Hello all.

I just had a word with my mother about stuff.

And if I want, I can buy a Xbox 360.

But is it worth getting?

I have heard alot of complains about discs that scratch, overheating, ...

I already own a PS3, but I would like something nice for my room.

So eh, worth the money or should I buy something else instead?

I would, the online experience as compared to PS3 is amazing, and you have a great selection of games.

I love my 360.

Well, the difference between 360 and PS3 are the exclusives, and I heard Live > PSN, although for Live you will need to pay about $50 a year if you want to play online. Check to see if there are games on 360 you don't get with PS3 that you want to play, before making your decision.

Well, if you've already got the PS3, what else are you gonna buy instead? A Wii? If you want games you'll actually want to play, the 360's the way to go. It does have a high failure rate, but their warranty/repair service is pretty good as well, so it evens out. I've only had one overheating problem with my 360 so far, and I've had it about a year.

The failure rate was a problem but I've not heard anything about it since the new motherboards were put in last year. Even then, it's still a good idea to keep the warranty handy, like with any other pricey electronic purchase. I haven't had a problem with mine in the past year, but I still registered my console.

Since you already have a PS3, you're pretty much experiencing what's available for the 360, not counting exclusives. Unless you really have a hankering for Halo, Ninja Gaiden 2, Gears of War, Viva Piñata, Banjo Kazooie, or some others. I enjoy my 360, but if I was going to get another console, I wouldn't get a PS3.

You're better off getting a Wii.

I own a Wii, so I'm not bashing on it too much, but why is he better off? Wii has like 4 games and VC.

Quick question: how do I register my 360? And do I need to do it if I want to use the warranty in case of RROD?

when it comes down to it.....it all depends on whether you want to play the Xbox exclusives (Halo, Gears of War, Left 4 Dead, Mass Effect, etc.) or if you want to play the Wii exclusives (Mario games, Metroid, Zelda, etc.)

If you've got a friend with a Wii and Smash Bros. Brawl, the Wii exclusives are taken care of right there. ;)

In my opinion if you already own a PS3/360, it's kinda pointless to buy the other one since the vast majority of games appear on both systems. This is a two system generation for gamers, a Wii and a PS3/360.

I agree. I have a Wii but its graphic limitations and restricted access to titles like Street Fighters 4 compelled me to buy a 360, and so far I'm happy with the console. If I do get a PS3 (which is highly unlikely), I'll probably use it for its blu-ray drive mostly.

At xbox.com, click on support, then console management. You can enter your serial number and check warranty status. My standard warranty expired a month ago, since I bought it last November. I'm still covered by the 3 year if I get the RROD.

The 360 is worth every penny. Period.

I own both the 360 and PS3 but i only use my PS3 for its Blu Ray and then for 2 games(Uncharted and MGS4). I dont know if its worth owning both in the same house tho. I mean you say you want to get a system for your room, if you mean like a dorm room where ull be leaving ur PS3 at home and taking ur 360 with you then yea, absolutely get a 360.

dont move the 360 around when its on. thats how discs get scratched. the only real problem with it is the dread red ring. i got treated like crap with the customer serivce a few weeks ago (they were good in the past though so idk whats going on with them) he freakin put me on hold for 30 mins, blamed my 360's ring on me, then hung up on me without answering when i asked why do i have to buy a new warranty when the 360 that just broke was the one they sent me.

Thanks for the info. I'll do so as soon as I receive my wireless adapter (which hopefully will arrive today). Need to log on if I want to create a gametag.

I got a 360 about 5 months ago or so. I haven't played it in two months. I also haven't got the on-line service yet since I don't have the expensive wireless adapter yet. So that might a reason why. There are some cool games for it though like gears of war and saints row.

I still use my ps3 most. I also got a wii for my wife a month ago and I've been playing that a lot actually. mario galaxy, smash bros, zelda, are all great games. Plus, I like the games that my wife and I can play together like rayman raving rabbids etc. So if you got a gf that you'd like to get into gaming, the wii is great. For the first time since I've known her, my wife now actually wants to play games.

The only reason why I have all three systems is because I'm living in the middle of nowhere while I'm in grad school. Games are about my only form of entertainment since there's nothing around me.

Mario Sunshine, Zelda, Metroid...those aren't games that i can complete while my friends' Wii is at his apt.

Doesn't really bother me since I've haven't been interested in those franchises for a while. I know they're all God's gift to games and all, but I haven't found any of them interesting in years. Same with the Final Fantasy series.

Halo and Gears of War were at launch. I think Mass Effect was too, wasn't it? They'll probably continue the same formula of 360 release first, then PC release for the future of those franchises, too.

Hell yeah, man.

I only have a PS3, but I'd love to have a 360 as well. So many awsome games: GOW2, Fable II, Alan Wake, etc.

On top of that, you'll get a top of the line Online experience.

It's also wicked cheap.

I have made up my mind, I'm not getting a 360.

As I see that most games release on PC and/or PS3 later.

I'm going for a new PC.

Thanks all for taking the time.

if you come into the microsoft forum and ask what you should buy they will say 360

if you go into the sony forum and ask they'll say ps3

if you go into the nintendo forum and ask they'll say wii.

so get them all
