better system that costs $600! the only thing that is a huge difference is the blue ray..and honestly..i could care less. i dont think its worth it. but thats just my opinion.

Yes cost is way to high but how would they make profit for it right.. Yes Blue ray is the difference between 360 adn PS3....360 is liek ummm 350 $ right adn PS3 is umm 600$ but 360 been out for aleast year now..thats why price is lower...JUst wait till ps3 is out for ummm 6 mouths or year and price for the game will be lower.. PS3 is better but 360 i going to get becasue its cheap and Ps3 is to much money

same. small lead to 360.

Not exactly. The physics engine on the PS3 is better due to the cell, so developers will be able to make things like clothes move in the wind, particle effects, etc better. The 360 GPU is more accessible for developers, which makes it able to tap into better. That's not saying that there are things on the 360 that cannot be done on the PS3.

yah your soo true....Good job ..Just For got about that....PS3 is better ...but I'm getting the 360 just becasue of the cost...

I'm not saying its better (far from it in fact). Let me rephrase, I don't think there is substantial evidence saying either one is better graphically.

I do have one question tho, why does everyone complain about the PS3 price? Reason I ask is because the Xbox 360, with HD-add on, and Xbox live costs more than the PS3 with default Blu-ray and PS net.

I know ppl always try to say Xbox is $300 to PS3 $600, but you're comparing the cheap version of Xbox to the premium PS3. If we're comparing the lower brands it would be $300 to $500. Then $200 for the HD add-on to play HD movies like a PS3 can play Blu-ray, and that puts the Xbox at $500 too. So to do equal things, it's $500 to $500. Tack on that PS3 internet is completely free, while Xbox gold costs atleast $60 for the first year, and each year after, and the PS3 is cheaper if you want the systems to do the same thing.

The PS3 costs $600 because it plays Blu-ray movies, a Blu-ray player by itself is $1500. The 360 can't play HD movies, it's comparing apples and oranges as some will not buy it for gaming. The PS3 isn't just a game system, but a next-gen movie player. To compare prices fairly you have to tack on the HD add-on to compare them as they don't have the same features otherwise.

Edit - As for graphics I'd agree. I've seen arguments for both sides, it doesn't seem like there is a clear winner. I think it depends a lot on the game developers on what they do with the hardware. I think we're a far away from seeing what the current consoles can do. (Hype's moving slow, hit save 5 mins ago :( )

Blue Ray isnt proven yet, until it is...600 is a bit much. I think the next gen movie thing as a whole is....stupid, but, to each his own.

I agree it's not proven, it's just after PS2 I changed my tune on why ppl buy systems. I bought it for gaming, but PS2 was also a DvD player while DvD players were expensive. I know plenty of ppl who bought one just as a cheap DvD player. If Blu-ray takes off, PS3's will be bought just to save $900 on a Blu-ray player.

Same can be said for HD tho, as the HD add-on for the 360 might end up being worthless too.

Fact is both are doing poor, and most places have them neck and neck in sales atm. Most ppl don't care to upgrade atm, and probably won't until the players go down to $300 or less.

Right now, 360 has the edge.
Later on the PS3 will be better.
Look at the graphics of the last games for the PS2, such as Kingdom Hearts II, Final Fantasy XII, Shadow of the Colossus, God of War II, Xenosaga. It took time for the developers to understand the power of the machine, it'll be the same for the PS3.

They aren't doing well because you need to have invested $3000+ in a 40"+ HDTV. Other wise the difference between HD formats and upscaled DVD isn't that huge.

You mean like this.

Xbox 360
$569.99 ($499.99+14% sales taxes for the premium pacakge)
$227.99 ($199.99+14% sales taxes for the HD-DVD)
total-$797.98

PS3
752.39 ($659.99+14% sales taxes for the 60 gig version)

It seems that the PS3 is a better deal ( being $45.59 less) yes? Hell no! The 360 premiums now come with a game (GRAW or PGR3) and XBL arcade collection. The HD-DVD drive comes with an Xbox media remote (IIRC) and King Kong the game and HD-DVD. So with your next gen movie player and game console your getting 2.5 games (add $200 to PS3 price tag), a remote (maybe), and a movie (add $50 to PS3 price tag). For only $45.59 more, you ask me that's a bargin. Also there is the fact that you can't get all this for the PS3 as sony has yet to put out a DVD remote. Then factor in then $3499.99 (plus 14% sales taxes) for a 46" 1080P capable HDTV.

NOTES: All prices are in Canadian dollars and have Nova Scotia's HST levied on them. All item and bundles are taken from Futureshop.

Are we comparing the cheapest version or not?

Most people don't want their 360 to play HD DVD movies, that's why it's an OPTIONAL Add-on. It's not in the cost of the core system, so comparing $300 to $500 is actually a fair comparison, while comparing $500 to $500 is propaganda. Yes, the 360 is cheaper because it has less features... especially a feature that, at this point in time, is all but useless. That's an advantage for the system, plain and simple. You pretending that everyone who needs a next gen system needs HD or Blu Ray doesn't take away that advantage.

I tell you what, anyone who wants a PS3, just let me know. The EBGames I work next to has 8 of them, and they can't sell them.

Ha, my parents just gave me one thousand dollars today for doing well in college, but I am choosing to use it to buy books for next semester. Damn...$600 for a toy or $600 for an education? Decisions decisions.

600 dollars for a semesters worth of books? Ouch
