I thought the endings for both of these films were disappointing. X3's ending was idiotic while superman's was boring.

X3 Ending: I still can't believe Ratner re-wrote the ending to a battle that was to take place in Washington D.C. If magneto's utlimate goal was to kill Leech then why did he take all those mutants with him to alcatraz when he or Jean could have hovered over the mutant cure building and cause it to collapse(Thereby killing leech.). Of course Magneto could be senile and has forgotten about his tactical skills.

Superman Returns Ending: So Singer spent a whole 2 hours getting us interested in the characters and excited for this amazing showdown between Superman and Lex Luther that consisted of Lex insulting Superman while he stabs him with Kryptonite? I was waiting for a suprise and I did not get it. I thought Lex Luther was going to start fighting Superman with his exosuit made out of that Kryptonian technology he bragged about. Instead we got a typical boring superman ending. Superman 2 was the only Superman film with an ending that caught me off guard.

This thread will get closed trust me..but I just say SUPERMAN ending was great before it does!!!

Superman's. X-3's action was crap because it had no Character Devolpemnt in it. I didnt care who won or lost. When supes was getting the **** kicked out of him i felt for him

L:DL at Magneto being senile and forgetting tactics.

I felt for superman but, I was expecting a surprise ending and Singer failed to deliver. Where was Lex Luther's Exosuit?

I loved Superman's ending. I was suprised that Singer tried to incorporate some symbolism and a bit of art with Kal-El's solitude, so for those who enjoy extra touches like that (similar to Batman Returns or Spider-Man 2) Superman's ending was fantastic.

X-Men's ending was good, but could have been done better. I've been hearing comments of Ratner here and there that he could have made a better film if FOX gave him more time...

I hope you're not serious about the character development.

I guess this fool is trying to convince us that the blockbuster movies Return of the Jedi, Indiana Jones and the last Crusade, Return of the King, Back to the Future 3, Die Hard 3, The Godfather 3, and Harry Potter 3 had no character development.

I liked the ending of Superman Returns. The story was that Superman was looking for his place in the universe...at the beginning he learned that his homeworld was truly gone, and still didn't feel like he belonged on Earth. Then he learned he had a son, and now he has a place, a purpose, and he's no longer the last of his kind.

As much as I did feel SR needed a few more action sequences...I thought the scene in Jason's bedroom was one of the best parts of the movie.

And I liked X3's ending...you had Magneto getting cured, and that sudden mortal panic when he realized he had to run off like the others (this was Ian McKellen's best performance of the 3 films), plus there was the battle scene at Alcatraz, Wolverine taking out Jean (yes, I know it didn't happen that way in the comics...but I've never read it, so whatever), the last shot of the chess piece moving, the scene after the credits. It worked for me.

I could do without the "chess scene" (whatever Magneto's original ending was, I'm sure it was better and a little less cheesy), and I would've preferred the after-credits scene to be before the credits... half the movie-going public knows Xavier is alive and the other half thinks he's dead.

I don't like X3 ending as it is a bit cheesy and no clear answer who is alive after the war and who is not but i think superman ending is better but it still coulds use some work!

"I would trade three hundred THOUSAND coconuts and EVERY DROP OF BLOOD IN YOUR BODY - for one QUART - of GASOLINE!"

Nothing in X3 was that awesome.

The ending of Superman Returns would have had more impact if the kid did more. I think they needed to do more with the kid. It would have made the "son becomes the father, and the father the son" theme have more meaning. The scene in Jason's bedroom is well done, but not as impactful as it should have been. Again, this movie fails to live up to its potential, and is stuck in mediocrity.

However, I liked how X3 ends. Yes, I have read the Dark Phoenix Saga, and that is not what happend. But remember, this Phoenix story is way different. I also liked the thing with Magneto in the park. X-Men: The Last Stand leaves you with many questions, and if an X4 is made, it will be interesting to see where this goes.

If you don't wanna wait you can see a lot of fan X-4's in the sequel section. Some of them are pretty good.

X3 ending(with the Prof.) is great for me because that was the first time I recall people clapping at the end of a movie.

 X3 ending over Superman's. Err...Why are we even comparing X3 and Supes? X-men are a team and Supes is just one guy! If a Justice League movie was made then the comparison would be more appropriate.

Yeah I agree. But I think just a bit more... cuz then you would say: "ah, Superboy is going to save his parents from the helicopter accident" It'd have predictable scenes like X3

the ending of the last stand seemed like it was shot by a blind 12 year old...

so roughly done and so pointless....

:o

^ agreed. Both superman and X3 endings were crap :(

[/quate]

That's because X3's ending was written first, and the rest of the film had to be written to fit around the ending. Goal of X3? kill Jean. But Scott could save her! So let's kill Scott. But the ground is littered with Cure syringes? Eh, just ignore them. what about the rest of the team reaching out to Jean? Nah, don't bother. It's all about Jean and Logan.

Superman Returns ending: this is just the beginning. There WILL be more. No one's dead or assumed dead!!!

X3 ending: That's it, no more, dead end, impenetrable wall, the big finish. Funny thing, how can you end a trilogy with a movie that doesn't even wrap up or answer the things established in the first two films?

It was dramatic, but silly. Helicopters get lousy mileage. One quart would be barely enough to spin up those rotors :D

Nothing in X3 was that awesome.

But but... what about the Golden Gate Bridge scene? Aww, you'll hurt their feelings now. No wonder they don't want to make any more X-men films! :D

But you know what made it an awesome line?

Kevin ****ing Spacey was Lex Luthor. End of story. One of the best casting decisions in the history of comicbook films.
