There is a video where Bryan Singer say the budget for SR is under $200.
singer IS on video stating that the budget for SR was $184.5m probably increasing to a little over $200m.As for these sites claiming it is $260m+ i can only asume they are inc all the previouse films development costs, which is not realy right to do so.

now seeing as this is an x-3 box office, can i just say the figures have been exellent.

"Superman Returns dropped significantly yesterday, taking in an estimated $8.5 million on the actual Fourth of July. The total is now around $105 million for eight days (more or less) -- not exactly a speeding bullet."

I just saw Routh on Entertainment Tonight and I thought it was funny how he nearly choked on the words when they asked him about the box office so far. He was at a Nascar race promoting the movie and he said he was happy that the movie was doing what they expected. I thought he was going to cry during the interview. He’s such a poor liar for a professional actor. Then again, he's such a poor actor.

I wonder if X3 and Superman Returns are linked? If Cyclops did die in X3, I can think of no greater hell then to be transformed in to a character appearing in this dull Singer Superman movie. Either he's dead and must suffer or else the omnipotent Jean sent him to a parallel universe and transformed him in to an impudent milk-sop as punishment for leaving her at the bottom of a lake. Think about it...

wow dude, could you be any more spiteful? I know this is the X3 board so people will lean a bit more towards the gain of TLS, but at the end of the day, they're just films. Whether or not you cared for Brandon's performance is all subjective, but don't go hating on the guy because the numbers didn't sky-rocket like X3, that doesn't really negate whether or not people think its a good movie. And the concensus still stands, as much as you may or may not want to admit it, that the movie got a lot more right than it did wrong. And just for the record, this is coming from someone who also enjoyed X-Men 3, and not just Superman Returns...give it a rest, dude.

You do realize that Jean forced Scott & the Team to leave her there agaisnt their will

If Jean ever got pissed about that then she would officially be the biggest ***** in the World

OH well SR is a bomb. That is Bryan and WB fault, This is what happens when you mess with marvel fans and their franchises :o.

What do you mean? You believe the reason SR won't make that much money is because of Marvel fans who are angry that Singer left X-Men 3 for Superman? I think one of the reasons the movie isn't doing well has to do with Superman not being as popular as he used to be. I remember in the early 90s DC comics had to kill Superman off in a series of comics because the sales for Superman comics were so poor. Only one of my friends who likes comics was excited to see this film. Most of my other friends think Superman is boring.(Even the ones who used to think he was cool when they were younger.)

Personally i don't want Brynt to be back for a 4th x-men if there ever will be one because he has proven me that with time and huge budget he STILL CANNOT DELIVER PERIOD..

Bryan won't be back as long as Tom Rothman is CEO of FOX. Byran proved to me he can make a good movie with a crappy budget(X-Men 1 and 2.) and he proved to me he can make a good movie with a huge budget(Superman Returns) although I expected Superman Returns to have a little more action.

Brett on the other hand with the least possible time and lesser budget than SR still deliverd one hell of a movie. If FOX had give him more time, X3 would have easily been the best X-men movie ever.

Well, I give Brett credit for making an average X-Men movie considering the time he was given for the film. However, he has yet to make films I desire to see multiple times. Sadly, I think the main reason Brett took this job was because he hadn't had a blockbuster film in years(Rush Hour 2 was his last hit in 2001). It took him forever, to come up with a script for Superman 5 and when Warner Brothers finally gave him the green light to start directing the film in Austria Brett acted like an idiot and backed out of the project(His excuse for backing out of Superman 5 was he didn't want to film the movie in Austria). Since Brett had been out of work for a while and few studios were considering Brett for directing any films it made perfect sense for him to take the X-Men 3 job and kiss Fox's ass.

Where do you live? In my city, two hours from Rio, there´s a cinema still showing X3...and the copy is subtitled! :p
The price is good too...about one dollar, now that X3 has been showing for more than a month. I saw it again today. Man, I´m breaking records watching that movie! :D:up:

Yeah, releasing the movie now would be good because of July vacations, but then it would face competition from both SR and Pirates. Altough I believe that the first PotC movie wasn´t even a big hit here, but who knows...
But I´m very happy with the results of X3 in Brazil so far. The movie had to face not only Da Vinci but also the World Cup! Here in my city, for example, there were no sessions the days Brazil played, so I think the numbers could have been even higher. Even today the cinema was full! :)

X2 had a very good budget and Superman Returns is hardly a good movie.

Just how hard do you think the execs at Fox are laughing at these turn of events? Not only did X3 blow Singer's Superman away but The Devil Wears Prada is grabbing the headlines and will make Fox more money then SR will make for the WB. Comic geeks like to rip on Tom Rothman but he who laughs last laughs best. Why would he change a damn thing? To appease a few Cyclops fans that must email Fox daily? X3 cost less then SR to make. Yet, X3will make more money and is clearly the better all around summer movie. Rothman positioned his studio releases perfectly. Just read the headlines on any entertainment page...

