Xbox Live to Cost $100?

Paying for LIVE means 3 thing, imo:

- People like the Xbox altogether, and are willing to pay to have everything
- People argue, but they actually don´t think $5 a month is very expansive
- People don´t care that much for multiplayer, because, if they did, they would go to the PS3 where it´s free.

-Paying to pay good exclusive online games.

PS3's good exclusives are mainly single player games. Sure they have Resistance, Killzone & Uncharted 2 (which is mainly a single player experience from what I've heard).

But 360 has Halo, Gears of War, Splinter Cell, exclusive COD content & an over-all better online community.

The MW2 multiplayer maps are timed exclusives, and SC will end up on the PS3 eventually. As far as bigger and better community on Live, sure, but as far as actual online enabled titles go, they seem fairly close

Why in the world would I want to pay $100 a year to play with people who yell all the time, and do nothing but call you a *** when you win. If I wanted that I'd become a teacher and get paid.

Man, I miss the old Xbox Live. :csad: Before all the dumb people joined.

You must have been on a different Xbox Live than me. :hehe:

If you're paying $50, you're getting ripped off :)

There's plenty of deals on XBL throughout the year, on average you'll be paying $30.

Even less if you utilize something like Best Buy's Gamer Rewards Club (free) for all the people who say they'd rather spend money on games. For every $150 you spend, you get a $10 coupon which stacks with the regular reward zone club (also free). 2 and a half games and you're already halfway there and that's just games alone (if you get cds, blank cds, movies, etc)

True.

Can you mute all players, though? I've just recently discovered how much this helps me out when playing online with the PS3. Being about to mute all players, and avoid all the racist talk, and singing players, or player blazing their radio, etc. helps me a ton when playing online.

It's strange, too. LIVE's greatest asset...is also it's worst asset. It has a massive, vibrant online community. But, that same community can be the worst, most annoying thing to run across.

There is indeed a setting where you can mute everyone except people on your friends list.

I'm actually dropping Live after my current subscription runs out. I've tried to get into the idea of playing games with friends and strangers online, but the more I do it the more I feel a confirmation that I really just prefer single-player games. Plus, now I have a PS3 and Steam is having jaw-droppingly ridiculous sales all the time, so if I really feel like I'm gonna need to play something online, I'll just get it for the PS3 or PC. And no, Halo and Gears of War aren't games I feel a need to play online, especially since they're where you generally find the absolute worst of the worst *****ebags on Live.

PSN has good exclusive online games as well, Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, Warhawk, Gran Turismo 5, etc.

Having an excellent single player experience along with an excellent online experience is integral to a game. Something that Halo 3 tends to lack (great online, but average single player), that Gears of War succeeds in (great single and multiplayer modes), etc.

Not from what I hear. While PSN's online community is lacking compared to XBL's, XBL's online community is plagued with *****ebags

I'd still pay. I never play online, maybe once or twice a month, but I value having the option. But yeah, it'll never happen. Like someone else said, if anything the price will disappear, not increase. With all the things that you buy over XBL now, Microsoft is probably more interested in getting people onto the platform than on making money off sub fees. Give it away free, make it up in vastly increased map pack sales and the like.

I see your Halo and raise you the Madden online community. Then again thats not console exclusive. :D

I wouldn't know. The last 'sports' (and I use the term loosely) game I genuinely liked was NBA Jam. I've usually just tried to stay away from them for the last decade or so. :)

With the ability to have a group in party chat...who really worries about the *****e bags anymore? Seriously, I'm NEVER in open chat...it's always about me and a group of my friends playing Halo 3 in a party.

You know that this Xbox live cost is $100 fixed. If you increase this price

Thanks
