also, i love how you write the final climatic duel between nightcrawler and azazel! nighty really dominated that battle! he didn't just get lucky like in any other super hero flick! he learned and gave it every thing he got! and would you like me to give night crawler a learning curve in the script? just wondering...

Lightning strikes as the doors to a catholic church opens with a sharp bang. NightCrawler walks in. he walks down the aisles of empty rows of benches. He looks around at the dimly lit candles. Wax runs down the sides. He walks up to a statue of Jesus. He begins his prayer:

Nightcrawler
Dear Lord, I come to you tonight in mercy. I pray for my mother. That she and her husband…

cut to: ext. woods-night

A woman in a cloak runs from angry dogs. They growl. A man runs behind her. Her face is hidden from a hood…

cut to: int. church-night

NightCrawler continues to pray:
NightCrawler
…will be protected from all evil the devil pours out…

cut to: ext. wooden bridge over waterfall-night

The woman screams! She suddenly drops a package from her hands. It falls into the waterfall…

cut back to church int. night

NightCrawler finishes:

..and that your mercy pours out over them. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A priest walks from a room from the side of the room.
priest
Oh, do you need help Mr.? Maybe a quick prayer?
NightCrawler
No thank you, but can you anoint me, please?
priest
Well, why not?
Cut to a black screen. the words x-men origins NightCrawler pop up on the screen. it soon all fades away to:

high society club- night

A heading pops up: Early 80’s…. a woman, (Raven Darkholme), sits at a counter, lonesome. A tall yet strong man walks in, (Eric Wagner).

Would you like a drink?
raven darkholme
Sorry, but I don’t drink.
eric wagner
Oh, well what do you drink?
Raven smiles…

fastforward to: ext. mansion garden- day

Raven and Eric walk up to the mansion holding hands. They have wedding rings on. Eric smiles at her. She smiles. She then turns her face out of sight and frowns.

The Velvet Onion would be fine as a screen name. The whole movie should feel like a Learning Curve... Kurt Wagner is 1) Learning his own Origin 2) Learning what kind of character he is 3) fully understanding his ability. This should be a constant feel throughout the script.

I like what you have done with the script but i fear it may be a little confusing for the viewers to follow. I mean you cutting between Nightcrawler aged now to Mystique back then... I suggest a slower pace to start the movie off.

See how i always figured the start of the movie would be like is.... Imagin you have just watched X2, and you know that Nightcrawler doesnt stay with the x-men. So what did Nightcrawler do next. Personally i dont like the idea of the computer game which explains he was with the x-men but didnt like the violence so left. But the way i feel you want to think this...

Kurt Wagner was drugged by stryker, commited sinful things against his will, He tried to attone for them when he entered the church in Boston but meet the x-men instead and went on that journey. So what you got to picture is this...

Now that the story of X2 has ended, Nightcrawler has returned back to that church and he himself is looking to repent. To of which a Priest there finds him praying and instead of being spooked by his appearance offers to listen to his confession. Then from the confession you move towards Mystique in the 80's

The one apparent thing that you must never approach upon is that Nightcrawler must never know who his mother is. Nightcrawler only knows his mother by the name of Mrs Wagner or (Mother)... Now the whole saga with this movie upon finding out who Nightctrawler is and where he came from. What you got to imagin is that he finds out about Azazel his father and the story revolves around that. Now we know that it ends with Nightcrawler being captured by Stryker and then you have the movie X2. But i think we could have a very interesting thread for a sequel...

The priest enquiring something along the lines of "So who was your mother?" to of which you would imagin that Nightcrawlers next adventure is to track down his mother. "In Nightcrawler 2: The Search For Mystique" ha ha... again its not as if you would make a sequel but you have to leave that little thread to say well we could go here.

Nightcrawler 2 could essentially be set in the future after x2 where Mystique, a depowered mutant who has set up a new brotherhood "Consisting of Avalanche, Pyro and possibly an older Blob from x-men origins wolverine" Nightcrawler ends up coming up against each of them until he finds his mother "Mystique" and unwittingly enables her to bring back her mutant ability... But im talking ahead of myself.

do you mind if i make the duel between nightcrawler and azazel a little bit long? maybe ending in the forest?

That sounds fine. I imagined the scene to be longer but my 45 step scene by scene is just a short idea of what im invisioning. If you think any area needs extended please do. I personally think there is more that could be done with Nightcrawler at the circus but i dont want that to be the large portion of the movie. I want you to see the journey of nightcrawler, not the act.

As long as we have the key points. Especially the end, i think that is the more important part because it ties together this movie with x2.

If you move the fight scene into the forest could i suggest that it is raining? just have this whole idea of a swordfight ontop of the castles tower then BAMF they fall, BAMF They land in the forest continue fighting... Hmmm this has given me an interesting idea.

Have Azazel and Nightcrawler fight all the way from the castle, through the forest and the final scene is Nightcrawler strikes Azazel down in the Church... and it is then he realises what kind of a person he is however before he can repent striker knocks him onconcious...

fight across draw bridge
fight through forest, hiching a ride on a car,(or what ever vehicle there would be)
get off at town and azazel causes some destruction. sends in a crowd of veiwers.
ends at church.

Hmmm lose the ride on top of car thing... I picture the final scenes taking place at night in the rain with some thunder... You dont want the fight to go on and on.... just look how boring the final fight was in Pirates Of The Caribbean was, i mean you saw it and thought yeah cool... then ok, then ok then you looked at your watch then finally it ended.... The fight needs to be a fluid motion sort of along the lines of...

Previously Nightcrawler had sword fighted with Azazel and was Knocked unconcious, he sees Magik who tells him to trust his insticts, Nightcrawler wakes up, Azazel lunges at him however Nightcrawler teleports a short distance away, seeing him Azazel then goes to use his mind control however...Camera goes into slow motion, We see Nightcrawler in a series of Teleporations that makes him neither here nor there making it unable for Azazel to control him. As Nightcrawler hits Azazel a few times, Azazel is able to outsmart him and catch him however Nightcrawler pushes himself and Azazel over the side of the tower of the castle, They fall however with Nightcrawler Teleporting they land not so hard but the two continue to fight, As the Lightening strikes we see the silhoettes of Nightcrawler and Azazel fighting through the forest till you get to an edge of a cliff that crumbles and the two fall towards the village still fighting slightly hurt Nightcrawler finds himself in the church starting to think Azazel is too powerful and he is unable to stop him. Azazel enters and the two continue to fight only this time just swords, a few comments are made about Nightcrawlers Mother, Nightcrawler drops his sword and is about to give up, He sees a statue of Jesus and goes down on his knees excepting the enivitablity as Azazel goes to strike Nightcrawler teleports which causes Azazel to be impailed on a spear killing him.
