cool to see the Alpha Flight characters at some point in the show, as I doubt they would ever show up in the movies. Just because they are lesser known doesn't mean they don't have any potential for good stories. To each his/her own.

I'm not saying they wouldn't (I'd love to see Alpha Flight), just that I'd rather an X-Men show not bound by the restrictions of the movie continuity

Yeah. If Fox has the rights for it, they really should forward with doing a TV show with mutants thatwe might not ever see in the big screen.