'Devil' Likely More Profitable Than 'Superman'

The devil was certainly in the details of the holiday box office, as The Devil Wears Prada surpassed all expectations by taking in $27 million over the weekend and an estimated $39.6 million over the five-day holiday. No #2 movie opening on a Fourth of July weekend has ever come close to earning that amount. It reportedly cost $35 million to produce. On the other hand, Superman Returns, although taking in nearly twice that amount -- $52 million for the weekend; $74 million for the five days -- was regarded as a disappointment, given the fact that its budget came to a reported $204 million plus $40 million to develop. Many of the Marvel-based superhero movies have shown more muscle at the box office, including those based on Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and The Hulk. It also fell behind last year's Fourth of July tentpole, War of the Worlds, which grossed $112.7 million in its first six days. By contrast, Superman Returns has grossed $106 million in its first seven days. Moreover, Superman is expected to be hit by a sizable amount of Kryptonite next weekend loaded aboard a certain chest on Jack Sparrow's pirate ship. Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is expected to earn more in its first three days than Superman Returns did in its first seven. Meanwhile, Daily Variety reported that Superman Returns "opened solidly rather than spectacularly" in Australia and Asia, earning $20 million in 11 countries. Warner Bros. decided to delay opening it elsewhere overseas until after the conclusion of the World Cup.

topdog1. this is your opinion.I personally liked S.R.I also liked TLS.to be fair,S.R. has yet to open in over 40% of countries overseas.Lets wait and see what it does there first. It still has a 75% freash rating at R.T.

Haven't seen SR, don't plan to, so I won't comment on your anti-Supes remarks. However, I find it funny that X3, with comparatively very little marketing, has managed to outperform a movie that was HEAVILY promoted & features a more widely known character.

X3 had very little marketing? I think both SR and X3 had the same amount of marketing.

I'm talking about the big promos; Superman is on soda bottles, cereal boxes, -toys-he's everywhere. The only X3 promotion I saw was some cups at 7-11, which got pulled to make room for Superman cups.

Actuals:

Wed 5 July $313,931 (-34.5% on day) / (-17.6% on week)

Totals (41 days)
Domestic $230,119,823
International $195,692,547
Worldwide $425,812,370

I'll update front page

Come on guys(and girls) lets not start trashing Supes the way the Superman people are trashing POTC2.

Man everybody i ask loves X3. And yeah, maybe the competition wouldnt be too good (although X3 kicked DVC's ass, which i would never expect in aour country).
X3 ha made already 2 or 3 millions more than X2 in here, so im pretty happy too.

It has made it to 230 Million more then some expected.... not the faithful

How much higher can it go? 235? up to 240?

International is 201.5 million and will be updated by MOJO to include weekdays any moment.

yeah i would say that once POTC comes out it pretty much pulls every movie audience away, but i would say it has a good 5-7mil left rounding out at close to 235-238

Thks

That should take it to over $430m worldwide with Japan and China still to come. $450m is still a possibility. I think that is my last target.

X2(110 million) had a weak budget compared to many comic book movies. Check out these below.

Spiderman budget 139 million
Spiderman 2 budget 200 million
The Hulk budget 137 million
X3 budget 210 million

X3 has made more money but, the movie cost 100 million more to make than X2 and X2 made 215 million thereby, making it a lot more profitable than X3. X3 should have made over 300 million domestically considering the high budget.

The Fox executives may be laughing at how Singer's Superman is flopping but, they can't be happy with the domestic box office results of X3 unless they are idiots or maybe they don't understand basic math.

I think that X3 is doing pretty well, considering (and we have already talked about it here) that the X-Men movies are less family friendly than other franchises such as PotC, Spider-Man, HP, and Pixar/Disney cartoons, and also have less appeal than LotR, for instance, to older adults. So, considering this, I really think it would be almost impossible for X3 to reach more than 300 million in the US, and more than 300 million in the international market. X3 numbers are very realistic, but also very good.
Now, about SR...I always believed Superman to be a more family friendly superhero too, like Spidey. I really don´t want to comment about the movie, since I haven´t seen it and don´t plan to. But something must be keeping this potentially big audience away from the cinemas. Maybe the length of the movie? The story? I don´t know...it´s really strange what´s happening to SR so far...

Yes, the numbers are great here, and I think X3 still has more money to make on July vacations, even with Pirates and Super.
Everybody I talked to also enjoyed it very much...the majority even enjoyed it more than X2. Yesterday I watched it for the fifth time and there was a family, mother, father and two kids, who stayed until the end to watch the final scene. I waited to see their reaction, and they were like "Ah, they´ll make a X4!" and they seemed very happy about the idea... :D

Oh hell yeah 450 is a no brainer with an easy 20-22 million from Japan if not more + whatever loose change China brings. 460-465 is my target. Because we should still make another 5-7 million domestic as well.
